Hazy Memories Of Work

Grabbing the mail from downstairs I headed up to our department and camping myself in our little section I said hello to Najla. Esme was away for another day and this made it the third consecutive occasion since Friday. There is not much remembrance of the actual undergoings of my work day but I do recall that I done the morning mail for a change.

In this time Najla managed to get out one or two of her briefs that were late in being done. I’m not entirely positive on whether both Najla and I were run on errands regarding petty cash but I can be sure that I was given another errand or two to accomplish for the day. Despite these undermined recollections of a day ere I shall forget jagged depiction and lead myself to what I remember best, lunch…

New Shoes For Free

Heading out for lunch at noon I had only one real agenda on my mind, exchanging my shoes. If I haven’t gone into detail yet (Which I think I have), it has only been almost two weeks and already they had started to rip on the sides, create a crease along the toes despite being leather and costing a lung. In the rips there appeared to be some white fluffy powder which made the shoes look desperately unattractive and it was just a joke how I paid $180 for A-Grade shoes only to have them disintegrate days later.

Believing that my query would take up the better part of my lunch hour I paced myself to the store figuring that the guy who sold me my shoes won’t be in there again. Nevertheless, he was looming around in the store and holding my breathe and faith as I walked in the door the big smile on his face led by commissions through my payments said it all. Dubiety played a part as I also thought his smile was of sincerity but the true telling tail would be how he would handle my pliable complaint regarding my worn shoes.

I figured he would be able to give me the runaround as I didn’t have my receipt but as I showed him my shoes and explained my case he sat there stunned as to how the shoes could have worn so ineffectively. Perplexed and stunned by his sincerity in resolving my complaint I could only imagine that he was thinking “What if I was in this guy’s shoes”. Grabbing me a brand new pair and not even asking for a receipt I had thrown away he fit me into a new pair and as I done the laces up he told me without hassle that those shoes were mine.

Pleased with his invaluable help my decision on creating an embargo of buying prowess from that shop was lifted. My buying further clothes from Politix all came down to how the staff treated me and after his gallant assistance I am ready to stick a medal on his Chest and that of Politix.

Lunch In Hyde Park

Held up for only fifteen minutes I walked around getting accustomed to my brand new shoes. Deciding to buy two sushi rolls I didn’t have the time to head up to my evergreen tree in Hyde Park so I just made myself up to an equally desirable location just up from St. James Station, still in Hyde Park. Sitting where the water fountain is with the rocks as stools, I sat down all on my lonesome and began eating away at my sushi rolls.

The ground was wet from rain so there was no way I could sit on the ground. However, this was a healthy alternative as I didn’t feel like all eye’s were on me and I felt relaxed as I finished eating, waited for a couple of minutes and then headed back to work. On the way back to work I bumped into Jonas, the guy I saw at Chevy’s. As we passed each other on the street we stopped to chat and he asked me where I headed for lunch and what I bought.

To me it sounded like he wanted to put together a lunch plan but just didn’t have the mention in hand so I’ll have to remember that for when next we meet. If it will be so, I’ll be heading out to lunch with two people from opposite sides of our second floor office space. Legal is in the middle of both of them which are adjacent on each end of legal, on opposing walls. The plans for lunch tomorrow with Linh, the possibility of more integration, things can only get better.

Centrepoint Daydreams

Heading back to work it was Najla’s turn to head out for lunch and as she did I started jotting down pointers in which I was thinking of back when eating sushi. I wrote down in my little notepad how I was inspired by looking at the sculptures on Centrepoint to actually head up to the observing room one more time. The last I did look out from upon there was when I took Clover up there some three to four years ago now.

What’s more, there would be a grand place for eating up there at lunchtime and I could even take my food up to the observatory room and eat whilst looking upon the City. The thought of taking pictures was also evident so that soon might become a reality for me. In addition, I also thought about the idea of heading out to see a Broadway style musical at any theater in the City. What greatness would come from my watching a Shakespearean Play one of these weekends and what more benefit would I receive taking someone along.

Filing And Paper Cuts

The second half of the day with Najla’s arrival had seen me get stuck into creating a brief as Najla completed the outgoing mail. David’s filing was also beginning to pile up ridiculously so I took an hour or two out of the end of our day to try and get some of that down. Seriously, you could have had a stump of a reasonable sized tree sitting in that filing folder and it’s more of an aggravation knowing that David hides all the files in his room.

Therefore, we not only have to chase up the files but we have to do it in his lunch break because David doesn’t like his sacred space being disturbed. Too late, with my naïve actions I don’t really take in the fact that David wants his own space. If I need a file I go in there and get it despite these idiosyncrasies of David. If he looks at me as if I’m outside the ring of do-gooders then that’s either more power to me or more aggravation to David.

Whilst trying to hurry the filing at the end of the day I received my biggest paper cut thus far. In this job paper cuts are part of the job and each day I am eroding my hands in some way. Patient I do wait for the weekend to arrive so that my hands can heal but the irony is that I have to do it all again.

Anyway, the paper cut began bleeding immediately from the same finger which I almost sliced off ages ago whilst chopping with my mum’s sharp knife upstairs. There was also more stress placed on us as Kelsey had given us photocopies to do and David noted that he wanted them done in the day. What sort of a knock back would he receive when his words have not come through as we took priority in his filing…

Tatiana Might Be Interested

The end of the day came quick and the rapture quicker as Najla and I escaped through the doors and caught the elevator down. For some curious reason the elevators haven’t been crammed at 5:00 p.m., probably because everyone leaves a tad earlier and takes the steps. As we left we said goodbye to Kelsey, Edith and whoever was standing around. I also said goodbye to Tatiana in which I hope I will get to know plentifully in the future as despite being a Solicitor, she is fairly good looking and I figure she knows I have some degree of interest in her.

Maybe I’m being stupid but it seemed she held some interest in me as she continually walked over to Kelsey’s desk to chat with both Kelsey and Edith. Being in my view at all times I figured she snuck in a look or two down my way and I have to admit, wearing the tighter than usual work clothes I wear coupled with the new stylish shirts and ties I’m buying (Add to that my being the only guy in the Legal Department), of course Tatiana’s going to have a gander on occasion.

Finally informing Najla about my memoirs and how much I type in these pages of a night her wonderment shined through. Heading home on my Tuesday afternoon I caught the express train home, deciding as usual to rest my weary eyes. When in Campbelltown I bought some pumpkin and then headed to my bus in which it took me home. The rest of my Tuesday night I shall leave until tomorrow when I head back from the Gym. For now, the time is again moving being the point of 11:30 p.m. so I shall sleep now, sleep…
