A Late Train and a Mole

Speaking of Friday now and trying with lightning touch for explanation, let me begin. From what I do remember, the morning showed no empathy to my need of waking up. Rather, choosing to stay in bed a little longer and taking that longer shower, I didn’t get to work until 9:15 a.m., half an hour late. Despite that, from my catching the later than late train, there was some good coming out of it.

The girl that I had seen on my last late train who was sitting in front of me with the blonde hair and the Chinese skirt, she was there again. I’m pretty sure that I’ve commented about this thus far (Although I can never be too sure when I’m always chasing my tail), I recall her sitting in front of me again.

There isn’t much I can share about my trip I don’t think has already been noted but apart from my sleeping most of the way, I do remember one important detail of remembrance. The blonde girl had a mole on her left cheek, a little black one that made her stand out from anyone else I would mix her up with. Now, each time I see her on the train I will be able to know it’s her and if I ever see her at the Catholic Club, yep, her…

Teriyaki at Circular Quay

Methinks that the brunt of Friday would have otherwise been noted in past chronicling but let me just rip a couple of pointers. Firstly, everyone at work on Friday kept noting my conjunctivitis eye again. From work, I transferred the problem from my left eye to the right and for the next night or two, both eyes had conjunctivitis. Having not seen Linh at work all day, I said hello to Calla in which I say hello to her more often now and I also had a little chat to Jonas as I headed past the kitchen with Najla.

For lunch I decided to catch the train to Circular Quay after buying myself some Teriyaki. Instead of sitting on the tables I sat myself in the park upon the grass and gilding brisk sun. This is my newest spot as opposed to Hyde Park which is a pain upon public transport and always gets me back to work five minutes late. After eating my lunch and having half an hour to spare, I had time to check out Captain Cook Cruises before catching the train back to Wynyard.

Taking a brochure from the lady at the ticket counter, I learnt that a cruise would cost me around $90 and with a nightclub, the night would only last three hours, not worth it. Anyway, I had fun chatting to the girl behind the Perspex counter with my grumbling cold. At one stage she surprised me by turning on the small loudspeaker, just so she could talk to me while I was standing right there.

Briefs and a Duck Bill

When back at work I guess I done a brief or two where I mostly sat back and relaxed for the rest of my Friday. Because I was feeling sick I didn’t really yield too much effort into preparation. For the last couple of days at work I hadn’t bothered to send out briefs, letting them pile up on my list. However, today the guy from photocopying couldn’t stop walking through our doors. All in all, the delivery guy headed to our work seven times to deliver photocopied briefs upon briefs.

I’m going to have a field day tomorrow and the next where I should have the brunt of it finished by Monday. Let me just note, if I had a choice between barristers you can’t seem to find and files you can’t seem to find, it would be a hard choice. On one hand, when I call up a barrister to confirm that he still has an aging brief sitting in his files, I hate the talking to the Receptionist and everything else that goes with it.

In addition, I hate trying to look for David’s files or anyone else in particular when I have to send it off to get photocopied because I never find them. To ease my stress from these two little quandaries, I drew myself a little duck on a post it note and used a sticky thing that sort of looked like a large yellow finger nail in its shape. Using this as the duck bill and painting on two nostrils, Najla and I had a laugh at my creativity, a pleasant ending to the day. Catching the normal train home for Friday I caught my bus and the rest has been noted.

Lyssa on the Train

Jumping now way into Monday morning, it started off fairly smoothly despite it being a Monday. There was no loss of time in the morning to my recollection as I slept like a baby the following night. Feeling adrift as I caught my bus, when it came to walking through the already open ticket gates and sitting myself down on the train, I had a strange feeling within me as the train took off.

Well actually, it wasn’t until we stopped at Leumeah that I thought to myself “Hey, I have a strange feeling that I’m going to see Lyssa walking up those stairs to sit with me”. For some reason, I just thought that Lyssa was going to go out of her way, walk over to the second carriage and sit with me for the whole trip to the City.

Seeing a touch of blonde walk up the stairs, I didn’t bother holding my breath but rather, smiled as I saw Lyssa walking towards me, equaling my smile. Feeling that people were eyeing the both of us when she sat next to me as always happens, we welcomed each other and began some small chit chat. Being as tired as I was, after a couple of stations, Lyssa started reading her magazine and I lay my head on the window and began my sleeping ways.

No Lunch for Me

Trying to coax Lyssa into sleeping so that she might lay her head on my shoulder, she was forward and uncaring to who heard her being a bitch when she told me she never sleeps on trains. Nearing St. James I asked Lyssa if she wanted to have lunch with me but she denied me, noting “I don’t feel like walking to Centrepoint today”. The obvious thought of loathing that entered my mind was how Lyssa only made plans with me and hunted me down when she wanted to use me.

There was no benefit at all for Lyssa having lunch with me and as she thinks I’m a loser, she opted not to have lunch with me. As much as I hate flat rejection, I hate Lyssa only doing things for perpetual benefit in regards to profitable outcomes. What’s more, I’ve seen and heard the last of the taxi money Lyssa told me that she would pay back.

