July 1, 2026. 11:40 a.m. until after 1:00 a.m..
The domain name mix-up
Around 11:40 a.m. I purchased the dot app domain for $36 US, so I’ll have the dot com for marketing and the dot app for the app itself. Later I found the confirmation email was for the wrong address.
On the final sales page, before the purchase button, there was a field I took for a nickname. It was actually the SLD field, a place where you directly change the domain name. I didn’t know what I was doing, and I had changed the actual name. The hosting company said it’s a third party item and they can’t refund it. So I just went and purchased the right one too.
Nothing left to do but publish
The app is now looking perfect. All the padding, margins, input fields and navigation items look consistent. I counted ten different pages and eight buttons visible on the phone. I had nothing else to develop on top of that. I had no other avenue to go other than to attempt to publish it to Google Play, so that’s what I set out to do.
The final thing I needed was AdMob. I had Claude create the integration for the Capacitor APK, took the steps to create an interstitial ad, and dropped the ad code in. I’ll also have to integrate the Google sign-in button.
Ads working
After Lance fell asleep I kept going, starting with version 2.8 of the build. The AdMob test panel was working on my phone, but it was hiding my navigation buttons, so I removed the box. The ads were only firing on a loaded template, not on the gym session.
By the end of the night the ads worked. If you record a gym session, an ad plays. The session is saved locally on the phone, and once the ad is finished, a congratulations pop-up appears and the session is saved to the cloud.
Nothing is gated so far, not even the voice memos, but eventually I’ll have to start gating things. I don’t want people using up all the data on my Firebase account if I’m not getting paid for it.
Backgrounds
The last thing I did was burn some usage on background images. I used Claude Design to create three sets. In the theme and appearance settings there are now four boxes under the accent color: solid, then A, B and C.
The one I managed to see has a little barbell and weights motif at the bottom of the clay and cream light background. It’s better if the motif is in a corner, because when you scroll you can always see it there, and it disappears behind menus and shows through the transparent parts of the page. It makes the app look much better.
So it’s ready for market. I’m quite happy with BeStreak. It sounds like 21 Jump Street.
