Looking Back at Three Years of Diary

These words of mine speak with a more sociable tongue than when I first began in this Diary. What amazes me when I look back in my Diary is the length of times some things appear to have been. For instance, almost a week ago I watched “Rumble in the Bronx” on television thinking it came out around the time Lyssa and I started going out but it was in actuality a year before that.

Then there’s the thought that my Diary has only lived through one Olympics and for that I lived through all the bidding and hype that the Olympics has thus far been through. In that light, this Diary is only a baby where most of the things I speak of are vividly remembered or seem like they weren’t that long ago. However, in those three years I have seen a dramatic change in all aspects of myself. Be in my character, my manners, my literature, my knowledge or my intelligible nature, I have changed in many ways.

Fairly Really and Pretty

Drawing parallels with an archeological dig, the artifacts of knowledge I have recovered from my past are boggling to the mind. I’m still to draw an accurate diagram from the correlating data but right now, I know parts of my literature structure back in the day. For example, there weren’t much adverbs, adjectives, synonyms or colorful words that I used to use back in those days. My main adverbs in mid 1996 would have been ‘Fairly’, ‘Really’ or ‘Pretty’. Much of my language would have consisted of basic words and it would have been immersed with the use of ‘And’ instead of any other correlative word.

Through my years I have become less naïve and more politically correct in my Diary despite no one in the immediate future reading it except for me. Maybe I moved past the thought of the Diary just being for my eyes only and when I began to view my Diary as a doorway to a profitable future, it began to change how I wrote in my Diary. No more did I write any jargon but I tightened up my English, I made more sense out of it, I made it interesting and mostly, I made it worth something.

A Black Screen and No Spellchecker

The start of my Diary days weren’t that expressive because expression wasn’t vastly imperative back then. My mind wasn’t mature enough to write as freely and as poetically as I do these days but some words and entries did surprise me a little. Some of the problems I had back in 1996 were to introduce words with capital letters in the middle of a sentence where it wasn’t needed. Remember that I was working on the most basic spreadsheet you could imagine where you could only type and that was it. No fancy borders, no spelling checkers, no thesaurus, just a black screen and white writing.

The most frequently used common words were words like ‘Got’, ‘And’, ‘But’, ‘Even Though’, ‘Guy’, ‘Once Again’, ‘Later On’ and much more other words that made up the basics of what I wrote. Despite my vocabulary not being extensive, I did make plenty of spelling mistakes. This was due to my stepping into something new, getting used to typing quickly and using a basic editor. Some words would be completely misspelled, others would have dropped letters, some with an extra letter and some had a doubled letter, usually at the end.

Paragraphs were rarely used back in those days because I wasn’t very literate but if you were to find paragraphs, you can thank my going back and placing them. Mostly I am trying to keep these diary entries in their archaic form apart from all the spelling mistakes and huge sentences. I would like to keep the simplistic structure intact so that it can reveal the building that took place of my knowledge in English and in life.

Spell-Checking Through the Night

Don’t be alarmed about the time in which I am writing this entry because I haven’t been to sleep yet. The way I figure, if I can spell-check at least three months a night I could have this phase complete within two weeks. From there the hardest and longest part of my data compilation will take place, where I actually have to break down the text and read it thoroughly. Here I can touch up anything I might have missed to create the best and most intelligible format of reading thus far.

Two Birthdays Two Days Apart

Far from this now, I was amazed by something I noticed while spell-checking one of my earlier entries. Reading a little part where I was speaking about Kathryn I realized that her birthday was on August 18th. This at first astonished me as I thought it was the same birthday as Lyssa but then I realized, Lyssa’s birthday was on the 20th of August.

Despite my little glitch in memory their dates of birth are remarkably around the same time and save for two days, I think my picking women who have similarities in some way is remarkable. Maybe this was just a one off but I tend to think it was a remarkable bit of accuracy.

Another School Shooting

Before I leave these pages that entrap my mind and enthrall yours I have a little to say about the recent news. As you know there is the war happening in Kosovo that has been going on for a couple of weeks but just yesterday there was another mass shooting at an American school. This time around two Nazi followers who called themselves the “Trench Coat Bandits” walked into their school with pipe bombs and 9mm guns and killed 15 people.

They had a racial tendency to kill blacks and people involved in sports and it has overtaken the news regarding Kosovo. That to me is tragic and my heart like all others around the world goes out to the families of the victims and to the victims themselves.

Helicopters and Nostradamus

Speaking now on the ground of Kosovo, news is that Apache Helicopters are landing in neighboring Albania, ready for a ground assault. NATO isn’t actually sending in ground forces but they are sending in the Helicopters to rid Kosovo’s tank and ground troops. This is looking more and more like the means to another world war and if NATO does send in ground troops then Russia will inevitably associate themselves to help Kosovo.

What I fear is that Russia will detonate nuclear bombs in the major provinces of NATO and I know that one of them will be headed for Sydney. Let us hope that Nostradamus hasn’t got a strong hold in his prediction for a third world war this year. Instead, let us hope that some lasting peace will come out of this, not disastrous conflict.

Tamsen Helps After the Hailstorm

The last two little comments I will make are that, short. The first is that Tamsen is part of the SES and right now she is in Sydney helping out the victims of the hailstorm just one week ago. There she has been for a couple of days now and Keith’s starting to get upset and on edge for sex because he hasn’t seen her for a while. Apart from that but probably with the same context I must recite a saying I think is a renowned proverb. Whatever the real proverb is, my saying goes “Lucky in love, unlucky in lust” where it would be quite the opposite for Imad.

There are two types of people in the world when it comes to love. There are those who want love and are bad at seeking lustful relationships and then there are the people who live on one-night stands but can’t find someone to love or love within themselves. Let those parting words carry me out now, where I will get to sleep within an hour or two and then wake up later tonight to do this all over again…
