Closing Out the Month

These are the last pages, the last depictions of my living history within July. Closure comes to foregoing patience and shuts down another passage of life with parsimonious greed. However, as July is always followed by August and Winter proceeds to Spring, there will always be another chapter to closure. These memoirs and pages, as cliché as you’d like to imagine, I think of them as an open book.

Where in the entirety, there are no defined good or bad characters and their temperaments can’t always be stereotyped. Rather, as trees grow old, change, flourish and wither, so to is the mettle of each person that grips these pages of my life. Rather, people change perceptibility like the flourishing moon greets us each night and to my words, there are only transitions and stages of alternation within each and everyone’s life, no defined attributes.

With this, the last day of the month, I shall try my best to complete chronology so that my new month has a fresh face. However, as it took me an hour just to work up my forsythe, it should be an interesting couple of hours spanning the rest of today. From what plans do create, Jett is supposedly popping over later today with the Playstation again and I wish to head down to the Gym and work this body one more time.

Petty Cash Errand

Beginning now from quick dukedom of philosophy, I shall entail these next few pages with unfinished chronology of Wednesday at work. What I do remember I can’t really grasp to description but as I believe I have already noted about the train trip and all that, I shall begin with my saga upon the mail. As usual, Najla and I began with the mail early in the morning and it was near to the middle of the mail cycle that I was granted leave. Jana asked if I could head down to Bridge Street for her so I could pick up a petty-cash cheque.

Glad to leave behind the torment of mail (Which isn’t that bad), I preferred to head out on what would be my favored tasks of my work description, errands. Before leaving I was approached by Kelsey who was sitting at her desk with Blythe and as they got a whiff of my departure, they asked if getting some filing done would be too much of a hassle. Shining upon my errant legs, the deed was mine and as I left with a folder of filing and two cab charges, I made my way outside.

Grabbing myself a taxi, there wasn’t much to note except that there wasn’t much conversation between the two of us. Each time I jump in a taxi there is an attempt for me to sustain conversation so that it makes the trip more pleasant and our trip wasn’t full of irascibility due to our lacking words but it was a humbled trip. With the taxi trip complete, I was dropped off just down the street from the AMP Building and heading through the doors, I caught the first elevator which was flashing its direction arrow repeatedly.

Soon I was to realize that the elevator only went to the top levels of the building and as I had to head for level 9, I was in a spot of bother. Finally, making my way back down the elevator, I found the right entrance to level 9 and began my ascent. In the short span of time I’ve headed to Bridge Street’s HIH department which is in the AMP Building, I’ve never had to use the outside phone so I could get access through their door.

This time around it was no different as a lady from inside was heading out so walking myself through, I headed out to the accounts section. Finding them always quiet and mostly unobservant, I raised my voice of question, uncertain on who to chat with. They all looked at me inquisitively and as I showed them the papers for petty cash, I received assistance. Jana needed a cheque drawn up and told me to wait around if it was only going to take fifteen minutes.

Therefore, as the guy told me he would only be twenty minutes, I decided it would be best to save a further trip. “I’ll be back a little later” I uttered, granting myself enough time to knock off the filing with a quick walk to the Supreme Court Building.

The walk from Bridge Street all the way up to the other end of bridge street was supposed to be brisk, ten minutes brisk. In the end, it ended up taking that long but to my confusion, I headed down all these little side streets, confused on exactly where I was headed. When finally my quick-paced walk had been complete, I headed up to the fifth level of the Supreme Court Building to the information from the front desk.

Grabbing myself a ticket and looking as if I was in unfamiliar territory for the filing I had, I was right. Not too long after acquiring my ticket I was beeped up as I had suspected, the guy told me I had to head down to level four. Doing so, I made amends by quickly being treated for the filing that I had and with all done, I made haste back to Bridge Street on foot.

A Look at the Gym

Just a couple of minutes over time, being allowed free passage through the doors again, I made my way over to accounts but couldn’t find the same guy I was chatting to beforehand. Asking another guy where he had scooted off to, he wasn’t sure but gathered that he was just getting signatures for the cheque. “You don’t mind if I check out the Gym while I’m here” I asked and as he shrugged his shoulders passively, I made my way towards the Gym door.

