Steel Caps On The Podium

The downer of our night which had us straying from the dancefloor was an obnoxious prick tapping his steel capped boots up on one of the podiums right in front of our rail as if he wanted someone to start a fight with him. Looking like one of those toughened weasel types, he looked Irish or English, whichever one is considered the crazier one. Almost from out of nowhere, he jumped up onto this podium with two other Lebanese type guys up there.

They done the smart move of simply stepping down and continuing their dance on the floor which I don’t think I personally would have done because I’m always out to make a stand and am usually oblivious to these challenges. His footsteps became so annoying, stomping harder and harder upon each beat and what really irritated me was that he was always a touch off beat, either purposefully or because he was just as dumb as he danced.

What could have been another turning point of my night (And in a way already had been) was when one of his friends from another corner of the railing threw an empty water bottle at him. In his blind fury, he turned directly to me, eyeing me with conviction as he and most of the floor stopped dancing with their full enthusiasm. Everyone could feel a brawl erupting and I’m sure Nero and Tyler would have been thinking to themselves “Fuck here we go”.

From the onset, it looked like our being different could have opened up into something more sinister. As he stood there staring wildly at me, I didn’t at all look intimidated but rather with my stern glance looked back at him. With dead eyes upon dead eyes, I took a quick glance at the culprit friend who threw the bottle in jest and seeing the silent plea he quickly yelled out his 26 year old friend’s name.

Nobody Steps Up

Turning his head quickly, he quickly walked up and bear hugged him in a hommie kind of way and that pretty much was the end of controversy, so close to blame unjust.

For the rest of the night we had to endure his irritating feet tapping but no one was game enough to step up to him. He looked like the type who either had a gun concealed in his pants or to which he would step back to his car and pull out a gang or weapons on your ass. Looking like a drug dealer or big time hit guy, I didn’t want to take up any more of his space and for that reason, didn’t chose to jump down onto the dancefloor. Even when I was starting to get into a groove, his tapping off-center had me slowing down my groove, almost losing myself in irritation.

Black Fly Glasses

After half an hour to an hour of standing around in that one spot, the call was on to move but we couldn’t do it without the assistance of my Black Fly glasses in the car. Therefore, as Nero handed me the keys I made my way up the stairs, into the rain and jogged to the car to retrieve the sun glasses as well as his own.

Sitting in there for a couple of seconds, I headed back to the bouncers at the front and almost wasn’t let back in by the pricks. Seconds later I asked them if I could head inside upon walking out to which they agreed. However, one whole minute later, they failed to recognize me, asking to see my stamp and then looking down at my space boots and saying “We can’t let you in with those”.

Looking astonished at their stupidity I shouted “Are you serious” and taking no heed to me they looked at my stamp and then ushered me in saying “We shouldn’t be letting you in”, yeah big shit. Allowing Nero to wear the glasses first, we began our slow rocking moves, the three of us standing up and shedding some leg kicking spasms. In due time, I had a go of the glasses to which they added a whole new perspective to the night and fogged up minutes later.

Moving around the hallway to the first length of path around the squared dance area, we stood there glancing at the hot blonde doing her grooves, me with a huge smile of admiration on my face. However, after we shed some moves and realized that we were so differently looked upon to everyone else there, the call to head outside for a breather was on and I knew this was basically the end of our night at Rogues.

Rain On Oxford Street

The rain was still sprinkling effectively upon us as we made our way out of cover. Taking a trek down Oxford Street, Nero asked if we liked it to which we both had mixed opinions about our embrace of another Oxford nightclub. When mentioning that it was sort of like Byblos, Nero couldn’t believe that me, Binh and Tyler actually attended his birthday party to which the three of us were only pointed out to him.

Heading down the road and then crossing to arrive at Byblos, Nero told the story of how he used to be a bar attendant in Byblos. “I used to head there religiously every weekend” he told, “One day when they were heaps busy the manager just threw me a towel and pointed to the kitchen and I was like ‘Alright’”. Making his way to the bouncers, he asked if he would be allowed entry but for the second time in our night, we were turned away from another possible scorcher.

Nevertheless, we had our good night and jogging back to the car to get out of the wet weather, we started up and were on our way back home. Mind you, with Tyler jumping in the back and the car being on a slope, I had to lift the car’s door which was opened and then lowered into the grass sidewalk. This being the second err to Nero’s car, I didn’t want there to be a third and favorably, there wasn’t.

The Drive Home

Tyler passed out for the rest of the trip home from the word go and I tried my best to keep awake, making it fair on Nero who had to drive. Turning on the radio and listening to some tunes on the way home, both our eyes were becoming immensely tired but we held out. Chatting all the way home with the outgoing Italian Stallion, we made fresh plans to head out to a club called Patterson’s in two or three weeks time.

With Tyler marginally awake in the back seat, we also agreed to head out to Chevy’s this Friday just gone but obviously that little luck of plan didn’t happen because Tyler ended up selling his car for $800. Anyway, to end our Friday night, Nero stopped off at some guy’s house on the way home and as he foraged around the house knocking on doors and windows, I slightly drifted off in the passenger seat.

Well, lying my seat back all the way and turning to one side, you could say I was extremely tired but as Nero came back minutes later we started the car and were back on our trip home. Dropping Tyler off first, on the way back to my house we made some more plans in getting together for Saturday where we would have a workout together. Agreeing on those plans as Nero is a sick cunt, I jumped out of the car and around 5:00 a.m. made my venture back indoors.

Plans Falling Through Again

Right at this moment, I’ve started listening and grooving to the tunes on the Wild FM CD’s, awaiting Nero to head over to my house where tonight is uncertain. However, as he is certain not to head out for a big night, anything is possible and again, everyone is breaking up plans. Tyler told me earlier today that he’d made plans with Binh tonight in which they are supposed to go to the movies together, Imad is heading out to a friends house and Shawn is again out with Ralf up to some sort of insipid mischief.

The only person available tonight is Keith but I don’t want to spend any more time with him than I have to in these days of loathsome disability. Therefore, I await Nero who had to be over my house a fair while ago. Am I with my attitude leaving more to be desired and giving away too much backdoors and in the same breath, not sounding as enjoyable to hang out with. Whatever the case is, I’m going to get back to tuning in with my songs to which something will pull together tonight, something big enough to spend another whole week writing about.
