Najla Takes the Court Run
When Jana headed over to our section and announced that she needed someone to head to the courts to deliver a document, Najla eagerly stuck her hand up for the job. For the whole day I was looking forward to getting out of the office and releasing some of the building woes with some fresh air but alas, the undeserved was the recipient of such dividends. To my liking, Najla didn’t deserve to head out and do something she wanted to do simply because she wasn’t completing her fair share of work.
To Najla, heading to court and examining her ambitions was like eating dessert and filing was the brussel sprouts and greens no one really wants to eat but are told to. For the whole day, Najla refused to eat her greens and rather snatched the dessert from my hand selfishly when it was offered. However, there is some good that came out of Najla heading to court. Originally, I was set to have lunch at 1:00 p.m. but as she wasn’t sure when she would be coming back, it was my cue to have lunch at midday with Linh and the rest of them.
Lunch With the Smokers
Speaking now of lunch after heading over to Linh’s table two or three times during the day, they walked past my area and in a little bunch, we all caught the elevator downstairs. Being with Linh, Thao and Elias (I’m so bad with remembering names), I stood out the front with them as they lit up their usual smokes before our outing. Elias as you will get to know and have heard of before in these pages is the tall guy to which I now know is from New Zealand but doesn’t look nothing like it.
He started conversation with me as we began our trek up towards HMV Food Court, finally having a destination up our sleeves. In our trek, he told me how he’s only been in Australia for three months and in that time, after two weeks waiting for a job, he landed himself work with HIH. Speaking also upon the subject of Football, I found out that he was vouching for Brisbane Broncos as was I.
Finding something in common, we talked Football for most of our way to Pitt Street as Thao talked with Linh in front of us. When in HMV Food Court, I decided to try the prawn salad thing from the seafood stall as Linh and Thao bought Pizza. Elias was the last to come back with a hamburger as I prepared our seating and then we sat ourselves down for lunch.
Speaking about my ticket woes when I didn’t have my head down into my food listening, I expressed my will to go against the grain and argue that there is a possibility for City Rail’s price hikes to be put in place. Linh enlightened us upon the fact that the guy who sits on the other side of his barricade wall is gay as the gay guy once uttered “I saw my next door neighbor step out of his house in a cream suit, I thought he was hot”.
My remark upon this was to state “There’s a hidden message within those words” to which they all laughed and Thao replied “I won’t wear a cream suit to work tomorrow”. The hidden message of course (For all insipid minds) was the emphasis on the word cream to which he would probably be thinking of other sorts of cream that could dwell upon his face from pressure release.
Hound Dog Sale
With the conclusion of my meal and as the three of them lit up again, I explained how I was heading upstairs for a tick to check out the sale Hound Dog was having. Being away for too long, I thought to check out the bargain prices to which I noticed a great carry bag I could use for work and other encounters. The bag was fairly cost efficient and what I desired, just not coming in preferred leather.
Taking that into consideration, after a couple of minutes I headed back downstairs to their continuing conversation and after I glanced at each beautiful ass and pair of breasts that walked past, we made our way back to work. Elias came to chat with me again to which he asked me about a topic we chatted about eons ago. Lost in his meaning, it finally clicked that he was asking how my hopeful lust for that blonde girl on the express train with the pink top was going.
“Fine, fine” I stammered, “I see her on the train everyday but I haven’t seen her for a while lately”. Low and behold, the irony showed itself as the blonde walked right past the both of us and as I slyly nudged Elias, he soon shared my coincidence. Having a third smoke just before heading back into work, we caught the elevator up together and then I uttered our plans for lunch on Thursday when departing.
Thalia Has Her Say
With Najla now heading out for her lunch hour, the real derision began upon her name, not from me but from others and their actions. Thalia came over for a touch looking for files and seeing that there was a whole trolley full of Joselyn’s files, she thought to ask “Is Najla doing her bit”. Hesitant to act like the fibber, I downplayed her laziness, trying to find the good in each sentence rather than the bad.
“I never see Najla doing her filing and Joselyn’s starting to get pissed off with how much filing is up there” she commented. Although there was much truth and necessity for her words, I feel that I have worked out a piece of Thalia’s character. The way I see it, Thalia has to complain about somebody in order to make herself feel complacent about herself and her achievements.
