Photocopier Trouble

Getting now to the rest of my Wednesday after coming back from work, there were a couple of capers that deserve a placid mention. Firstly, when doing some photocopying later in that afternoon in the kitchen, the photocopier managed to break down on me again. Three times I took out the jam and three times it jammed back up on me to which I figured the copier was definitely on the blink.

However, in that time I managed to have a conversation with Linh’s long time friend from preschool to which he decided to have a smoke with downstairs before we headed up from lunch. “You’re Linh’s friend aren’t you” I noted to him midway through my trying to fix the problem, learning that he’d only been working now for a week. Sharing a table with Leroy at the moment who has left this Monday, we chatted away pretty well and ever since that day we have been saying hello and being respectively open towards each other.

My motto is basically, any friend of Linh’s is a friend of mine and although this guy didn’t know who I was at first, his pleasant attitude made it easier for me to approach him. To his credit, he hasn’t shown the anxious jitters that I had so largely upon my first days of work. Showing no intimidation throughout his day, when I noted that the photocopier was broken and directed him to others, he calmly made his way over and continued the rest of his day’s worth.

Thalia Drops By

Thalia and I also had a mesmerizing chat after having my lunch. With Najla away for lunch she found any old excuse to make her way over and have a chat with me. Thalia is a funny one to which I think she remarks offhand, an obvious attempt to show off how much of a party animal she really is after work.

From her out-of-the-blue comments about wearing short skirts in her olds days and always seeming to find a way to explain her weekend, she sounds as if she’s trying to make my mind tick overtime, trying to undress her with my eyes. Well, despite the availability of these mental images, I just haven’t seized upon the opportunity of being caught up in Thalia’s endeavors after work.

Apart from our chatting of plans about our forthcoming weekend and that just passed, Thalia called me a classic again, laughing at how I handled myself over the telephone when calling Diskovery.

Lynx And Compliments

During the whole course of the day I didn’t get to chat with Karina in too great a depth but since the onset of her being at Esme’s old desk, I’ve joined her there to do some filing or brief of some sort. Spraying on some Lynx Deodorant as I tend to do after heading out for lunch I was pleased to hear Karina brand the smell as lovely.

Thalia was looking to the point of being blatant when she headed over to my desk and asked if she could borrow some of my Lynx perfume to put on because she had none. This however opened up the easily pried door for Karina to start chatting about perfume and noting that this smell would have been too masculine for Thalia.

What I found rewarding was Karina’s honesty and how with her down to earth modesty, she doesn’t seem to care about those barriers everyone else seems to care about when making a compliment about the opposite sex. It’s good to know that people appreciate how you look or smell every now and again and it made my day to hear Karina say “That smells really good on you”. I’m one who depends on opinion and therefore, when Karina carried on to say “You always smell good when you walk past” I was flattered.

Shayma Dreads My Calls

Just some other quick reminders on the rest of Wednesday at work before I conclude this meeting of words. Shayma seemed to be getting a tad annoyed with me, thinking that I’d called her once too often during the day. Completing a brief for her that she’d asked of me, I called her over the phone three times detailing her with information.

Through the day, each time I called her she seemed to moan that touch more as if to say “Oh no, here’s that Tony again”. Even when I headed over to her desk and uttered “Shayma”, you could sense the dread building up. However, I quite enjoyed watching Shayma squirm each time I headed over there as much as I appreciated chatting to the receptionist lady over the phone.

Gawain Talks Loudly

Gawain was also led astray for the better half of twenty minutes near the end of the day. Stopping off to chat with Blythe and Anneliese, over the barrier I could hear him candidly speaking about sex. Crossing that controversial barrier about speaking so intimately about your personal life, he knew that people would be able to hear him and didn’t mind my eavesdropping to hear about his girlfriend who had a child that called Gawain daddy.

Chatting about sex, condoms and how he has the decency to get to know a women, it sounded like what he would obviously say, painting himself the good-guy knowing he had ears like mine listening in. Needing not taint his name, I thought it was lame when Anneliese exclaimed “Well Gawain, my degree of respect for you has just gone up a notch”, good on you Gawain. Hey, who am I to criticize anyway, this is who Gawain is and I the arrogant am probably am in the wrong of opinion.

Manny And The Postcard

The last remaining remnant of the day comes with my heading over to the other photocopier in the opposite kitchen to run a large job. Just as I was about to use the photocopier Manny walked in with a huge grin on his face and placing a piece of paper face down in the photocopier he noted “Hold up, I have a very important job to do”. Enlarging the postcard picture of five or six supermodels, I figured it was to be the next picture for Gawain to place on his wall and as he showed me in haste, he headed back to Gawain beaming.

Walking Out With Kelsey

With works conclusion and Najla still typing away on the computer, she bid me leave by myself and that I did, making my trek downstairs and home. Catching the elevator down with Kelsey and Karina, I noticed Karina jump into a car out the front of work to which one of her lady friends was driving and knowing I didn’t want to walk a few steps behind Kelsey, I called out her name to which she stopped to wait for me.

Gorged in conversation, Kelsey told me about how she’s living in Holsworthy waiting to move out soon and how her husband was serviced in the army for four years, now out with an injury. There were more words to describe our conversation but that to which I cannot recite in detail or upon interest in these moments. Therefore, with my train trip home, sleeping upon it and my final greeting my front door, I end this tribute to Wednesday’s chronology, too long received although too short done.