Being the queen of procrastination on the night, she failed to hand me the money and showed less enthusiasm on the train, acting like she had forgotten when in reality she was probably crossing her fingers, hoping I wouldn’t bring it up. To Lyssa, my taking back ten dollars owed to me was her way of loosing her money, not of paying back a debt and that’s what pisses me off. Lyssa abuses me when it comes to money and to all her worth, she uses me…

Thalia’s Weekend Cough

The morning brought much appraisal and slow starts to the day. I learnt from Thalia’s constant whooping cough that she was sick all through the weekend. Thalia came over to our desk and sarcastically noted that I had given it to her but noting that it was a different cough altogether to mine, I pledged that she got it from elsewhere. In conversation, Thalia told me about her weekend and as I noted that I had seen Jonas at Chevy’s, Thalia noted that she had seen him on Saturday night at Sharks Hotel.

“He gets around doesn’t he” she noted which isn’t far from the truth. Early in the morning I had a chat with Linh at his desk and tried to make arrangements for the both of us to have lunch but Najla was persistent in thinking she was having lunch at midday. In the end, Najla ended up going to court with Jana at 11:00 a.m. and she didn’t end up coming back until 12:30 p.m.

Rubber Bands With Najla

Therefore, I could have gone out to lunch and everything would have been fine but I chose to stay behind and have lunch at 1:00 p.m. as to my plans would allow. On occasion through the day and as we have been doing sporadically through these weeks, the two of us were flicking rubber bands at the computer and the walls. Sitting back with a bunch of rubber bands, we would try and flick them off the computer screen and over the barrier into Esme’s section in which she was away for the day.

Najla had also brought to work a picture of her and her boyfriend together as well as a picture of some drawn saint lady How church-going can you get, when we would nearly flick the saintly picture and she would say sorry to the picture of her praise and praying.

A Wallet in the Taxi

Two other pointers that I will note about Monday is that I was sent off by Jana to hand in the petty cash documents to the office in Bridge Street. There were no dramas on the way there in my first taxi and as I headed to accounts and dropped off the packet like I was the terminator on a quick mission, I robustly headed back to the lifts and downstairs. Catching my second taxi back to work, almost instantly as I sat down I grabbed a wallet sitting right next to me.

Brown, old and scruffy looking, I didn’t think twice but to raise it to the taxi driver’s view and note what I had found. Sounding Mexican or Latino, he thanked me for being so good not to take the wallet and noted that he would probably be receiving a call in soon on the radio in regards to the wallet. Thinking that he was only rambling on, I was surprised that there was a call through so quickly for the wallet in which the guy tracked his correct cab down.

Thanking me for being so honest, I didn’t even think about it when first seeing it, being a thief wasn’t in my mind. As I was dropped off back to work I noted how I once had my wallet stolen and I know how it feels. Pledging that I would be just like the kind hearted person that returned my wallet, he praised me once again as I jumped out of the taxi and made my way back to work.

Gawain in the Toilets

The last thing I shall mention about Monday at work includes my chat with Gawain after coming back from my taxi trip. Heading into the toilets to quickly blow my nose, as to before, I bumped into Gawain. Being only the two of us in the toilets, we chatted about clubs dominantly and in those words he casually invited me out with him one night. Noting that he went to underground clubs, he mentioned his heading out to a club called ‘Raven’ in a couple of weeks in which he included me upon his planning.

Gawain noted how he lived in Mount Druitt in which he was brought up around a bunch of Lebs that he now knows to be his friends. Gawain’s heading down with his Leb friends to raven and if I head down with him, I figure that I’d fit in nicely. Heading out of the toilets together and before he headed back to his office, we chatted some more about the club.

Noting that I used to hang out with Lebs back in the day, I went through the list of swear words I knew, sounding proud as we both said goodbye to each other for the day. Today I also spotted Gawain who dare I say, cut his hair off and looks different. The both of us are now being more friendly to each other as we say hello and on the odd occasion that we are alone, we chat as friends…

Shorter Chronology

That my friends shall be the end of my explanation. You see, shorter chronology and lesser depiction can be achieved. Despite my being tryptophane encumbered and with these tired eyes, the excuse has triggered off this shortness of depiction. These I hope are a sign of the times to come with less pages and less depiction seeing for a fitter night of sleep and better concentration to life in general. These laden pages with each successive finger’s typing does overload eventfulness to certain fatigue.

As I trip upon these words and fall pray to sleep tonight, remember this catastrophe of words that led to four hundred pages and plus of literature to persist for just the one month. Let us also remember this as the most ingenious contraption to words, just philosophy without the impediment of poetry, if you insist upon looking at it that way. Just straight chronology, whichever way you look at it, thick and raw, for your dissecting pleasure. Thursday, Friday and Monday are complete.

When tomorrow is concluded, I’ll only have it, Tuesday and Wednesday to write of. Let us hope that the weekdays are completed before the weekend arrives as if that’s not the case, we’ll have a problem of belated chronology again on our hands. However, I feel that the new month will start afresh, without the backlog of chronology that will deplete from the new energy at hand I so deserve, away from these dastard thoughts and castigating remarks from such alike of Lyssa…
