Aching From Skirmish

Bright and early morning risers, take heed to the massive job at hand, inevitable that I had to stay home. You probably would have realized by now that I’ve chosen to stay home and the nature of my intent but babe, do my legs ache right now. It feels like I’ve worked them out too hard at the Gym to which I can hardly walk without buckling. Therefore, there is some reason beyond obligation that I have chosen to stay home, all these bruises and aching muscles in my body.

There’s even a lump on the right side of my head just above and behind my ear. There were more head shots in skirmish than any other that I was accountable for. A great workout yesterday, jumping headlong into bunkers and slipping through mud and grass. To an extent, today I also get to save some of the money I just don’t have for work today. All that I have left in possession after spending $100 at skirmish on Sunday is $6 after buying my train ticket.

Now mum told me that she’d spare me a couple of dollars if I needed it for work so that’s gratifying and when I get paid this Thursday, I’ll pay her back what I owe. For the last ten hours I’ve enjoyed a comforting sleep, one that sparingly is enjoyed in these days of domineering work. However, with this refreshed mind set I begin upon the tale of Wednesday last, hoping that we can swim fluidly through this collaboration of old events and past chronology.

A Girl on the Train

Wednesday brought no displeasure nor brings no frantic elaboration. Rather, the better of the portion I care to explain with ballistic description hereof. Due to a lack of notation on that given day, I don’t have much to go off and have to with my memory recall such past events. What best I remember is the train trip to the City and how I sat behind a girl that reminded me of Velda, one of Lyssa’s old friends.

Sitting right behind her, from the back she looked almost identical to Velda and even though I knew this was most definitely someone else, I kept my dazed eyes upon her, trying to figure out what the front of her face would look like. What made me realize that this indeed wasn’t Velda was the Lebanese girl sitting next to this beautiful maiden, hinting that she might also be Lebanese. Struck with awe to her long slender fingers and the colorful nail-polish upon her browned complexion, my excitement had seen my heart beat raise a couple of notches, now eager to see what her face looked like.

There were a couple of moments on the train when she turned to the side appearing to look out the window but I feel that because of my excited gazing her Lebanese friend (To whom I’ve seen before) probably hinted there was a lustful guy behind her. If it wasn’t Velda I had no doubt that I’d seen this girl before and as her tall and commanding figure stood up quite elegantly, I saw her for who she was.

Excited to see the both of them jump off at Wynyard as I did, I still couldn’t see her face but adored her lofty body and gentle curves. It wasn’t until we were downstairs and I glanced to my side that I noticed she was Lebanese but not as a normal Lebanese woman. The most that I do adore are the Lebanese girls who look more Mediterranean, without so much hair, a great tan and looking Italian or almost Macedonian. This girl had class and as we walked up the stairs, I admired her beauty that touch more before disappearing off to work.

The Law Booklet

There was nothing doing in the morning apart from the mail which Najla as per usual was so eager to attend. The only exaggeration to a blasé day was my spotting an A5 sized law booklet which automatically drew my attention to the crisp new pages, their smooth touch of silk and the attractive slim size. “Hey, this is a mad book” I noted to Najla as I made her feel the pages.

Common sense prevailed for her as she put one and one together and realized that I was so interested in the format of the book because I wanted to create one of my own for the memoirs. However, Najla showed as much interest for my intentions as she does for filing and as I kept referring to the book, she started to get irritated in her own way. Flicking through the book, I wanted to know where the booklet was printed and the only clue was that the courts themselves published or printed the book themselves.

Plans for the Laptop

These words may seem a cliché but to me, continuity of dreams upon these pages will only help me realize them quicker by keeping my mind on the game. This Thursday is the last of my pay that will be fully devoted to fashion or accessories thereof. Whence the new month arrives, preservation for my laptop computer will begin which in the long run will be a more manageable time for my memoirs. Within the saving for my laptop computer I will open the doors to many more aspirations and old dreams.

