July 2, 2026. Morning until 10:10 p.m..
Version 237
I worked on two features this morning. First, when I throw a template into a program day in the weekly view, I wanted a one pixel outline around the group, so it’s clearly visible that it belongs to a template, and a way to delete that group.
Second, I wanted a custom muscle pop-up in the exercise database. I removed the five old custom slots from the program tab, and now a pop-up sets the muscle groups globally, so a new muscle group shows up everywhere. Those were delivered in version 237.
Testing on the phone
At 2:45 p.m. I loaded the latest APK. There is now an “Add Custom Muscle” button in the exercise database, with a name field, a choice of simple or detailed grouping, and a preview of all the buttons. There’s also a much smaller gray “Delete Custom Muscle” button.
On a light background I couldn’t see the x icon when deleting from a program, so I made it more visible. The heading was changed to “Individual Programs”. Pop-ups don’t appear at the bottom of the screen like they did before. It generally looks really nice now.
Signing and sign-in
At 3:20 p.m. I was going through the steps to create a signed app bundle to put onto Google Play. I added fingerprints into Firebase so I can get sign-ins via Google working in the Capacitor build. By 10:10 p.m. I had created the Google sign-in. I saved a copy of the data as a CSV file just in case it gets wiped.
The business plan
The steps to get onto Google Play are quite onerous. Before I advertise it, I want a premium version with monthly or yearly sign-up. If I get five customers paying monthly, that’s a start, and a hundred would be the aim. Let’s see what I can accomplish.
The app could do with more, like the exercise database showing little animations of each exercise, the way I’ve seen other apps do. It’s a lot of work. That’s for the future, if I’m making some money from this app.
