Macedonian Strangers in the City Crowd (Part 3) – Mad Chaos: January 1, 1999

Burgers and Crowded Streets

When the fireworks were over everyone was making their way back up towards Town Hall and all I could do was follow the crowd as it would take me ages to run the wrong way in a crowd. For the next two hours and a half until new years eve I had nothing to do so I made my way up George Street with the large crowd of people. Finally I knew what I wanted to do and with my stomach hungry as I only had breakfast I headed for Macdonald’s near Planet Hollywood.

Walking into the store brimming with visitors ordering food I made my way firstly to the toilets. Hoping there wouldn’t be much of a line I was surprised by the twenty or more people waiting in line. Walking inside briefly I noticed there were only two toilets so I gave up that quest. Deciding also that the line was too long to buy food I made my way back outside.

Back down the streets I headed knowing not what to do. Dropping into two Macdonald’s stores on the way down I decided within the second one that the line was small enough for me to buy some food. With five dollars I bought myself a Fillet O Fish and a Thick Shake before making my way back out to the street. Being alone and eating on the road didn’t bother me or embarrass me the slightest.

I figured that because I was in such a big crowd it appeared that I was with someone in close proximity. Making my way to the end of George Street where the Orient and Jackson’s on George were I made my trek up a very crowded street. My destination was to head into the Orient and that’s exactly what I headed for.

Stuck in the Orient Queue

The crowd on this street was so thick that it took me twenty minutes to walk two hundred meters up the road. Making my way up to the steps of the orient I noticed how large a crowd it was to enter. Not worrying about that I made my way to the colossal line that was at the front. The bouncers up the top were trying to hold back everyone from entering at once. As they let a couple of people in every now and again the line would get pushed forward as people around me and myself would get scrunched together.

There was a girl behind me with her lady friends all around my age that took a liking to me. Looking back at one girl I gave her an inviting smile and with that she found her place right behind me. In actuality she found herself pressing right up against me and I think her boobs pressed up against my back and her hips clutching mine were signs that she meant to be that close.

I didn’t mind it at all as I placed a hand lightly around her hip blindly as I was pushed around in the queue. Looking back once more I noticed her looking fairly attractive, same with her friend that now was smiling upon me.

Stairs Full of Strangers

Having now made it to the entrance with the girl still behind me I was ushered in and with that I lost sight of the girls. Making my way up the stairs and not worrying about the crowd buying drinks I wanted to see what it was like in the dancing part of the club.

Making my way up the second flight of stairs I noticed the next flight of stairs which led to the dance floor was chock full of people and no one was getting up or down. In the line I stood for ten minutes but it got to me after a while and I decided to visit the toilet and then head back downstairs. While downstairs I touched eyes with a couple of people but eventually made my way outside again.

Following the Music

The time was now nearing 11:15 p.m. and with it almost upon midnight and the new year I started making my way to a good destination. So much hot and gorgeous girls were in the City not alike of our Campbelltown girls. In Campbelltown you get the cold shoulder if you say something nice to someone walking by but in the City everyone was being friendly.

Making my way further up the street I was just following the music that I thought for a couple of minutes was live. It was the song from ‘Greenday’ with the lyrics “It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right, I hope you have the time of your life.”

Trying to cut my way through the crowd this old guy being around 30 but looking a tad younger than his age gave me a wink and then through the thick of the crowd said “Follow me.” Gathering he was being friendly for the festive season I kept my way behind him until a group of people got in between us.

Stopping in his tracks to wait for me with a smile on his face he outstretched his hand grabbing me around the wrist. In his friendly gesture he pulled me through the crowd until we reached a spot in the distance where the crowd was gradually smaller. While here we just had a little conversation about the night and after our couple of minutes having a conversation I bid him a happy new year and was then on my way to nowhere.

Three Girls Who Spoke My Language

On my trek to nowhere I walked past this tall blonde girl with a skinny body and skinny face that sort of reminded me of Rena. Glancing at her for a split second as I walked past her (But making a note to walk past her) she was quick to utter words to stop me and then once stopped she said “You have very beautiful eyes.” Her accent was not Australian and that was the next question I asked her. Having a guessing game about it I tried Denmark or Sweden but they weren’t from there.

There were three girls in the group. One of them slightly resembled Rena in the smooth but nightclub ready appearance, tall and skinny. The other looked more maturated with a red top and an attentive glare. The third was smallest and just a tad smaller than me she was more timid and kept more to herself. The one with the most confidence was the girl that stopped me and as I tried guessing their nationality they astounded me by informing me they were all from Macedonia. Well, two of them were from Serbia and the one with the red top who looked the smartest was from Macedonia.

Informing the three girls that I was also Macedonian and spun out that we all had something in common we kept chatting about our origin as the girls and I would occasionally look each other over. Introducing ourselves one of them was called Isolde (That’s the one in the red top), the other was Rosalind (Like Rosa) and I can’t remember the third but all three were Yugoslavian type names. They all lived in Manly which was the only downer to the conversation because I wouldn’t have minded jotting down their numbers.

The three of us chatted to each other fluently in Macedonian as one of them told me how they had gone for a holiday to Yugoslavia and how her parents were also born in Bitola. Rosalind, the one that stopped me to have a chat was being friendly with me and I couldn’t resist touching her lightly upon her leather pants every now and again as we got close. The three girls seemed interested in me and I was interested in knowing the three of them also. “I can’t believe we’ve bumped into another Macedonian” one of them said. “Neither of you girls really look Macedonian” I said, “But, neither do I.”

Kisses on the Cheek

For twenty minutes we talked getting acquainted with each other as Rosalind was pulled away herself by a couple of guys who also tried to chat her up. Looking at these girls I once again thought to myself that my next girlfriend if she isn’t a hot Australian blonde girl will have to be a hot blonde Yugoslavian. Yes, I’m still going through my blonde and sexy stage but who hasn’t.

The time arrived to 11:30 p.m. and as I told them the fireworks were about to go off and speaking about that for a couple of minutes Rosalind looked like she wanted to head off to watch them. Giving each of them a kiss on the cheek and speaking some more Yugoslavian to them I said my goodbye to each of them separately.

When it came to Rosalind I gave her a kiss on the cheek and then holding her hand I gave her a kiss on the fingers. Being sarcastic she also kissed her own hand and after that we just smiled and kissed each other’s cheeks. For the rest of the night kissing girls on the cheek was the go and I wasn’t complaining about this fashionable trend.

Well, I’ve written ten pages and I’m only up to half of my nights end already so I’m going to have to finish my last day of last year and first day of this year some other time.
