Spring on the Way
Another day and yet, another bombshell to be dropped. People’s lives are on the up and down, others are influenced by such sudden changes and I, caught in the middle with these memoirs shall depict. As winter in its last few days drops the last of its menacing bombshells, I favor the call of spring in these robustly warm days to bring fresh air into my life.
It seems that each day I jump on the train in the morning I’m ready to meet someone new and today fared no different as another entity, faceless but to what words describe, shall to these pages be prescribed. The old with winter freeze and the new, with life borne, in spring anew. For the recollection of today’s events, I shall have but to chronology attend favorably and then which I must to this day of days, where work upon work meet and blood upon life greet.
Waterbed Mornings
Friday, what a splendid change of pace to an otherwise vibrant day. With my curtains opened each night before drifting off, when waking up I looked outside and noticed the gray clouds and slightly foggy window. Thinking nothing of it, I made my way to the shower in my usual naked form and bearing a touch of cold for those few seconds skimping into the bathroom, the warm water on my back was prize enough to make me moan “Ahhhh”.
I remember early in winter, maybe two weeks in when it was absolutely freezing for two weeks, my waterbed wouldn’t even keep me warm as the winter’s breeze would lower the degrees of the water. Jumping out of bed was a horror to my unclad body as I had to tip-toe over the cold floor and cringe up to protect myself from the misty cold just to make it to the shower room.
Nowadays there is only a touch of cold air in the morning and as soon as spring comes, it will almost be unknown. With summer on its way, I’ll probably be sleeping with the covers off or at most, one sheet over my body so that no one can walk in and surprise me. Anyway, when all was done, I stepped outside with a minute to spare and realizing for the first time that it was raining, I contemplated whether to take my mum’s umbrella or endure the drizzling rain.
The umbrella was mostly blue with purple flowers amongst the color and as it didn’t look too demeaning, I decided to bring along the umbrella against facing another cold. When at the bus stop I folded it up and stood under a tree with someone else, the same stripped tree that I stood at when one day it was too cold a breeze. Packing the umbrella in my bag, that was the last time I would require it as the sun came out midmorning.
The Girl With the Mole
The train trip to the City produced another reminder of how that blonde girl with the mole on her face is quite attractive. Sitting myself on the third triple seater facing the direction of the train, the girl with the mole on her cheek sat on the first seats looking towards me. Just having made the train, she noticed me straight away and almost immediately, I noticed a difference in her, an obvious one.
No longer is her hair color blonde as she’s died it a sparkling color between light brown and red. There’s no doubt that she’s hot as in the scattered times I did chance a look, I noticed just how great her cleavage was. With this new hair color she brought out a whole new perspective and at first I thought it was a bad move to stray from blonde.
However, given some time and watching her with her head down reading something, I ogled at how cute she looked, her little button nose, barely able to see her lips and the elegant etiquette that her hair now produced. If she wore reading glasses she would look sophisticated as well as adoring and given her exceptional body, she was to the point of stunning. What puzzled me is how she only looked at me a total of two times for the whole trip to the City.
This I figured was because she was tired of just looking at me and figured I took too long to recognize her verbally. When she jumped off at Central Station, she stood up and walking the whole length of the carriage and past me, she met with my eyes only from first carriage to third, and then she was gone. Watching her succumb to obscurity as she walked down the stairs, I only wished that we had the chance to sit next to each other when first I laid eyes on her and even so, I wish that my growing confidence was upon me…
Najla Stays Home
Grabbing the mail from downstairs and heading upstairs once arriving to work, I grew accustomed to Thalia walking in and out of our section looking for files. Laying down the mail onto my table and jotting down a couple of notes Thalia came back around and asked “Where’s Najla”. Being 9:15 a.m., it was quite uncharacteristic of Najla to be so late and knowing that she had college the night before, I figured she took a lazy day off and stayed home.
Sharing my knowledge with Thalia she just nodded her head saying “Aaaah” as she usually does in her prolonged vowel. Beginning the mail and note expecting Najla to turn up, when the phone rang I figured it would be Najla waiting at the door as I’d noticed she’d forgotten her access card. Nevertheless, it was an internal call from Jana who made it official by noting that Najla wouldn’t be coming in for the day.
In truth, I look forward to these days of taking full responsibility and control. I like a challenge and working through the whole day alone is a challenge. However, the downside is that I don’t really get anyone to chat with through the day but in all, Thalia done her best to suit me up with conversation and the little comedies through the day more than kept me satisfied.
Najla’s College Fees
Just a quick note before I digress upon another paragraph about Najla attending college. Today when we were leaving work and catching an elevator downstairs Najla told me that she wanted to buy shoes but she couldn’t afford $70 because she had to pay for her college fees. “You earn the same amount as me, how much do you pay for fees” I asked, figuring it would be a small amount. Shocked to hear that Najla paid almost $600 a month, it turned out to be a $6,000 course which spanned ten months.
“You should quit and do college through work” I remarked, “At least they’ll pay for your tuition”. Najla shook her head as she uttered “Nah, I’ve already began so I have to go through with it now”. Granting me new insight into Najla’s life and work expectancy, I now believe that she needs work to feed her college fees monthly. If Najla quits work then she also quits college and she’ll have nothing to show from either.
Therefore, Najla has to stick with this job for at least ten months and to her credit, she is starting to shape up in productivity at work. However, there are better things that you can spend $6,000 on and if I had my choice of courses I would obviously chose graphic design or a year in an Audio Engineering course, maybe even the piano…
Filing and Briefs
The whole morning was dedicated to completing the mail which took an hour and then for the remainder of the day until lunch, I decided to sift through files and place them back in filing shelves. There were at least two trolley’s full of files to be put away and because it was Friday and I really couldn’t be bothered with doing anything else, I decide to sit back in my chair and churn these puppies out.
Through the morning before lunch, Thalia ended up coming back over to which she was bored, had nothing to do and asked if I would like a brief put together. Finding this very useful, I handed her one of the briefs I needed done for the day and off she went, done her little deed and brought it back to me later in the day.
Through the whole day, I literally done nothing but filing and getting down Margot’s filing as well as David’s. that was my fervent aim and as far as briefs were concerned, apart from the one Thalia completed, there was no other. In addition to my morning’s news, when walking to the printer, I noticed Rhett standing over Delphi’s little wall, chatting away with a smile on his face.
Assuming that Rhett and Linh are now trying to lay the smooth moves after on Delphi, I just sat there with a smirk, knowing this would make great controversial conversation come lunch time.
