Another Errand

Not even had I been back at work for two minutes did I get sent out on another errand, this time for Margot. Not being able to knock her offer of feeling at peace with the world a third time around for the day, I headed out with a package under my hand. The delivery was another brisk walk up to Phillip Street to one of the barristers there and on the way back, I checked out a shop full of bags.

Trying to find a carry bag for work with a flip top, no key lock and made of leather with an intricate interior design, I found no such thing at the bag shop I visited. Disheartened in my bid to find the perfect leather bag for work, I made the rest of my journey to work, looking into the glasses shop at the clear lens contact glasses I yearn to buy but always think “Three hundred dollars is way too much to spend on a fashion accessory”.

However, as I had been told today again by a mystery opinion that will later be revealed, glasses really suit me, even if they’re not mine. Therefore, I am at a crossroad, where I know I won’t have money to spend on expensive glasses in the short run and only in a couple of months after I have bought my laptop can I make such a decision. Instead, for this next payment, I will pay off my puff jacket, buy those Black Fly Sunglasses from Nitrogen and with my next payment I’ll look forward to purchasing contact lenses which will take a large chunk out of my payment.

Cake In The Kitchen

Late in the afternoon, after the errands were complete and both Najla and I got stuck into the outgoing mail early, there was commotion to head for the kitchen so we could all get some of David’s cake. Heading out with Najla and Thalia by my side, we stood around as a girl called Bernadette was also having her birthday, being the bitchy looking one but good looking. Whilst standing there, Jonas came over for a little chat, including Thalia and Najla in conversation with his boisterous but blasé attitude.

In our little chat, the door to the kitchen from the outside corridor opened and to our surprise, David bust in and shouted “Surprise”. David as the canker of wackiness never seems to surprise me in his bid to be that little prankster kid. Everyone had a little laugh at David’s joke of yelling out ‘Surprise’ when it was his own birthday and as he made his way to his chocolate and coffee cake which tasted quite good, we all sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to him.

Mind you, I again was too embarrassed to raise my voice into a song so I just mimed the words, caring not to make a fool of myself in being one of the only male voices that could be so distinguishably heard and judged through the façade of lady voices. When all was done, we waited around for a piece of cake to which Jonas and Linh didn’t take a piece of cake because they didn’t feel a part of the celebrations. I can emphasize with them as when someone has a birthday that I don’t know, then I won’t be taking that piece of cake.

Heading back to our little space in the office, Jana asked me why I didn’t get my email message in regards to David’s birthday cake celebration being in the kitchen. Noting that we weren’t hooked up to email, Thalia came over to our computer and made a startling discovery. Laughing out loud as well as uttering “Oh my god” she opened the email message screen that I couldn’t access myself and found at least two hundred messages, backdating until when Thalia had left administration. Shocked at the amount of messages, Thalia thought it would be best to delete them all but we left them on the computer for my further reading on Tuesday and thereafter.

Something For The Memoirs

Out of context and in regards to something David had said to me during the day now. Making his way over to our section when I was all alone and mostly everyone was at lunch, it seemed like he wanted to make his way into my memoirs. David probably sees my memoirs as one day being a big seller so he thought on Friday afternoon that he would shed some of his philosophy and then make the comment “There’s something to put in your memoirs”.

Well, insisting that I would indeed shed it to these pages, here is David’s shared insight with my mind and these pages. Pointing to the mail that was still to be handed around to everyone, he exclaimed “There are seventy people in there that we deal with everyday, seventy humans”. With his cocky eyes open and his self-intrigued portrait to life at full bloom, he continued by pointing at the filing system and adding “Look at all those people in our files, all of them are somebody”.

Finally, David pointed to the closed files still waiting to be done and thought to remark “Those are our dead corpses”. A fitting ending to his lacking tongue to verbal philosophy that these pages can only procreate to a greater bias of understanding. If David wants to be remembered and be plastered in gold upon these pages, all he has to do is just keep talking, being his zany and out-there self.

I gather that David tendered the philosophers adage simply because he wanted to get remembered in some way on his birthday and what better way of remembrance to his zany attributes than to be remembered at best in these pages. Although David may never get to see them or even if they never make it past my hands of endearment, he can be sure that they will be forever in these pages.

Walk To The Hotel

When the day had reached 4:00 p.m., the call was on to head for David’s party. Gathering everyone together, we all caught the lift down and as David made his way to his car in the garage, a couple of us made our way to the hotel. Being Jana, Blythe, Thalia, Najla, Esme (Who felt like she was left out of everything until she was invited) and myself, we made our lost journey. Jana and I seemed to be on a different level on our brisk walk as I got to see the playful side of her that suits her.

