Tennis Night Interruption
While writing this diary entry so late tonight I am flicking onto the television and watching the tennis final between Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras. It has been an arduous night for my chronology but with my detail of Saturday finally at hand it is getting easier. I thought it would be hard to write of such immense detail but with each piece of the puzzle set in place I feel all the more eager to write for the next puzzle.
I might take this short opportunity of pause just to note a couple of small pointers to my weekend. Firstly, I forgot to note that upon coming home on Friday night I was surprised to find that mum had her new kitchen, well, most of it. The guy is coming back on Monday to finish off the job which took the whole day but I am satisfied with what mum has gotten for her money.
Not Ringing Lyssa Back
The other point to this paragraph was to note that Lyssa called me on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. while I was avidly shopping in the City. Knowing that she went to the Glasshouse on the weekend I wasn’t very enthusiastic in calling her back as I didn’t want to hear her boastful tendencies which would otherwise make me abhorrent. I hate when Lyssa speaks of her personal life in respect to her braggart weekends and how Ralf has the most beautiful hair she’s ever seen.
That’s the reason I chose to ignore the message that mum had given me when coming back home on Saturday night. I figure that if Lyssa really wanted to make idle conversation she would have called again today but she didn’t. You might think I continually test Lyssa by not calling her back but I’m just distancing myself from her rambling arbitrary chatter. Since I hadn’t accomplished anything for the weekend apart from staying at home on Friday and shopping in the City for Saturday, I didn’t want to compete with Lyssa’s stories.
In addition, I knew that Lyssa would have her trademark mocks at my having gone shopping with Shawn in the City. Lyssa would have ridiculed me with her bitchy laughing if I would even consider telling her what sort of club shoes I was thinking of buying in the City. I know that if Lyssa daunts me by asking if I looked gay in my new clothes she would most definitely find some way to take the mickey out of me. Enough of that now anyway, back to the chit chat…
Shawn Falls For A Jacket
Walking across to the other side of Oxford Street we made our way past Byblos in our attempt to find some more fad clothing stores. Looking around for Guys & Dolls and being a bit lost as to where it was we ended up walking into Pile Up, or so I thought it was. Whilst in there I tried looking for the great pants I had seen weeks earlier but someone had moved the men’s section around to some other section of the store.
Shawn found his way to a clothes rack which had some jackets stacked up and he fell in love with one of the jackets there. Being black and having Velcro straps at the top and bottom, it also had a zipper and unseen buttons which buttoned up so you couldn’t see the zipper. It was one flashy piece of clothing but Shawn noted he didn’t want to spend all the money he brought in just for a jacket. Despite his being considerably cold outside he placed the jacket back on the rack and left his dreams behind.
Hunting For Braids
Heading down the street a touch more I came across a hairdresser which looked pretty stylish and as I had done with many stores in the City I stopped, squealed and noted that we had to make our entrance. Grabbing the booklet from out of one of my more favored pockets of the reflector pants I made my way into the hairdresser and up to the man behind a classy counter. The guys looked a touch gay in this salon style location and as I asked if they could braid hair I was told they didn’t do it.
However, they did direct me down the road to a place they told me was called ‘Soho’. “If you head down there you’ll find they can braid your hair however you want”. Receiving directions to the location we made our way out of the hairdressers and down Oxford Street some more. Finding ‘Soho’ fairly easy down one of the side-streets from Oxford I was wondering whether I should head in or not. It was a good thing that I did decide to try it out as we headed to the front of the store and both Shawn and I checked out the Polaroids of people who had their hair braided.
Gracing the inside of the store I found there to be a girl sitting down as three assistants dreaded her hair, it looked cool. The shop looked more like they only sold wigs but as I had seen this girl getting her dreads done and the pictures at the front of the store I figured they could help me out. As Shawn headed outside for some reason I gathered that he just wasn’t comfortable in the store but later it turned out that he just made his way to Hungry Jacks because, as you would have guessed, he was hungry.
