Chatting With Linh and Jonas

Whilst roaming around today I chatted to a couple of people already having been determined in past entries. Firstly, I chatted to Linh as I was grabbing some printouts. Shaking hands as we started walking together down the corridor I noted on his new shirt in which he told me that it only cost him ten dollars, good shirt. Speaking somewhat of having lunch together, Linh talked of his uncertainty of his friend coming out for lunch but noted that I could come along if I wanted to. Making our way down to my section we parted our ways and I didn’t get to head out with Linh for lunch.

Later in the night I noticed Linh jumping onto the train. We were distanced because it was packed and he jumped on in the last minute but after Town Hall we were brought together. However, this only lasted for a couple of seconds as Linh wanted to find himself a seat upstairs. I’m not sure if this was a brush off or if Linh thinks I don’t like his company but it didn’t look too promising. Then again, it could have just been my mind playing tricks on me.

There was the chat I had with Jonas at the photocopier at one stage of the day. We bumped into each other a couple of times in the day in which we had a little chat each of those times. Let me just note, for my first day of the new month and my Friday, I didn’t feel constricted or reserved in conversation. Rather, I talked confidently of topics, bringing them up easily and being able to carry a conversation without having it go nowhere.

For the whole day I sensed this heightened sense to conversation in which whomever I talked to I was fairly loquacious. Anyway, Jonas told me about this 24 year old chick that he’s known for a while and he thinks that she likes him. “Take her to Chevy’s on the weekend” I laughed as he bellowed “Up the Chevy’s”. Speaking of my weekend at Kangaroo Island and the turmoil that ensued I didn’t paint myself as a hero but rather, as the true self I portrayed.

Lunch Plans With Aleka

When heading downstairs to grab the cab charge books I also bumped into Aleka. Jumping on the elevator with her we just chatted openly about the day and then somehow we got to talking about having lunch. I think she was actually hinting about having lunch soon and then I figured to unobtrusively ring the notion into play. Aleka fermented my thought as we made plans to have lunch on Friday.

“We’ll head out to some coffee shop” she uttered as she jumped out on ground level. The trip down with her was worth the while as I chatted to her about the shoes I was looking to buy for nightclubs as well as my recent outings. The flow of conversation through the day didn’t diminish when I spoke freely with Aleka but with her it just feels like we go back a long way, thus, making it easier conversation.

Xavier Rings the Office

Oh yeah, I forgot to add something vitally important and curious to my new month’s entry. Early in the morning I made it a point to note my meeting with Xavier on the train last night with Najla. As I told her how I thought he looked robust for his age we chatted about our conversation and so forth. Half an hour later I received a phone call (Not one of Jana’s internal phone calls which were spread throughout the day) and I was rather taken back that it was Xavier.

He started by noting that he was Xavier for the train and then noted “It must feel a bit awkward speaking to me” but I was more surprised than shocked. On the train we talked about seeing each other again on the train and I guess he wanted to cement our newfound friendship with a solid plan. “I just called to inform you that I won’t be catching a train home from the City until Wednesday” he uttered.

Not sure whether to think he was just lonely or impressed with me I gathered the latter would be more feasible. After agreeing that I would be there on Wednesday I asked if it took him a while to get in contact with me but honestly, how much people could there be called Tony. Normally it would be a freaky occurrence but I was somewhat looking forward to him taking up the challenge to try and locate me with only the knowledge of my name and where I worked.

I like this guy because he reminds me just like me. I’m the sort of person that will take up the challenge of finding someone with flimsy information and I can gather that he probably feels that he was just like me when younger.

Window Shopping for Club Shoes

Heading out for my turn at having lunch, I headed out window shopping. Knowing that the big end of financial year sales were on I decided not to grab lunch unless I had the time after shopping, hardly likely. My main aim was to shop around for club sneaker shoes to wear with my black Hound Dog reflector pants. I looked around in a couple of shoe stores on Pitt Street but I found that there wasn’t much of a men’s selection. I saw heaps hot shoes that were black and white with fat soles and a Velcro tape-up instead of shoelaces.

