The story behind Loomwave

Loomwave is the name I put on the music that grows out of my diary. I have written that diary every day since March 1996, and after all these years there is a lot of life sitting on those pages: good days, bad days, people who came and went, and a few nights I would rather forget. At some point I realized the diary was not only a record. It was a songbook waiting to happen.

So I started turning entries into songs. I take the words and the feeling from a day, use AI tools like Suno to build the sound around them, then keep reworking it until it sounds like the day it came from. Some songs are about a single moment. Others stretch across years. A few started as one line I could not shake.

Almost every song here has a story behind it, and most of those stories are somewhere in the diary. If a title catches your ear, search the site for the same words and you might find the day it was born. That is the part I like best, the music and the diary pointing at each other.

The player above holds the newest 100 songs. The complete playlist on Spotify has all 190, about fifteen hours in total, enough for a long drive, a late shift or a night of staying up too late, which is how plenty of these songs got written anyway. Hit shuffle for a surprise, or start from the top and hear how the sound has changed.

If something grabs you, follow Loomwave on Spotify so new songs land in your feed. I keep adding to the playlist as they come out. Thanks for listening, and welcome to the chaos.

Prefer another service? Apple Music, YouTube, BandLab and Suno carry the music too. The story of how the songs are made is in the Music section.