In that time I talked to one of the ladies in the store about getting my hair in French Braids and as I showed her the pictures she advised me that the guy in the picture had his hair dreaded, just smaller dreads. This set me back a touch but as she showed me a little portfolio of pictures where guys and girls had their hair braided I thought to take a read through. Almost all of the girls in the book looked attractive with their braided extensions but when it came to the guys none of them except for one looked decent.
However, the hair that I was looking at which was braided to shoulder length was a view from the back and therefore, I couldn’t see the face. It looked to me as if braided extensions would make me look weird and on the scale of grungy but it was set in my heart.
Wig Hair In The Back Room
The lady at ‘Soho’ asked me to take a seat after I showed her how I wanted my hair to look. “You wait for a minute and I’ll show you want it would look like” she commented. “Just let me inform my friend outside what’s going on” I answered but as I walked outside I saw no sign of Shawn. Despite this I headed into a back room with the lady who brought with her some black wig hair pretty much the length of mine.
As she took some of my side hair from the bottom she started twisting it and then added the wig hair into the braid. Combining the both of them together she twisted it up to a certain degree and then singed the end of the fake hair. Shawn had come back into the store around this time informing me that he just had something to eat. Taking a gander at what the lady had just accomplished both of us liked what we had seen.
It was a broad new step on the horizons of a complete change for me and both of us liked what change it would make. However, I had my doubts as to how real my hair would appear to be with full braid extensions. Judging from the pictures I knew it wouldn’t look very real but it was fashion, something to do. I knew that it would create a better image than what I have now, well at least a completely different one. The lady cut the singed part of the hair and then undone the braiding for me.
From here we talked of the price in which I wasn’t surprised at al when she noted it would cost $350. As I jumped up I noticed smaller braids and upon asking how much extra this would cost the maximum I would have to pay would be $400. This in reality was a good all round price for braided extensions which would take the whole day to put in and would last me two months. With these newly uprising thoughts of dreads firmly affixed in my mind now the both of us headed out of there, enlightened on what would one day become my newest trend.
Shoes One Size Too Small
The last clothing store we checked out on Oxford Street (Our first leg out of four) was one called ‘Oxford Studio Clothing’. The reason I thought to check out this store was because we were crossing the road and I noticed the hottest ass owned by a very hot black haired chick. As she stepped into a store I made haste to cross the road and then seeing her ass head behind a counter I ushered Shawn in with me.
It wasn’t long before I noticed that it was a women’s store and as Shawn stood out the front I wasn’t discomforted. Just as I was about to head out the door I noticed some good looking club shoes and edging my way back to the lady and the guy assistant she was chatting with I inquired about the shoes. “Is this a women’s only store” I asked inquisitively and as the guy replied to my answer favorably in which I was in a woman’s store he decided to take me next door, to the men’s section.
The shoes that I had seen in this store I really wanted to wear but unfortunately they didn’t have my size. As we walked to the other store, in my mind I said goodbye to a great ass and a greater figure. When in the men’s store the assistant showed me to the shoe section in which I found the exact shoes from the lady’s section. Unfortunately, the biggest size was two sizes smaller than what I could fit into and it was a shame because later in the day Shawn noted that they were the best shoes he had seen in our day of shopping.
I asked the guy for his business card in hopes that I can head back there one day in which he was ordering larger sizes. However, that didn’t help my immediate inquiry as Shawn and I headed out and made our way down the rest of Oxford Street. Thus far we had bought nothing out of everything we had seen but it was really a warm-up, just the beginning of our illustrious day.
Strike Talk And Sleep
Unfortunately, this is all I can gracefully yield to these pages today as I have to grab myself some sleep now. The time is 12:15 a.m. and the day is well over so now I must sleep for an unknown Monday. From what I hear, the strike is supposed to have been postponed until Monday so if this is true, there will be no trains to the City.
Speaking of trains, the reason why we had to travel past Granville is because there was track-work happening on the East Hills line meaning no trains thoroughfare. Anyway, my eyes are tired and I must sleep so let the next three hours of Monday’s night after work be commensurable for the deeds and tasks at hand…
