Syllables Missing From My Sonnets (Part 2) – Mad Chaos: December 26, 1998

Poems Under The Sun

Heading back inside, Lyssa wanted to watch the rest of the movie but I wanted to stay refreshed by the sun. Lyssa called out for me a minute later and then I clicked that my poems were in the box ready for Lyssa. Knowing that Lyssa probably felt shy about opening the box and reading them herself I told her I was headed back outside with the poems so she could come out the back if she wanted to read them with me.

Lyssa had no hassles with that so back outside we walked sitting back down with the sultry sun. Reading ‘Subconscious Kisses’ for herself Lyssa seemed to understand that and asked me “Do you really kiss me and hug me when I’m sleeping, do you really do all that” and I told her ‘Yes’ because that one poem’s imagination came from things I’ve done to Lyssa while sleeping and how I felt. The other two poems I told Lyssa she probably wouldn’t understand as much because the language was a bit more thick and I think because I said that she didn’t bother that much with trying to think.

Instead she asked me to explain them and that I did line by line as Lyssa attentively listened to my feelings unfolding from my words so elaborately. When explaining the poem about the elements and how the wind steals a kiss upon Lyssa’s skin the breeze started to pick up and as Lyssa mentioned the breeze picking up it picked up all the more.

Counting Syllables Later

Later in the night I found what I feared as I strolled through each line of supposed ten syllable verse. The only poem that didn’t have a syllabic problem was ‘Such is Thy Love, That Gentle Mind Hand Writes’. The other two poems had either a syllable too long in one line or too short. ‘Subconscious Kisses’ has one syllable too short in the tenth line and ‘While thou sleep the elements sleep but not’ has one syllable too much in the second line.

Neither of them would sound much the same or different to that matter if changed but why change them. Besides, in one or two of Shakespeare’s poems I found a syllable missing or gained in one of the lines so I’m not really doing much wrong, nothing at all. Before I move on and after having read once again the three poems I must say with the greatest of thought towards my poems that ‘Such is Thy Love, That Gentle Mine Hand Writes’ would be my favorite.

Phone Calls And Suitors

Once the poems were read we headed back inside the house only for the phone to ring. As Lyssa answered it I was watching television but walking into the kitchen as Lyssa hung up the phone I was about to ask who it was but the phone rang straight away again. Beforehand I had asked if anyone was going to head to Lyssa’s house for the night and she basically told me no one had called her and no one was coming.

When Lyssa got off the second phone call I found out she was talking to Kieran and he was indeed coming over. That upset me a bit because I knew Kieran liked Lyssa and she knew it too. The second caller was Devon who wanted to know if Lyssa would go with him to the Catholic Club for Christmas, just the two of them, yeah right.

Not only was Kieran coming over but Milton the one I despise was also coming over after that to give Lyssa the ‘Cool Water’ cologne he told her he had bought for her as a Christmas present. Why can’t I be a girl so that everyone can be giving me all these presents, I need some lady friends to exploit and capitalize on.

Arm In Arm Waiting

Sitting together on the couch Kieran wasn’t expected to come over for half an hour so there we sat arm in arm and legs entwined. Lyssa had the three quarter pants on that Devon bought her and the new top that she bought when we went shopping in the City. The top I felt was controversial when Kieran and Milton came over because it showed too much cleavage but Lyssa does have decent sized breasts. However she used to decently fill a 12B cup, now she only half fills the cup size because I can put my hand in there with ease but her bra strap is tight as.

Let me just point out in this paragraph that Lyssa really appreciated the poems I wrote to her and with the gratitude she gave me at the end I gathered she felt they were class poetry. Lyssa as usual didn’t say too much in appreciation but her face and my probing of what her thoughts might have been made me realize that she appreciated the Sonnets very much.

Kieran Stays Too Long

Fifteen minutes after Kieran called we heard a car out the front just as Lyssa and I got comfortable lying with each other on the lounge. As she jumped up to answer the door I just kept watching television and hoping that Kieran would just go do whatever he’s supposed to do he ended up staying for a while. Coming into the lounge room with a friend of his who had ginger megs hair they both sat on the separate seats as Lyssa came and sat next to me.

Kieran started talking about his time at Bradbury pub and how he kept walking around and wishing all the girls a Merry Christmas trying to chat them up. One of his ex girlfriends was there and when he would look at another girl she would basically yell at him to stop. Conversation didn’t include me that much unless I wanted to include myself but I preferred watching television than holding a conversation with someone who was holding a secret.

Kieran and his friend stayed over for at least twenty minutes and as Kieran started talking about women again Lyssa said “How about I leave you three to talk about girls” and left for the backyard to have a smoke. Just before this while Lyssa was talking to Kieran I was worried how low cut her top was because in the back of Kieran’s mind he would have only been seeing the great big gap between Lyssa’s boobs. It was worse when Lyssa bent over to turn on the radio with her ass in view of everyone.

Luckily I didn’t catch either of them perving intently but I know that Kieran probably was very tempted. Five minutes after Lyssa left the room Kieran wanted to head home and looking for Lyssa to say goodbye he done a very sneaky thing. Basically he followed Lyssa around the house because basically that’s where his fascination was. Kieran said he was going home but he ended up sitting out the back with Lyssa talking for another twenty minutes.

I was tempted to jump up and head out the back to see what they were talking about but I knew as soon as I got out there that Kieran would say “Well, I have to get going now.” For that reason I kept myself in the lounge room praying that Lyssa would find the decency in coming back in to where I was but after twenty minutes they ended up going anyway. As Kieran was leaving he wished me a happy new year if he didn’t get to see me before then, whatever…

Devon Rings Again

As Lyssa and I got once again comfortable Devon once again rang Lyssa and this time he wanted to know if he could come over to Lyssa’s house for twenty minutes before he has to head off because he was bored. What a stupid and desperate thing to say especially knowing that I was at Lyssa’s house. No points in realizing that Devon wanted to try and spend some quality time with Lyssa.

What’s bugging me is all these friends of Lyssa’s are now trying to have her hand in a relationship. What pisses me off more is that they’re going about it the wrong way and besides, they’re never going to get her. Lyssa only talked to Devon for a couple of minutes telling him that she wasn’t that good of a host and basically not to come over. When she hung up on Devon Lyssa rang back the call back number and with a number she’s never heard of before she called it back.

Putting me on the phone I asked a lowly male voice if they had called Lyssa’s house earlier in the day and to my surprise it was Devon on the other line who was just speaking to Lyssa. After hanging up the phone once again Lyssa informed me that he’d called Lyssa’s house at least four times in the day, how lame.
