Dressed Up For Pool
Keith had just arrived home from a trip to Liverpool and then to the Golf Club where he played the poker machines with his mum. The time was near 1:00 p.m. and Keith along with Shawn just wanted to kill a couple of hours in the day. “Do you want to head up to the Catholic Club to shoot some pool” Keith suggested and as I wasn’t too particular I agreed to that end result. While waiting for Keith to arrive I chucked on my Industrial Hound Dog pants as well as the white hugging shirt from Hound Dog for some upper class difference.
Within twenty minutes Keith picked me up and although him and Shawn were more casually dressed there was no contrast in opinion. With the thought of collecting a concession card for myself we headed up to Centrelink so I could inquire about it. On the way we bumped into Simon who was on Queen Street. Stopping next to him we asked him where to get concession cards since he has done it before and with his advice we told him to meet us at the Catholic Club.
Centrelink Concession Card Trouble
Heading to Centrelink as this was where I was supposed to inquire about a referral for a concession card we parked out near the front entrance. They both now knew that I had a job lined up on Monday as Shawn showed me a cut out article from the Advertiser with a position for Telstra. Shawn told me he was going to go for the position which paid a great deal of money for a Telemarketing type position.
It was a rather large advertisement and I thought that Keith showed his true colors in caring only for himself when he uttered “Yeah, I might go for that job as well, but you can ring first”. Stepping out of the car and towards Centrelink I waited in line to receive my referral as Keith and Shawn used the free phone to make an inquiry to the position.
Speaking to a lady I know quite a bit down there she asked how my brother was doing and where he was because she no longer sees him around. To me it was sounding like she knew his drugged up side too well and obviously, if he went to Centrelink all the time with his drugged up friends, it would show. “You’re not like him at all are you” she asked and agreeing, I knew I was leagues away from his bad habits and grubby character.
With my referral all finished we jumped back in the car and headed to the pink building turned yellow just off the top of Queen Street where you wait for Taxis. However, they only served concession cards before noon and Thursday they didn’t serve them at all so I’m forced to head there tomorrow. If this doesn’t happen I’ll be buggered on Monday morning for a bus fare and basically, I’ll have no chance at all of getting one in the future.
Hat Off At The Club
Heading straight up to the Catholic Club we parked the car in the top area of the parking lot and with a grudge in having to take my hat off we walked to the entrance. I think the rule to take my hat off was stupid and the reason I was so resentful of it was because I had teased and ruined my hair at home before leaving the house. I tried rubbing the waxing gel through my hair, the obsolete one I never use.
Well, it didn’t do any wonders for my hair and it was so shit that only a hat would do me justice. However, I took my hat off once inside but resented having my hat off because I knew I would have looked atrocious. Constantly I had to keep flicking my hair back so it would look half decent and despite the urges to clap on my hat I relented. Shawn, Keith and Simon all told me when we were leaving that it looked funny. In Shawn’s depiction, it was all clumped up with gel at the top and then untouched and straight at the back.
Signing The Books Wrong
Rushing my signing in of the books when arriving at the Catholic Club, I didn’t think they would cause a fuss over my initializing the address and my name. However, as we started to play our free games of snooker between the three of us I was approached by the guy from the front. Leaning across the pool table right next to me he stood silent for a second as he looked at me.
As I uttered the first words of “Is there anything wrong” he questioned me about my full name and then told me I had to fill out the books properly. Therefore, I headed out to the front with him again, scruffy looking in the hair and all. “I’m sorry mate” I kept atoning, making up bullshit like “It’s my first time here”. When all the dramas were over I headed back to play a crappy hand at pool.
Losing At Snooker
The three of us played for ourselves in the first game and if it wasn’t for them hitting the white ball in and scoring me automatic points, I wouldn’t have had a score at all. However, despite my sinking only one red ball and completely missing all the balls with misguided pokes with my shortened stick, my score was high, yet, still third. Keith or Shawn weren’t faring too much better than me and if I could hit them straight and with more than one angle and one strength then I would have stood a better chance. This bids me to ask myself, “How did I ever win against Ralf”.