Stepping inside for the time I was waiting, I reviewed the whole innards of the fitness room and found it to be adequate, moreso than our Gym on Kent Street in the garage. This Gym had the desired machines, the right amount of weight, four shower and change rooms and plenty of free weight and bars. Knowing that I was allowed to use this Gym room, my only problem now was in getting into the Gym after 5:00 p.m. as there will be no one around to allow me entry. Therefore, I have to see or ask someone about getting myself identification or a card of entry into the building after hours…

Circling around the Gym like a curious crow, I felt the presence of someone else in the mirror infested room and as I turned to the door creeping open, I noticed it was the guy for the cheque. Making my way out of the Gym he informed me that he couldn’t draw up a cheque for me because Jana still had some sort of cheque she had to clear or send to him back at our office. Having called through to inform her, I was left with the short end of the stick and as we both noted I would be back later, I headed back outside.

Back Through the Streets

Making my way to the revolving doorway to the street entrance, I noticed one of the guys from Diskovery heading through. Noticing me as well, we both stopped to chat to each other, this being the little Philippine guy I always seem to see wandering the streets when I am. With our brisk conversation and short gestures, I was back on my way outside to catch a cab and then commence my journey back to work. Being dropped off at the blow-hole set of lights, I walked back to work, noticing Thalia and Blythe heading outside, probably for drinks.

Each morning, or almost each morning, Jana comes around and asks everyone if they would like coffee or tea from downstairs. Being our morning tea time, I always kindly say no as I don’t like either of the two and would rather orange juice. In the worse stages of my cold, I was almost obliged to buy a drink of tea but scuffling through my wallet and finding a hard time to gather the money, I decided against the soothing taste of tea.

Linh and the Nightclub Plan

Just some quick curtailed notes about Wednesday as the defined process of remembrance eludes me today. Early in the morning, Linh and I noticed each other and as we stopped to chat, he informed me about his plans to head out to ‘Cave’ on Sunday with the boys. Inviting me out with them, I showed my light enthusiasm and interest. Noting that I would give him my number later in the day and that he would give me his mobile phone number, we were back on our way, to our normal duties.

For the whole day I saw him two more times briskly but I failed to head over there and gather his phone number due to being preoccupied. In regards to heading out to ‘Cave’ I gather that because only bankers and insurance places are having a holiday, the nightclub won’t be as packed out as what it normally would be. Therefore, even though there are two rooms there, it won’t be as rewarding to our pocket and valiant ventures if this night would hide, like a cellar beast, the ladies and fun that normally would accompany such an event.

Gawain Gets a Haircut

Just two more quick notes before I dismember and recollect Thursday’s gatherings. Gawain and I seem to have a touch more conversation now within the workplace as he walked past and we said hello to each other. From that one time a week ago when he came over to our area and asked if we had an envelope or something, now we chat and carry on.

The reason I bring Gawain up is because I had seen him with a new haircut on Wednesday. Sporting a shaved head to a three on the shaver, he also thought to die his red berry red or purple as in a highlight to his black. Compared to his old look, this didn’t really show the true Gawain and although it was eccentric, it didn’t allow that window into the zany attitude that I’ve known these past couple of weeks.

Diskovery and the Rubbish Boxes

The last note that I will care to make of Wednesday is how Diskovery kept coming in through the day in regards to all the files that had been sent out earlier in the day. Not sure if I’ve noted this, when I was heading up the elevators in the morning the guy from Diskovery was also there and as we chatted on the way up, he picked up the seven or so files to be photocopied.

There was two to be completed earlier in the day and as he popped back in two hours later, he kept doing so through the whole day. In the morning he took our rubbish box which was originally one of their boxes, just with the flaps ripped off. Later in the day, in one of his seven deliveries he returned with a couple of boxes for our rubbish benefits, how convenient…
