Leaving the Old Year Behind

Now to speak of my last night of last year, last night. All I can say is that I conquered with dignity the dying moments of that downcast life and with dignified did I leave 1998. With only myself to witness the ending of a crestfallen year I also was witness to the new beginning, this now being my two years that will beg not to be forgotten. Things always work in pairs, relationships is just one example. the lost years was for two years, the dawning was the two years preceding and I hope that these next two years will be ‘The Reminiscence’ where all will work towards an ultimate goal.

That goal which for ‘The Dawning’ years was not known and for the lost years was put aside will now be achieved. If only my life was the utterance of a song and my vocals to be the emotional voices of such. But even then, my voice will insult the tune of my reflection. It will not justify my unwritten emotions, therefore I must let sing the voices of angels.

Everyone Dogged Me

Now after this prelude to my year’s start let me begin the chronology of the bleeding hours ending the lost years and the dawning of ‘The Reminiscence’. As it is widely known now I couldn’t find anyone to go out with me last night. To put it simply everyone dogged me and I was stuck without companionship. As time passed I gave Tatton a call at 6:00 p.m. but that long wait to anticipate an answer was subject to a selfish response.

Tatton didn’t want to come out because he wanted to stay home, “It might rain a little later tonight” was his defense. Keith also dogged me by not informing me that he was heading for a party all along. Lyssa was heading to Wollongong with all her friends and from what I gathered Jett was going to be at a party with his work friend.

I also gave Tyler a call hoping he would come out with me but it seems he found himself some plans. Everyone I could possibly think of on my list was contacted but to no avail, I was alone as befitting as that is in the ending of the lost years that I care not to remember.

Dressed Up and Heading Out

When the time arrived to 7:00 p.m. I started getting myself ready and already having had a shower and having placed my new nightclub clothes on I splashed on some perfume. Finally putting on my shoes and carrying only my drivers license and fifteen dollars that my parents gave to me in notes I headed out the door.

Angry I was for being alone but I knew it would be better to be alone amongst a million people than to be alone at home watching a million people through a television screen. My trip to Campbelltown was in daylight but it didn’t seem to bother me that much that I was dressed so avidly for nightclubs.

Waiting on the Platform

Making my way up the stairs of Campbelltown station I noticed that the time was 8:00 p.m. ad another train wasn’t due for fifteen minutes. That meant that I would miss out on most of the fireworks that started at 9:00 a.m. something I’ve done once before. Making my way past a crowded front half of the platform I decided to sit in the seats that are covered and in the building near the back.

While there I noticed a guy and a girl sitting together across from me and about four people sitting on the seats in my frontal view. The girl sitting with the guy looked pretty hot to my liking and there was a girl in the group of people that I did find attractive also. Trying not to attract too much attention to my lonely self I just sat there with my hands folded over and staring into the distance glancing every now and then at the girl in front of me.

The four people in front of me were joined by more and more people as we waited for our train, one of the guys whom I know slightly. He owns a green Corolla which goes fast and he was there on Queen Street the day Ali was pulled over for chasing the guy in the green car.

Walking past my view on the outside part of the platform I noticed a girl with a decorated dress on and being blonde and young her body was so skinny. Her beauty astounded me and that she also had a nice set on her. She was with a guy and another couple so I gathered she was hitched but that couldn’t stop me from adoring her natural beauty.

A Giggling Girl on the Train

When the train actually arrived I jumped on where all the girls jumped in and sat up the top with them all. Unluckily they took up the first couple of seats and I had to sit in front of them and not in their view. The trip to the City was fairly lonely and I was hoping a girl would sit next to me that looked decent. That hope did come true as a group of Egyptians or Muslims came in and one of the attractive girls sat next to me.

It wasn’t until she started talking in her own language and giggling to her parents sitting behind her that my thoughts were thankfully led astray. Her laugh was annoying to say the least and to wonder what she was speaking to her parents about that gave out a nervous laugh was beginning to annoy me. At one stage I heard her say the words ‘Ugly’ and ‘No one’ so I gathered that with the looks she was sneaking upon me that her parents thoughts this was her chance.

Racing for the Quay

Luckily I arrived in the City without having to chat with her and once arriving at Central I jumped out of my seat. As people crowded in blocking me on the stairs I was informed by a guy that Circular Quay wasn’t taking any trains. With this information I knew I was going to be all the more late and upon arriving at Wynyard I jumped out.

Now at Wynyard in the City I hoped that the ticket gates were open as they were a year or two ago but that wasn’t to be the case. So around I walked looking for an opportunity and as a flock of people walked through the gates where the ticket collectors were I tried my luck and got through with the mass of people not having to show a ticket. Blessed by this luck I made my way out onto the street where I started walking towards Circular Quay. With the streets packed with people all heading in the direction of the trumpeting fireworks and some running I too followed.

Making my way to Circular Quay I sat as near as I could to the entrance of the train station but with the train tracks above me I couldn’t see much of the fireworks. Bothered I kept walking around for a better view but after a while I got tired of walking around knowing I wouldn’t get a better spot. The fireworks at times were so loud that they moved the ground beneath my feet and caused a vibration within me. The fireworks lasted until 9:30 p.m. for half an hour they blared within the sky.
