Checking what is live

I wanted to check whether the ads and payment processes were live or still in testing mode. I did a test purchase of BeStreak with Google Pay through RevenueCat, and because I’m a licensed tester, it was approved.

Now I need to update the subscription row in account settings so it looks more obvious that you are a premium member, with a button to stop being one. By 4 p.m. I wrote that prompt.

Activity adjusted BMR

Before I left on a delivery I started the second of the six updates: the activity adjusted BMR and BMI. I lifted the instructions from my diary and let it work while I was out.

When I tested it, it was a cool new feature. The BMR tracks your seven days of workouts and gives you a TDEE score, with a seven day graph that shows how your daily calorie requirements change. You click into the BMR box in the My Weight tab to see it.

Only one path

For some reason the changes to this app come out much cleaner. It solves the problem in one go. I think the reason it codes so easily is because there’s only really one path for every action. The only complex part is recording a gym session, but the path is always the same: you open the session, record it, it gets saved, and you can view it.

It was a very simple app to begin with. You track your personal bests at the gym. Then it became a way to log your weight, then I added a gym session recorder, and it just snowballed from there.

Premium, capped and locked

Late at night I went into Claude Design to create different states for premium active, capped and locked. Currently there’s just a little lock icon on anything that’s locked.

It came back with some cool ideas. A capped item like progress photos shows “4 of 20 photos used” with a bar and a little pill with a small ring that fills up. Premium items that are grayed out get a lock, a pill that says “Pro”, and “Upgrade” on the right.

I went through every feature and had Claude write a document listing each one with its tier, its free cap, the indicator used and where it sits, shown on the dark, ocean, amber and light themes. Then I updated the features. I’m up to version 298. It’s such a great app now.
