Heading Home From Sharks
Heading out of ‘Sharks’ I read a sign that both cracked me up and gave me some insight into the people that owned the place. The sign read “Please tell all your friends we are here, have a pleasing time” and instantaneously, it made me fully aware that they were Asians alright. Sharing my newly found knowledge we all had a little laugh on our way to the car and then sparked up to head home, chatting most of the way there.
For a little while the mood was quiet as we were listening to the radio but as this certain person with no clue was on all our minds, Ralf decided to break the silent deadlock. Mentioning something about Keith and his persistency with Tamsen, Shawn and I just jumped right into the one sided argument. In my speech I noted how Keith at one stage was venomous with Tamsen in which he sent her hate messages and wanted to tell her he had sex with Phoenix.
“Keith just loves evening the score” Ralf chuckled speaking his words of wisdom. There was much truth in this as Ralf spun off into the past, school and how Keith always waited to get even. There was a particular occurring incident when Ralf used to take ages to get ready and Keith would get the shits. One day, Ralf set out to pick up Keith and loving to get even, Keith was purposefully being late.
“How do you like it, how do you like waiting” Keith questioned in which Ralf didn’t really care. The three of us laughed at Keith’s expense when his evening the score backfired. “Let’s get out of here, leave Keith behind” Shawn uttered on the night and never more faster and able did you see Keith get dressed. “Nah” Keith begged, “Wait for me, I’ll only be ten minutes”, how funny is that.
School Days With Keith
As Ralf started to bring out old memories he decided to include Keith and his being a loser in all of them. Starting with the novelty of Keith being an outcast in his group, he was always teased and made fun. Keith kept telling people like Tino and Tatton how he hated the group he was hanging around with and how he wanted some new friends. “Why don’t you come hang out with us”
Tino uttered one day in a time I think when I used to know the all of them, when Imad lived on Keith’s street. Keith ended up hanging out with different people for a little while but as you can see, he’s back with the originals. Ralf and Shawn brought back their memories of how they barricaded the Science door from Mr. Kendrick getting in one day. “Ha, ha, very funny” he used to note as he was barging the door continuously.
“I’m not nowhere near the door” Shawn would reply as Ralf would remark “The door’s just stuck”. Mr. Kendrick would be standing there barging the door and I think I remembered an instance like that. I remember walking past one of those halls and in my earlier years at school, this was my first remembrance of Shawn and Ralf. I recall that they were on one side and Mr. Kendrick was on the other and as I stopped next to Mr.
Kendrick I asked him what was going on. Sticking around for a little while Mr. Kendrick was just about to barge at the door again when the door quickly opened up. If memory serves me correctly (And why wouldn’t it with such continually extensive elaboration) I do remember it to be Ralf and Shawn in which Mr. Kendrick walked into the room warning them not to hold up the door. From there I kept walking down the corridor, thinking the same damning thoughts about Mr. Kendrick, the horse jockey and the pervert who was at Eros Theatre.
Demountables And Batman Jumpers
With talk of school still on our minds Ralf also mentioned how Keith once got picked up by the scruff, dragged over to the demountables and bashed by some big Samoan guy. Keith was beaten up because he beat this Samoan in a game of handball and was braggart about it. The most amusing portion of this story was how Keith was continually yelling “Get!!” whilst being squished under the demountables and continually beaten into. Mind you, back when we were that young there was no such thing as hard hits or continuous punches and therefore, he wouldn’t have been too badly damaged.
Keith was meant to yell out “Get off” but in his fear one word is all he could muster. Deciding to add a portion of my own antecedence to the fire, I thought to ask “Do you remember me at school”. Shawn couldn’t remember me at all but Ralf recalled that I used to always be dressed in brown pants, a green shirt and a green jumper, always wrapped around my waist. My style never changed as neither did my long scruffy hair.
Having a good old laugh at how I used to wear the same school uniform everyday at school as well as occasionally on weekends I decided to bring on our next big laugh. The only thing I ever had bought for me while at school was a Batman jumper. Even when I did buy the jumper I only wore it a couple of times because I had grown out of the caped crusader look. Ralf and Shawn had a huge laugh at my Batman jumper and my inability to change clothes, Shawn was hardest hit with amusement.
Sunday Night And Monday Morning
Heading home after our day out I jumped onto my diary for the rest of chronology as I also watched the Tennis Finals. There wasn’t any much action for the rest of Sunday night as I just chilled in front of my computer. The hours drew out as I didn’t finish writing in my diary until a touch after midnight. Even then, I didn’t get to sleep until 12:45 a.m. because I was intrigued in Tennis. Despite my only having short sleep for my following Monday I found it to be vitally enough.
Doing all the things I would normally do in the morning I readied myself for work and headed out for the bus. Ever so slightly I am getting up a little later and now I am having to run for the bus in the mornings. One day I will completely miss my normal bus but it doesn’t matter too greatly as the next train will get me in just a touch late.
On the train to work I was sitting on the opposite side to which I normally do and therefore, I couldn’t get a good look at if Lyssa was jumping off at St. James. Monday was indeed our one year remembrance of our breaking up in 1998 and I knew from the beginning of the day that I had to see her or speak to her somehow. Feeling a touch empty as I jumped off the train I made my way to work and in unsolicited ways thought of Lyssa frequently through the day.
Xavier Keeps Ringing
Monday was just one of those periods through the week where you’re just trying to get over the weekend and into a groove at work. What most I remember of Monday is how Xavier was persistently ringing me at work. Such headstrong perseverance was shown by Xavier to get in contact with me as he called just after 9:00 a.m., then at 11:00 a.m. and shortly before I headed off for lunch. Najla was cracking jokes about how I was going out with an older guy and how I should have fun in which I think we were both oblivious to his background.
Najla also received a call from her boyfriend feigning who he was by saying he wanted to talk to me. Najla looked through his little scheme as the both of them chatted a little while. After that we got to doing our briefs and when midday arrived it was time for me to head out to an unsuspecting lunch date with Xavier. That’s where I’m going to have to leave it, in a horde of suspense on many subjects. You will have to learn in later writing the sinister mannerism of Xavier which keeps my malevolency at hand.
You will also learn of my night with Lyssa on Monday and how it came to begin and conclude. You will hear of how I visited Imad that night, our conversation and the concluding tale of Xavier on Tuesday and Wednesday. Ambiguity seems to be the air around my actions thus far, with time I shall explain. The time now is 11:10 p.m. and promising myself an earlier night, I will do so…
