Optometrist Downstairs
Stopping off at the optometrist downstairs which is ironically the same optometrist where Penelope had her faulty contacts sold, with his being ready to close, this young Chinese guy quickly ran through a summary of points about contact lenses, hearing my willingness on price and what I wanted to buy. Starting a conversation with him, he told me that he wears gray contact lenses when heading out to clubs, kind of reminding me of Chi. Making an appointment for the week after (Which was this Saturday) I made my way back upstairs passing one or two decent girls and then continued my journey up towards Macarthur Square.
Turned Away At OPSM
Catching the train I was adamant about buying contact lenses or at least going through the process of which contact lenses I wanted to purchase. In addition, I could also buy my train ticket for the week and considering that I had a wad of cash in my wallet, it felt good to get rid of some proportioned weight. There were only two optometrists in Macarthur Square as well and alike of Campbelltown, only one I visited. However, this being OPSM and a big name, I knew when waiting upon their line I would stand no chance without a prior appointment.
Wearing mostly black on my outings these days as I haven’t yet bought any casual colors for spring, I looked resolutely different to everyone else in the store. The only satisfaction I received was from one of the ladies behind the counter looking upon my frame favorably and as I walked to the Reception area for the optometrist I rang the little bell for assistance. Most people in the shop now turned around to look at me, the spectacle with the out-there shoes.
However, despite being by myself and usually speaking in a serious tone due to my not being able to shake out the playful side of me, the tables turned with this visit. With the Reception guy heading over, I clearly asked if I could get myself contact lenses for the day sounding consistent. “I’m sorry, you’ll have to make an appointment” he said and as I looked over at the girl behind the other counter who was keenly smiling I asked if they knew of any other optometrist up in Macarthur Square.
Pointing out the bargain optometrist near the newer end of the Square, I thanked him for his time and then made my way back out, circled the Square for chicks and then headed back down to the Station. When walking down the ramp towards my platform, you could see a guy and girl near the bottom just stop their conversation while looking towards my direction and trying hard not to laugh. Especially in the girl, you could see her lips starting to bend with each step I took to which she couldn’t help herself but to bow her head down with a smirk. They obviously thought something was funny about me, gee, I wonder if it was the shoes.
Half An Hour At Imad’s
Heading back to Campbelltown Station, I headed to the bus-stop on Dumaresq Street and waiting here for a couple of minutes, with the night sky starting to appear, I headed to Imad’s house. Now parts of this conversation thankfully have already been jotted down so I won’t have to express them too greatly here but in all, we spent about half an hour together.
While I was at Imad’s house I tried to convince him in coming over my house for the night after noting that Nero and Tyler would be coming over. Imad sounded enthused to his hearing as he chatted about those days of old when he used to work at Mobile in Campbelltown alongside of Imad’s shifts. When our stay together had concluded I headed back home and being around 6:00 p.m. I had a touch of a rest and then began upon these pages.
Gridiron With Tyler
To the credit of the rest of our Saturday night after my entry, Tyler was the only one who came over my house and kept himself there for the duration. In love with the idea that I had a Playstation, Tyler and I began on a game of Gridiron which wasn’t going too well for him. Not necessarily pulverizing him, we were playing tight for a while but I started pulling away with the points soon enough.
Nearing the middle of our game and with my speakers carrying the full thread of the game’s sound, surprisingly the both of us heard a car screech and then crash outside. “What was that” Tyler asked as I quickly turned down the system and we sat there with our mouths open listening intently for some other sort of clue. “Do you reckon that was a car crash man” he asked and as I nodded his temperament induced the sentence “Do you reckon”.
Nodding my head again, his face looking like he’d just seen some woman bonking a guy and his thinking it was his mum, he asked “Do you think we should go check it out”. Taking a glance at his overly auspicious concern, he could almost feel the moment building to when I said “Nah” and turned back on the Gridiron game. Letting out one of his goofy laughs that bids me to say he’s always on something that slows his timing down, we continued on with our game.
Sirens Near My House
Forgetting about the screeching car and then the large bang that sounded fatal, it was ten minutes into our game that we were reminded of that unknown tragedy again. Hearing a list of sirens very close to my house and sounding like they were on St. Johns Road parallel to my house, our interest was once again sparked. “Do you think they’re heading to that car crash”
Tyler asked with his usual intrigue you can either laugh at or in grant, take seriously, he continued without my response saying “Do you think we should go check it out”. This time around I was keen to pause the Playstation and chucking on whatever was available for shoe which were my Guess shoes, I didn’t bother doing up the laces and with Tyler, jogged out my front door.