In addition, I was being my playful self as she kept asking “Where is this place” and I kept pointing ahead to a close building and noting “There, that’s where we have to go”. Sounding naïve as she replied “That’s not where we have to go” she playfully nudged me on the shoulder a couple of times. In our little journey, as I stood next to Jana, I heard her chatting to Blythe on the topic of clubs and how she had to quickly get changed after the party into some chunky high heels.

Jana sounded a touch boastful, like I get when it comes to talking about clothing, wanting people to hear and know that I have style. Paying a dab of attention as Jana probably wanted me to, we headed to the hotel and making our way in, the waiter began arranging tables and chairs for what a large group would arrive. Soon enough everyone else in legal arrived as well as a couple of barristers who were David’s friends as well as Margot’s husband who I think was a barrister himself.

Toasts And A Fishing Reel

Being introduced to him as well as all the other barristers, David made some joking remark about how we were the only two males in legal and how we were both bigots or something on the lines of that meaning. As the crowd started to gather, Kelsey came over and talked with Najla, Thalia and myself as everyone else chatted away in their own little groups. Margot ended up making a toast, having the all of us stand for David who received his present.

Knowing that it would have something to do with fishing, he let the jokes fly when he noticed it was a fishing reel. “This is only three bearings, I only use five bearings” he uttered in a sarcasm and as Margot noted she could take it back and how she used Gawain’s assistance, David noted that he could find a use for it when he heads out on a big fishing trip at the end of this year.

Blythe and Jana were the first two to leave when the clock struck 5:00 p.m. and as our little group was keen to head off, I was the voice that noted we should stay for a little while. Having fun eating my little complimentary biscuits of such, it wasn’t until around 5:20 p.m. that we decided it was time to head home. On our slow walk around the chairs towards the door, I shook David’s hand and wished him a happy birthday and a great night and on the way out I also said goodbye to Margot, her man and anyone else that would care to listen.

Train Home Chatter

The four of us made our little journey to the station and then when everyone broke off, Kelsey and I ended up jumping on the first available train together. For a little while the both of us stood there chatting away and as the train took off, she headed downstairs to find herself a seat as I kept myself standing, waiting for Central Station to arrive. Whilst standing Jonas came over and sparked up conversation with me in the five minutes I was available.

Noting that I had just been chatting with Kelsey, he noted that Zenia was a couple of carriages down but I didn’t want to rouse Kelsey with such information so I just let her be. When Central Station arrived I jumped off with two minutes to spare before my express train left and even as I jogged down, I knew I would be too late. My hunch was correct as I turned around disappointed, having to wait another ten minutes before I could catch my next train back to Campbelltown.

Staying In On Friday

When finally back at home after an arduous travel home that spotted a touch of sleep, I rested blissfully without touching the computer. While I was sitting back and watching the Football game between Brisbane and Newcastle Knights, I received a call from Keith. Being down at the Catholic Club, he asked if I wanted to come along but considering his lame conversation when last I talked with him, I didn’t want to waste my energy and night to get ready and meet him down there.

Earlier in the day, I think it was at 2:00 p.m., Keith called me at work and chatted about the night coming. What really made me think that Keith was lame is when he pleaded “I’ll go out, just you and me if we have to”, knowing well enough that he would dog me on a whim if Tamsen so much as breathed in his ear. That is most of the reason why I rejected Keith’s offer to head out for Friday night.

In addition, I was too tired, not inspired enough and I had been turned off clubbing by the bullshit I had to endure last weekend. “Who’s at the Catholic Club with you” I asked and for the first time, he sounded vulnerable to his normal tendencies. Instead of boastfully trying to get me down to the Catholic Club with his lies, Keith lay down to the fact that I always reject his proposals regardless these days. Therefore, as he noted that it was himself, Tamsen, Binh, Vedat and Tyler, it didn’t tempt me the least to join them down there.

“Come on man, Tyler’s missing you” he added which turned me from going out all the more because I knew Keith was speaking for Tyler to which he would have never uttered. That’s probably part of the reason that Tyler got pissed off and racked off on Keith. Friday night ended for me without a splash of chronology admitted to these pages. Getting to sleep at 11:00 p.m., I done so because I became lethargic from eating liver and onion. This trend of getting to sleep before midnight hadn’t tired on me throughout the weekend because I always got to sleep before midnight.

My meaty-bite friends, feast on the fact that I shall close my eyes and get some sleep tonight. Having explained two day’s worth of chronology and being up to date with this new month now, I shall welcome the offer of sleep at this late hour of 11:20 p.m. and see you when best suits tomorrow night. Still, I have to speak of the better portions of Sunday, my heading to the Gym and my telling conversation with Lyssa that spilled into Monday, another story untold. There will come a day soon enough when chronology will have caught itself up and as I had done so a couple of weeks back, I will achieve that result again…
