Weighing a salad
The nutrition database is now up to 1,550 meals and 775 ingredients. I also built out the custom meal builder. It’s been quite impressive to put ingredients together, get out the food scale, and see how many calories go into a salad.
I wasn’t able to add salad dressing, because the table didn’t know how to treat milliliters, so I asked it to add dressings. Later the builder could save and delete custom meals, and ingredients had portions. I usually add about 250 grams of lettuce to my salad, so I can set that as a custom portion and it keeps it.
Review, not save
There are still some minor things to change. When I’m adding a gym session, rather than “Save Session” the button should say “Review Session” and go to the review screen. If you see “Save”, you’re going to think, “Oh no, I’m gonna save it, and I have to do it all again.” Then there’s “Record Session” after that.
The pounds and kilos converter should also be available wherever you add weight, as a little button inside the input box.
An audio save bug
When I save an audio file, there’s a pop-up that says to long press the link to save the download. It doesn’t work that way. The download saves automatically, because the phone takes over. The same action might not fire the same way across different devices, so I have to figure out what that button should do.
First earnings
In AdMob I saw that my ad units in the app were already making money: seven cents for a few interstitial ads. An app can really make you money.
App Features Log: July 18, 2026
- Custom meal builder with saved portions
- Dressings and liquids measured in milliliters
- Planned: “Save Session” renamed “Review Session”
- Known issue: audio save pop-up gives the wrong instruction