During the conserving time of the laptop I will not only draw attention to the rebuilding of my racer but I’ll also invest money into dreads around November when I have almost saved completely for my laptop computer. With summer’s fortune at hand, I will save and save until there is no saving left to do. By this time I hope to have secured a raise from work which of course will greatly help me gain that car sooner.

However, as I want to start throwing money and suggestion into the enterprise of my memoirs, I will dedicate time and energy to such a request when Summer and Autumn arise. So there you have it, a laptop computer to regulate and given some time, a series of books to compensate. I can’t wait for the day that I sit down and start manipulating my entries, correcting all the spelling, giving rightful title to each month or each series of months that are based on one emphasis, like the lost years.

I can’t wait to draw up a picture for the front cover so I can give my graphic design influences that added flavor of professionalism. Not only will I allow my creative juices to flow, I will be compensated with fashion and a second hand car that will give me the freedom I desire. Life is looking good, praise my planning expertise and my patience for what will so rightfully be mine. These ideas will come full circle when best I predict them with these words and mark them, for my forsythe of prediction is far more substantial than mocking pessimism.

Liter Rematch

With Najla and I helping each other to complete the mail, I brought up our argument the day before uttering “So, you didn’t bring your sisters text book did you”. Najla was still intent on believing that a liter of oil would hold the same weight as a liter of water, and I, believing still that they are of the same volume but different heaviness. Far from our ongoing contradiction, Thalia reminded us that we were having a meeting upstairs, for all the new people that have joined HIH in the past three months.

Double checking what time I had to head upstairs on the email, I realized that it was only me and Jana to head up with eight other new recruits at 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Najla on the other hand was traveling up with Linh, Rhett, Delphi and a bunch of other new people. Finally, Linh and Rhett were going to get their dream of chatting with Delphi and in some small portion, Linh would also finally chat with Najla. Therefore, it was an hour to look forward on both our parts, where we would sit back, relax and learn some information about the company.

Just a couple of little noteworthy sentences of our morning before heading off to lunch. If ever there was a word to explain David and if not done so already, it would have to be kooky. As Linh pointed out, he must be the laziest solicitor around as they walk past his office and either see him with his feet on the table lounging back in his own world or doing some other zany thing.

Another small point I will make is the origin of my learning a new word. Heading over to Jana’s desk as she called up my phone and asked me over, she showed me an invoice that was placed in the mail and then uttered “I don’t want to be pedantic but can you do it as such”. “Pedantic aye” I voiced sarcastically as I headed back to my desk to which later in the day I checked the thesaurus on the computer for its meaning.

Chairs in the Hallway

Another little episode in the morning was management finally listening to our cries for better seating as two ladies have already claimed for workers compensation in the legal department. Much to my unaware state, I heard my name being called out along with Najla’s and had no clue as to why everyone was getting called out for assistance. When seeing the seats and all the excitement on everyone’s face, I helped pull some from just outside the door in the hall. Much chatter surrounded the chairs as I brought in the last bunch, with one seat turned around on top of the other.

Spinning the wheels around as if they were a helicopters propeller, we examined them to which my first impression was they were too hard, sturdy and they looked like car seat covers from the 80’s. When David got together with Margot to check them out their instant reaction was “Send them back”. The problem with the chairs was that they didn’t have adjustable height and they had arms to which we wanted chairs without arms. “The lady who was chatting to us in our meeting two or three weeks ago about the chairs was looking on and taking in our intent to have them changed.

“Why does management keep cutting corners” one of the onlookers noted as I myself couldn’t believe the disgraceful turnaround. Najla was quick to take off the plastic wrapping over the chairs but as I handed a chair to Esme and took one over to my desk, I didn’t even bother sitting down on it. The chairs weren’t compliant to the safety standards of a typists chair and so, we left the ten chairs there in protest which originally blocked passage through the hallway in legal but within half an hour, they were lined up against the walls neatly.

The material of the seat was very stiff and along with the purple to red color that reminded me of Scotland, it just wasn’t the inviting colors that would have all of legal elated with our new chairs. To tell you the truth, I preferred my old seat with the arms and it was a good thing that we didn’t end up getting these seats after all.