Thalia doesn’t gloat but you can hear the inadvertent pride in her voice when she states the truth and puts Najla down behind her back for not doing her job. To me, it just felt like Thalia was saying “Yeah, I would be doing it if I was still in administration and I wouldn’t need any other help” but all immodesty aside, Thalia also thought to comment about her weekend.
Yes, on Saturday she did head out to QSB to which she noted it was crap. Taking no heed to my words of discredit, she had to find out the hard way and frankly, that’s why I didn’t head down there, because I knew it would be shit. From there we talked about the possibilities of Chevy’s and how it was a better club to have been at and from there, Thalia headed back off to do her thing as I started back on filing.
Joselyn Loses a File
One of the better highlights of the day was when Joselyn headed over to my desk when I was at my lonesome and seemingly she had something prepared to say but it all came out confused and jumbled once she approached me. “I know this is going to sound silly” she uttered as I sat there calm and prepared, “But have you seen a file that came in the mail having a slip of paper saying ‘with compliments’ on it”.
Having an odd mind that cares to remember odd things, I did recall such a package going through my hands which came to me on Friday. Amazing that I still remembered its existence on Tuesday I noted “Yeah, I put that on your desk” with all the confidence in the world. Joselyn’s doubts couldn’t bend my confidence and as she headed over to check her desk, I could hear her scream out to me “I found it, thanks Tony”.
Feeling pleased as punch with the wonders my memory allowed, I headed over to Joselyn’s room to look for a file of my own as well as to ask if everything was alright. This file that was sent back from a barrister and was largely thick sounded important to Joselyn as she sounded lost in hope and nervous that she would never be able to regain it, like her head was at stake.
That conclusion I draw because upon my walking into Joselyn’s room and with Margot there, she yelled out “Tony, I could kiss you” and I don’t know if she was seriously shaping up to do so but being hampered in these situations due to my inability to act upon instincts, I was without answers. Deciding not to be as audacious as her in my bids to lean forward and grant her a hug or kiss, I walked out of her room with a big smile on my face as that’s all I could really do.
I Love You Tony
The laws of sexual tension run thin to my understanding and that is half the reason why I am prone to speak fluidly with men where I would ignore women, scared that I would push the brim of their thinking I was being sexually inclined. Nevertheless, when walking past Joselyn and Shayma who were chatting in the hallway to the kitchen, I redeemed myself in her mind. With my getting closer, their chatting stopped and it appeared as if Joselyn was looking at me from the corner of her eye, not really turning her head or looking.
You could just tell that something was stirring in her mind and when I drew close to her she just blurted out “I love you Tony, I really love you.” Striking me hard, I sat there dumbfounded and content, knowing her voice was loud enough for most people to turn around and ask themselves “Is she being for real”. This time around I didn’t think to neglect any comfort to Joselyn’s praise and as I should have said something like “The feeling’s mutual” in jest, my reaction was to just let out a laugh of flattery.
Sure Joselyn felt like she owed me something for my tearing her away from terror infested anxiety but I also feel that she’s been harboring hidden desires. Ever since Joselyn noted that my electric blue shirt was really blue, I knew her compliment knew that she appreciated my dress sense so much that she would finally say something about it. Like me, I would keep compliments to myself at work, figuring that they could get me into trouble or at the least, have the ladies thinking I favored them.
That is the vibe I’ve been getting from Joselyn and don’t think me some sort of Don Juan or Romeo but there are a couple of other identities that favor me. For example, Jana has shown with her push to bringing on that adoring little girl inside of her whenever she speaks with me now and Delphi also finds the time to sit down and chat with me. Although Kelsey is married, I don’t think it stops her from thinking to herself that I’d be a good sort and I know that Tatiana had her fancies at one stage until I started to get intimidated to a retiring silence.
Strike Najla out of the equation as she’s had to sit next to me for so long and as we’re here, add Thalia to the list as I feel she sees me more in the eyes of her friends and possibilities of further friends rather than as that guy who wears stylish clothing in administration.