Simon turned up near the end of our first game and I invited him to join in as we finished off but as he picked up a cue Keith told him to wait. Funny, when our one game was over it was time to head out of there, Simon came for nothing. When heading back to Keith’s car we found that Simon had parked his parents car (Which he now drives because his car broke down again) right next to Keith, good eyes. “Do you both want to head to Binh’s shop or go home now”
Meat Pies With Binh And Tyler
Keith asked but having nothing else to do I didn’t think heading up to see Binh would be too much of a drama. Tyler was at Binh’s shop when the three of us pulled up, sitting inside, chatting away. While there I bought a meat-pie to eat as we all chatted and Tyler kept saying he had a firm butt and feeling everyone else’s. The topical conversations that I place in these pages are the plans for this weekend and forthcoming weeks. Firstly, Friday night is supposed to be a Catholic Club night where we will all sit around and play pool.
Within a couple of weeks Tyler is setting up a Paint Pellet war thing in which I might head off to join as I will be getting paid. Club Troppo was also explained to me and how another night was being planned for up at Gosford in a month’s time. This time around I made sure to include myself in the plans as I had them tell me how great it was and how 50% of the women were lookers and the rest of them were like Airds Girls.
Having worn my Hound Dog clothes I was receiving off-line compliments like Binh walking up to me and feeling my muscles while saying “You’re big”. Then there was Tyler in which you could tell he was digging what I was wearing by the sparkle in his eyes. Tyler is known to be gregarious on most occasions but I feel he was comparing ass and trying to flaunt his extroverted talents partly because he dug what I was wearing.
In a way, I felt his trying to associate with me was a way to include me into his affiliation and everyone has their way of bonding, that was his. Tyler I do see as a mutual regard worth fabricating. Being around my age, my height and having the same attitude as what I used to have when I was his age, we would make good friends. Maybe this is where the link will bond between my lost friendship and pressed acquaintances.
Keeping ourselves with Binh for the better portion of an hour we said our good-bye’s and headed home. I was the last to be dropped off by Keith on Wednesday night. For the rest of my night I worked on my diary, watched some television and then received that call from Keith. Sounding elated, Keith told me how he had scored a carpentry job in the City and how we could be catching the same train together in the mornings. From that conversation I continued with my diary and having no further calls through the night I got myself to sleep around 1:00 a.m.
Fashion Stages And Cockroaches
Before I even begin now about today’s events, let me just note two points, one is stale bread. Firstly, I feel that there has been different fashion stages in my life. When in school, I had no sense of fashion where mum bought me only school clothes and one or two things for outside of school. When I had finished school I still had no sense of fashion and bought myself basic attire to wear.
The button up sweat pants became the trend for 1996 and into 1997 which started the trend of the Hommie. Then there was a stage of bonds shirts, jeans and a trial of different colors. Nearing the end of my relationship with Lyssa I began a new fashion trend which now includes designer labels and a know-how of vogue and trend. These days I have tried to pick fashionable clothes and the style that is in including my cargo pants.
Secondly, I would just like to note that I haven’t seen a cockroach in my bathroom for god knows how long. Ever since that day around two months ago where I chased a cockroach under the backyard door until it fled outdoors I haven’t laid eyes on such disgusting creatures. Before, I used to have to watch my step into the bathroom but now I have let my guard down considerably, waltzing straight into the bathroom. I guess I must have flushed them all out the toilet and scared the rest of them enough that they all fled. Let’s just hope that Murphy’s Law doesn’t take a hold of me now…

Diary Of A Mad Chaos is a daily diary written from March 1996 until today, of which individual books and book series have been created, namely “The Lost Years” an exploration of young, entwined love, the “Wubao In China (猎艳奇缘)” book series which provides an extensive comparative analysis of the cultural differences between Eastern and Western societies, and the book titled “Foreigner (华人)” an exploration of race relations in Australia.
