Bombshells At Work

These bombshells just keep coming and coming and coming. Each day is a successive mystery, where foresight would deem it harmless but once there, a thousand stories shed their skins. Today I found out the true hospitality of HIH and how my respect for this company will truly decline all the greater from today. Not only does everything take forever to be resolved, the tension between many different groups within the company and everyone fending for themselves, the doggy dog world of HIH has opened its doors infamously.

Today at work I found out that Tatiana was quitting work, taking a few weeks off, unsure on exactly where she wants to take her life. Knowing that she will be quitting, management and David to some part played a role in deciding that she wouldn’t need to be replaced. Therefore, with no blame placed on Tatiana’s decision, I feel it is bitterly unfair how Kelsey and Edith now stand to lose their jobs as Legal is such a small place with no room to promotion or placement.

With the big heads deciding that Tatiana wouldn’t need to be replaced, I figured this was the topping of everyone’s thought that FAI was being phased out and Kelsey along with it. All day I was thinking to myself “Why did this have to happen to such a great person like Kelsey”, knowing she’d been working with FAI for years, saving for a house and all of a sudden, her once safe job has now fallen from under her. If I had the opportunity of sacrificing my job for her then I would do it in an instant.

Kelsey looked depressed and glum sitting at her desk today, almost as if the work she was pumping out was useless to do. In her mind she would have been thinking “Why should I bother with this work when HIH has disowned me without a care in the world” and too right, she should loathe them as much as myself for such a heedless decision.

Who Else Loses Out

If Edith loses her job, I feel that it will create more friction in legal as Livia is her daughter who with her complaint about workers compensation will probably see her resigning out of disgust of ethics. What’s more, I also learnt from Najla who was speaking with Kelsey on Friday on how they could have given Ottilie’s position to Edith so at least one of them could be saved from sacrifice.

However, it was bitter to hear that with Tatiana’s resignation being broadcast before the interviewing began for Ottilie’s position, they decided to go ahead with someone new. I wanted to walk to the station with Kelsey today and pass on my condolences and sympathy but I figured I should let her walk out with her true friend Zenia who will undoubtedly be affected as well.

In lighter note, if Kelsey does leave I’ll miss inadvertently glancing over at her legs of perfect hue and shape, thinking to myself “He must be a very lucky man”. It’s always been the beautiful ones who have left the legal department for one reason or the other and now Kelsey will be another to that collection of dismal departures.

On the bright side of HIH’s dark side, we might get the opportunity to finally have two desks to ourselves as the legal floater would sit on either of their desks but with so much rooms available up for grabs, it will be like a swarm of crows waiting to peck upon the feebly ruined.

Late For Work Again

As that can be my only flimsy insight into today’s happenings but a telling one, let me now begin upon Thursday night, hoping that I can finish it by tonight and only be behind by five nights when Tuesday arrives. Thursday morning, one of praise knowing I’m already halfway through the fortnight and yet, it feeling like such a quick week.

Leisurely waking up, I readied myself just below par to which I was unlucky in just missing the bus. Therefore, catching the late bus and train, I slept for the whole duration of the trip, from the onset where I crashed my head against the window to the arriving at the City Circle where I finally woke up and headed to work.

Sitting With Karina

Thursday felt like a crowded day, both by undulated conversation and the amount of room we had to work with. Feeling like Najla’s inflated silent hatred was too big for the both of us to sit at one desk, I sat with Karina for most of the day. Being the female equivalent of Ralf but instead of talking shit just talking about shit, she with her slowed words sat there chatting with me for most of the day as I tiredly listened.

Being the second day in a row now sitting at Karina’s desk, the better portion of my choosing was because Najla seemed aggravated that I had been late for work this second time. Anyway, in all the conversations that I had with Karina, the wackiest would have been her restrain from eating too much chewing gum. “I’m trying to quit chewing” she noted, explaining her idioms of how she used to chew religiously she did smoking but decided to give both of them the flick.

Each time that Karina started chatting with me while I was upon her desk, I would glance over at Najla who would look as if she was busy but you could see in her coldly vacant face that she was thinking scornful thoughts about me. “Do you work” would have been going through her Catholic Girl mind but tit for tat, she doesn’t do much work on many occasions either.

Working Out Karina

As much as Karina prevented me from working, her flagrantly dull conversations helped me to figure her out that touch quicker. My impression of Karina after this short willful experience is complex but simple to her stereotype. For a starter, Karina slightly resembles Alanis Morissette, just a little on the edge of being a Mohican and presumably recovering from a drug fucked stage (Only on the outside, not truth).

Karina is a very forward person, stating her opinions in the manner that I would feel she was probably some public speaker about free sex in the sixties. Straightly put, Karina is a Greenie mixed in with a couple more naturalistic ingredients which would include the tendency to shop at Newtown or even breed there. Karina drinks her six glasses of water a day, talks about free radicals in your body and how you should coat your apple with lemon each time you bite into it because it stops the apple from rusting (Her own words).

Working only because she has to pay the rent, Karina preaches how she wants everyone in life to be equal. Shedding her discrepancies about David, she noted that he would always snob her off and arguing that she was the one he turned to who did his work she uttered “All I want is a hello each morning, that’s all I want”. “I hate people who abuse their power” Karina remarked taking her usual breather from work.

“I believe that everyone is equal, the Solicitor, the administration assistant, even the street sweeper on the road”. Karina strongly thought that David abused his status, degrading people below him by not having the decency to say hello. Moving on to explain how David was just one big puzzle to solve, she showed me the Dictaphone work she was typing up from David’s recorded notation, picking on his child-like grammar and overuse of baby words.

Pointing out that David was intensely monotonous, she showed me a paragraph out of the blue which had ‘I noted’ starting almost every sentence as well as ‘coincidentally’ chucked in there very frequently. Karina wasn’t full of negativity all day but rather, a constant whinger faced with brevity in her concurrent attacks. As much as I preferred sitting next to Karina for the day, I endeared Najla’s loathing attitude towards me to which we didn’t speak for the whole day save for a couple of words.
