First Night at the Catholic Club (Part 2) – Mad Chaos: October 10, 1998

Leaving Pizza Hut and Ingleburn behind we noticed a car doing burnouts and thought it was a bit pathetic considering it was slightly raining. Behind that was a Celica 84 and I screamed from my backseat at him, he didn’t hear but he had seen some funny shit. Our next stop was our last real stop and the first trance of direction I would come across. For this whole week I have been doing something, keeping myself busy and now, tonight I change who I am, I visit the Catholic Club. Parking the car at the top of the entrance where there is a parking lot Shawn, Ralf and I made our way into shelter as we awaited Keith who was securing his car. When the four of us united we showed our identity to the bouncers at the front doors and then making our way in I was told to tuck in my shirt. That sort of put me off guard because this shirt would have looked stupid tucked in. Anyway I did it because Keith told me they would be on my back every five minutes. Signing my name in the registry book we made our way into the Catholic Club.

Like routine that I wasn’t aware of, the three of them made their way to the small restaurant there. Seating ourselves on a round four-seater table we ordered and knowing that I had no money Keith offered to buy me something. Everyone ordered a milkshake and so I ordered one too (Only Crunchy). While we waited and feeling relaxed by our surroundings we spoke of the time that Ralf kicked Shawn, Tatton, Kofi and I out of his car. Well, he didn’t actually kick us out but he gave me an alternative as he stopped his car and I decided to jump out. The great thing about that was that everyone else jumped out of the car with me, even though it was raining and we had no lift. Minutes later I called Lucas and he came to pick all of us up just cramming us into his car. Then Ralf told us about a time when one of his friends at the Catholic Club set off the emergency door alarm by mistake. As it happens, this guy was leaning back on his seat and falling backwards very close to the emergency door the chair clipped the latch and that opened the doors. Sirens started to whistle as the emergency door swung open and Ralf’s friend clumped onto the ground, halfway in between rooms. Shocked was his response and dumbfounded was the expression on his face as he shook off the dizziness and jumped up, how embarrassing.

This is where Keith’s Hawaii name-calling came up as we also talked about breaking into Simon’s house. Ralf went off for a split second saying that if anyone tried to break into his house he would cut them up into little pieces. That’s when my sarcasm and sharp remarks came into play. “You know what I would do you broke into my house Ralf” I asked of him amongst our table. Opening his eyes and asking “What” I replied “I would take your dog, cut it into little pieces and post every single piece of that dog to you in the mail, express post.” The table started to laugh at my bent shit and then Ralf tried to come up with some bad shit to equal that, not good enough to remember.

Keith also received some dissing as we noticed some other people with Hawaiian shirts and noted that if Keith called over at least four other people with Hawaiian shirts they could form the ‘Beach Boys’. That once again scored another big laugh and then I noted that if the Olympics allowed musicians, Shawn, I and Ralf would all win gold medals. That then led me to say that Keith could be the learn to play the drums and score a bronze medal as the little drummer boy. That is all due to us speaking about our performance in the Olympics and how Australia is naturally talented with their people. That comment then led me to say that if Shawn, Ralf and I each put on some Hawaiian shirts we could be the Bass Guitar, Guitar and Piano players and once again feeling Keith was left out I noted he could be the little drummer boy.

The milkshake made its way to our table and everyone gulped it down pretty fast. Surprising was the huge amount of milkshake you get, three cups full for only $2. Shawn and Keith both ordered meals and once again, I was surprised by what was inside that meal. When all our conversation was done and all was eaten we then made our way around the whole of the Catholic Club. Our first stop was to book a table to play Snooker and from there we just walked around. Lyssa I didn’t really want to see for the night but if I did I would have gone up to greet her. Rather, I was surprised with who I did see down there. Mallory was one of the first people I noticed down there and looking at her I had to take a second glance not knowing if it was her. Yep, that was definitely her sitting on the TAB tables with one of her friends. With a smile of disbelief on her face she glared, rather, she stared at me and putting a smile on my face I glanced back at her and then we were on our way. Why was everyone in disbelief that I was in the Catholic Club. Could it be for the reason that I used to oppose the idea so much or that it wasn’t my scene. Whatever it was, everyone was surprised to see me but surprised is such a word that doesn’t describe the reactions to their fullest. It’s like these people hadn’t seen me for ten years, that would have been their reaction.

While we walked around I did noticed many people familiar that night. Stopping at a couple of poker machines Shawn, Ralf and Keith put money in to bet and as I sat there watching and feeling slightly out of place I noticed the blonde girl that went out with Brodie ages ago that I had firstly met at Escape. The girl that I talked to outside of Campbelltown Mall and wanted to go out with but didn’t get the chance. Walking past me I stared at her and she reached my eyes with desperation as she walked past. Disbelief was in her eyes as was all others that had seen me and with a big grin on her face she made her debut then left. Neither of us said a word to each other as she faded in the distance. My eyes were never still, there were so much people floating around that my eyes were continuously wandering around looking at beautiful girls. Let me tell you, there were heaps of girls there to perve at but only one attracted me like no other, so beautiful and what’s more I know her through Redd and Nadia. Well, I don’t know her but I’ve seen pictures of her, she used to go out with Jaromir but more on her later.

Marley tapped me on the shoulder as she walked past me and glancing back I noticed her hand outstretched and waving as her eyes glistened towards my direction. From the start of the night and just after seeing Mallory Ralf and Keith noticed Valeriya, the girl I got onto ages ago at an Ingleburn party and got the chance to see her boobs. Valeriya used to be subject to plenty of my prank calls and that’s what I used to do when I got bored at my house, prank her house. Valeriya kept passing us that night and as everyone else thought she had a heaps better body than before I failed to agree. Valeriya was just a touched up version of Phoenix, tall as she is, scraggy as she is but with a proportionally greater body and face. Valeriya tried to get noticed for then night and we had seen almost as much of her as we had seen of Mallory’s reappearing head.

From the guys that I had seen for the night, the three main one’s will now be told. First there was Devon (Lyssa’s friend) which I had seen while walking around to our first poker machines. With a drink in one hand and a smoke in another I went to shake his hand, he took the smoke out and shook my hand. Speaking with him for a minute while still following my friends we just made idle conversation and then I was back on the hunt for my friends. Then there was the guy from across the street from Lyssa’s house. He’s always been a good character and stopping to talk with me while Keith, Shawn and Ralf sat down at another round table in the midst of the large crowd I felt at ease talking with him. Before this I was a bit tense as we all talked with Ned who had approached us and some other guys (One of them looking like Fabio and loving himself, Shawn knew him and his blonde locks). That tension was released talking to him and for five minutes we chatted as he told me about the nightclub upstairs and I told him it was my first venture to the Catholic Club. When all was done and chatted I sat down with the rest of them. The last friend I noticed was Jaromir upon passing him to make our way out of the complex. Jaromir was among the most surprised to see me there because all those times back in the days I used to be so against being at the Catholic Club, now here I was…