The anticipation of what we were about to see was growing as we jogged down the street and turning the corner to follow the sirens we noticed almost the whole street blocked off, some seven cop cars, one paddy wagon and two ambulance. Now from what sources do tell, there were two guys in this badly fucked up Commodore that was wrapped so deeply around a tree.
The car was stolen and taken for a joyride and how it ended up facing the wrong way on the middle of that small hill on St. Johns parallel to my house is beyond me. Hearing also that the passenger jumped out of the car and left his friend to die, he was caught some meters down the street.
As for the other guy, he was forced by the crumpled up driver’s side into the back seat from the impact and from what I could see the emergency crew were going to have a pretty hard time getting him out.
Working Out The Crash
Standing there with Tyler alongside of twenty other onlookers, Tyler and I tried to figure out how the car ended up on the wrong side of the road (The traffic going down the hill), wrapped around a tree with the driver’s side up to the door and the car facing up the hill against oncoming traffic. What we also couldn’t understand was how did the front part of the car’s body-kit with the license plate ever get to the bottom of the hill unscathed.
Putting the pieces together with the screech and the crash as well as this evidence, we put our own little picture together. Tyler thought that the car was traveling on the other side of the road, magically whisked over the grassy median strip with a bunch of trees left unscathed and then hit the tree. However, the more logical reasoning was that he was flying at the top of the hill, got some air and then hit the brakes hard for that split second of screeching to which we finally heard the car crash.
Judging from the trees being torn up mostly on the side that the car wasn’t on, I figured that it must have climbed the gutter, hit the tree and then turned around it to face the opposite way. When the car hit the gutter I figure the front panel would have swiveled off and flown down the street those twenty meters.
The guy in the car didn’t appear to be dead as they were feeding him drips and oxygen masks and at one stage I even saw him hitting his head against the seat when the crew was trying to assist him. In my mind I kept thinking that he was thinking “Fuck me, I’ve fucked up, I’m going to jail big time” and considering he probably fucked up one of his legs or even crippled himself, it was a large price to pay for a joyride.
Back To The Playstation
Seeing Martin creeping down the road and then heading back up, I was going to call out to him but figured I’d just watch him climb the street with his friends. This being the Martin that Imad associates with, I figured that he lived up the top of St. Johns Road where the alleyway is and with Imad coming to visit me later in the night and his heading up to Martin’s house, I was right.
Soon enough, standing around for half an hour and watching their snail’s pace of getting the guy out wasn’t enthralling enough so we made the decision to finally head back home. Back at my house we began upon Gridiron again to which in that half an hour Imad popped over just to say hello. Taking a seat on my one of my chairs while I lay on the waterbed and Tyler sat on the ground, he watched us playing ‘War Games’ for that couple of minutes that he stayed over.
To some degree I might have seemed rude because we continued playing our games leaving conversation stuck but I tried my best to accustom everyone in the room to each other. Nevertheless, Imad was leaving soon anyway and with his departure for Martin’s house Tyler and I kept playing the Playstation. Nero didn’t end up coming over my house that night and I think I ended up getting to sleep around 1:00 a.m. Either way, Saturday night was a bit of a dredge but in good return, it yielded me some earlier chronology upon Sunday morning.
Plans For The Week
With the lacking conclusion of Saturday’s events now conceived I have but two points to note. First, I want to head to the Gym today so I’m going to clean up my shoes and be off to there in half an hour. That brings me to my second problem of when and where chronology will be complete tonight. Figuring that I will have three hours extra of chronology when coming back from the Gym before I head out to indoor rock climbing, that should achieve at least Monday and some of Tuesday, maybe all.
When coming back from rock climbing tonight, I’ll have Wednesday and Thursday to contest with leaving me with the whole weekend which should set me back this coming week of work. Fuck, if I could only get ahead of myself, I won’t have to worry about forthcoming plans as often but alas, that will never happen in this near future. Babe, when this laptop computer arrives, I hope that it changes my lively chronology dramatically and that all days will be expended ones…