They looked groovy but I wasn’t too dismayed by their being made for women. The lady behind the counter told me that many men buy women’s shoes these days and vice versa. It is now a thin line between differences and basically, if someone sees what they like, they’ll most probably buy it. That made me feel a little bit easier on buying shoes that were made for women but if the shoe fits and looks good, wear it. Coming out of a glasses shop I noticed Aleka looking around out the front of a clothes store.

Surprising Aleka on Pitt Street

Deciding to be my usual self I walked up to her face as she was completely oblivious to me, looking down at the bargains. When she did face me almost instantaneously she was led to be shocked and jump back a step or two. When she finally realized that it was just me standing silently still in front of her with a blank expression on my face she hit me playfully on the arm and uttered “What are you doing stupid”. For the next ten minutes we stood out the front chatting away about what we were both looking around to buy.

We talked about clubs and I fibbed a little by saying I have been to DCM’s. We chatted about having lunch again just cementing our idea and with her being a couple of minutes late for work I let her get back to her venture. For the rest of my lunch I shopped around for good deals and then headed back to work with only a drink of orange juice in my hands.

Files Nobody Can Find

The second half of the day was firstly dedicated to some more filing on my behalf as I also had to look for a couple of files for Margot. Poor old David, he gave me some files to look up near the start of this work week and because his filing is so unorganized I haven’t found the ability to find them. Margot’s files I found within minutes but I’d be looking around for days as I have just to find one of David’s files.

It’s also funny to watch David walk up to filing, look in the completely wrong area as to where a file might be alphabetically listed and find it. David is back the front and with his singing in the halls and fooling around, he’s beginning to lose his marbles or act as if he has. Poor old David, the enforcer of idiosyncratic behavior has laden me with tasks that cannot be achieved. I wonder if he sits at his desk disappointed at the turnout of my effort or if he just sits there dazed, unconcerned.

Memoirs on the Grapevine

Getting back to the plot of things, as I headed to put away some common law files the Scottish girl walked past me and remarked “How’s your memoirs going” letting out a little giggle. My memoirs seem to be a well known commodity at work now and as much as I don’t like bragging, I guess I throw it into conversation because the moment calls for it to be noted.

I don’t brag but rather, I’m a reticent revealer to my fastidious fashions. There was also an instance where I helped her insert paper into the photocopier. She had a red top on and her blouse was unbuttoned to a point where it would reveal a fair amount of skin. Wearing a black skirt showing off her gorgeously stunning long legs (She is rather tall) I sat there dazzled each time I walked towards her in the kitchen.

It seemed like she was trying to show it all off for the last couple of days at work and I do believe she got some attention. When I was placing some paper in the photocopier she was bending down in front of me. She gave me a smirking grin as I leaned over her kneeling body to add paper to the machine but I didn’t decide to look down such a resplendent area.

Rain Over the Station

The rest of my work day was devoted to filing, the outgoing mail which was doubled with Najla and then trying to fix up a last brief before the day’s end. It felt great to have Najla around me again, I felt silent without her. The troubling due was back in full force as we laughed through the day, wore our zany little comments out and created our own amusement with our antics.

When the day was over at 5:00 p.m. the both of us headed downstairs together. Grasping that it was raining lightly we pondered on how to get to the station with the least amount of rain falling on our unprotected bodies. Creeping around corners to safety we crossed a watery road which was like a small fountain and then made our way to the train station’s entrance without an umbrella to our name.

Supposedly there was supposed to be a train strike happening tomorrow which was brushed upon lightly at work. I didn’t want to stay home on Friday because my work isn’t the kind where you could jump back into things if you took a day off. Rather, like Livia noted, if you have one day off you will just have more work piled up, you can’t miss a day. Heading through the ticket gates we said our uncertain farewells and then headed down to our platform.

Like noted, I bumped into Linh in which we didn’t exchange much words and pondering whether to head home or to stick in the City for some more late night window shopping, I decided it would be best to stick around. However, that story must be told at a later time as it has now just crept past midnight and I need me some sleep for Friday morning.

Let these late nights not create another late morning awakening. Let me sleep proud and wake up mightily for Friday. Most of all, let there not be a train strike. It sounds weird when normally I would be hoping to stay home but as Livia said, more work accumulated may never be caught up.
