Jeans For Jeans Day

There’s always some sort of charity donation going on at work and for Friday, Jana walked over reminding us it was Jeans for Jeans day. Figuring that this would have been the reason why I was more intrigued to look at a good looking girl walking to work who was wearing jeans, Jana interrupted my benevolent bliss by asking “Do you know what today is”. Being a smart-aleck, I replied “Yeah, it’s my birthday” confidently and as she looked at me phased she asked “Really is today your birthday”.

Shaking my head as if to show I was being a smart ass, she clicked her tongue and then noted that we would most probably have to make a donation. However, this drain on my newly furbished pocket never seemed to happen as Jana was preoccupied with work for the most of the day, much to my admission. Just a quick note, for the last week or maybe even more, the flickering light above our heads is no more. Most probably happening over the weekend, the light has finally blown out and still, the problem hasn’t been rendered.

Briefs And Thalia’s Help

Being the last scheduled day to get out the briefs for the month, it was a struggle to do so. Therefore, other parts of our workload were slackened but despite my having one brief to complete and some updates, I had time for at least one hour of filing. What also made our job easier was when Thalia came over to chat, noting that she was scratching for something to do. “Do you want me to do one of your briefs” she asked to which I had one brief which was vacated and therefore had no real urgency.

Nevertheless, although Najla only had one brief to complete for the whole day, she decided to use the angle of her file being huge to which Thalia took up the challenge. Gritting my teeth as I knew I would now struggle, Najla’s coasting along for the whole day didn’t help. Luckily, Thalia ended up putting together one of my briefs as well to which it helped me out a great deal and allowed me some more time to David’s filing which was piling up extensively.

Najla Does Nothing Again

Speaking on filing now, despite David’s massing up generously, Najla seems to portray oblivion or nonchalant care. Even for Thursday Najla only had one file to put together and believe me, for the rest of the day she didn’t do shit. Friday was no different as Najla done nothing but dawdle, diverting the greater workload always to me. In the morning mail, she decided to take the easier task of stamping the mail and sorting it out because there was a heap of photocopying to complete. Najla just basically doesn’t have the will to help others and is naïve in her assumptions.

Back when Najla started I was enthusiastic in helping Najla out with anything when she looked like she was disliking it the slightest. However, with no returned courtesy, I’ve withdrawn from my good-will and decided to be as naïve as her. Nowadays, I try to split everything down the middle, being as greedy as her and uncaring to the other party. Najla might not be touching David’s filing at all causing me to put those couple of extra hours in but I get mine back by having her do all the gutting and closing of all the files as well as doing most errands.

To my knowledge, this was the basic structure of Najla’s day. Seeming enthusiastic in the morning to get straight to mail, we had that completed by 9:45 a.m. For the next two hours she basically sat around doing jack shit and didn’t even touch filing until the end of the day to which she just put away files without looking for their filing.

After three days in the works, Najla finally got to doing a brief cover letter to which she probably felt bad because I had completed one she was supposed to do a day before because she was taking too long. This having been done whilst I was out at lunch, we completed the outgoing mail together and dawdling for some more time, she finally put some files away in the dying minutes of the day.

Thalia Loses Patience

This lack of effort in filing had Thalia pissed off during the day to the point that she now despises her. When Najla headed away from our desk area and Thalia was filing some documents, she looked at me as if to say “God, I can’t believe she’s never doing filing”. Pissed off more with the fact that she was looking for files to which they could have been in the piled up files of Joselyn in two carts, she decided to lay some hints in conversation with Najla.

Najla was so brazen through her dawdling day that in the beginning hours after the mail, she thought to put her feet up on the desk and sit back, relaxing, as if she’d just hauled a truck around on a rope. Stuck hard into filing, this really pissed me off as Najla could have taken after my initiative but she just decided to bitch about how it was the slowest morning she’s ever endured. I figure now that her wanting to have lunch with her boyfriend for their three year anniversary would have played a part because she couldn’t see him on the weekend.

In addition to her loathed traits, she kicked around that little step thing we stand on when doing the filing. Kicking it around as if she was frustrated, I knew she was only frustrated with looking through her loathed filing. Back on Friday I didn’t think it would be long until Najla decided to quit. By the way she was acting when it came to filing, I figure that David’s or Joselyn’s filing will just get to the point where she doesn’t want to look at it anymore and being unable to get around the problem, she’ll quit.

Najla tends to ride on the fact that we’re possibly getting someone new in but I find that to be hard to believe as they can’t sit anywhere and it’s been such a long time now since that conversation. Through the day not only did Najla keep mentioning her hopes for the day to end but as if she was on her rags, she kept cussing at stupid things. All in all, Najla aggravated me, Thalia and anyone else who heard her whinging.

Najla And Linh

With lunch nearing, my plans to have alone at 1:00 p.m. changed when Najla received a call from her boyfriend at 11:00 a.m. Passing the phone to her and hearing rain in the background, I figured from her annoyingly loud voice and words that her boyfriend hadn’t reached work yet. Being stuck in traffic or something, Najla immediately asked me if I wanted to have lunch at midday and seeing no problem with this, it just gave me that extra day of company at lunch.

Twenty minutes later I gave Linh a call from the phone to which I asked if lunch was still on. Pouring down outside, I told him to look out the window and oblivious to the fact that it was raining, I asked “What are we going to do now”. “Don’t worry, we’ll figure something out” he replied as we chatted a touch more and hung up. Najla then asked me a question about Linh, something silly like “Does he prefer to be called Linh or Andy”.

Ever since the two of them talked at the photocopier a few weeks back, I have felt the chemistry between the both of them. At one stage Linh noted to me that he thought she was alright and with Najla always bringing him up into conversation and just asking stupid things, I know that she is somewhat attracted to him. However, what I can’t grasp is how the both of them are going out with someone yet, they eagerly yearn for each other secretly. Whenever I bring up Linh, Najla always has something to ask and Linh just asks questions about Najla out of the blue. If that isn’t lust, what is…
