The Walking Home Idea
Gearing up near 3:30 a.m. I made the proposition that the three of us should try and walk home, it would be an adventure. Shawn being his drunk self and not wanting to get sleep but annoyed as I was that Callum was waiting for us to make some sort of move backed my idea up. Tatton was undecided but after I told him it would be an experience we would remember for the rest of our lives he buckled but more to Shawn’s will.
Asking Callum for two cans of soft-drink for the five hour long estimated walking journey from Macquarie Fields to Bradbury I knew we would need them. Shawn drank the rest of the bottle of Whiskey and taking our cans I was dubbed, Young Indiana Jones for my persistency for this Quest. Seeing that Callum was eager to get to sleep and get us to get to sleep I thought heading home would be a better idea, nothing better was happening. So off we started up Tamsen’s long driveway, to the gate and opening it to a new darkened world.
One Sock Each
No traffic lights were along Tamsen’s road and being pitch black, it would be at least ten minutes until we got to street lights. Before we even started Shawn started complaining in what would be a string of complaining through the night. His fist complaint was that he had no socks on, it had been raining and his toes were blistering.
Taking off his left sock, Tatton gave his sock to Shawn and now the both of them were only wearing one sock each. Starting our journey Shawn kept complaining how he was so drunk and he couldn’t believe that we were actually walking home. The idea of walking back to the house had crossed his mind a couple of meters up the road but considering it would look yielding that we headed back after heading off I decided to keep walking.
Young Indiana Jones I was leading my pack to the lights of Macquarie Fields and taking us ten minutes just to get to there we were confronted with a decision. Either head to the station or head directly home through all the suburbs and with overwhelming demand, the station was the go. Neither Shawn or Tatton had the determination to walk home so we headed down towards Ingleburn station.
Two Socks on One Foot
Walking up the Macquarie Fields main road that I used to walk on when coming back from Gridiron Shawn complained that his foot was still aching and that he needed another sock. Wanting to add to the extremity of humor that our situation could endear I took off my sock and gave it to him to put over his first sock. Now Tatton and I were with one sock on our feet and Shawn had two socks on one foot, bizarre.
Our journey kept on as we walked to reach a sign along the top of Macquarie Fields to read that we were entering Ingleburn. That had taken us an hour to reach and moral was not with us. Through Ingleburn we did walk but Shawn’s plan was now to find a phone instead of the station because he knew the trains would be too long to wait for. Scraping up money out of his wallet he also tried catching a taxi to see how far we would get with $10 but we never did hail one.
Hunting for a Payphone
Wanting to give Keith a call Shawn said that I would be our best bet to talk to him because Keith loved me so much since he gave me free money but not them. Walking up the main street of Ingleburn Shawn told me he knew of a phone there and looking up the road and past the roundabout we were on we noticed it.
Cheering and getting happy we walked towards it and with Tatton’s fears that we were going to get bashed I picked up a rope and a broken bottom end of a shovel and tied them together for fun. For half of the way I thought to add more to the sock caper and roll my shirt up to look gay as we were walking but no cars ever got to see as I would change to normality before they appeared.
Cop cars were heading past us every second minute but I was surprised that we weren’t pulled up and asked questions by any of them. Shawn called out abuse to a passing van because he wanted to get a lift to Campbelltown in the back but even that didn’t work. Shawn and Tatton kept complaining how if I didn’t want to be Indiana Jones we wouldn’t be in this mess.
Calling Keith at Dawn
Tiring limbs and buckling knees, we were coming to the end of our straw. Shawn was constantly complaining about his feet, Tatton was getting tired and I was coming to the point where lethargy and thoughts of sleep were setting in. Making our way to the payphone Shawn had picked out he gave me some money and I called Keith’s mobile phone.
The time was 4:30 a.m. or later and having to ring Keith twice he picked up the second time. “Hello”, he said in a groggy voice and breaking out in my bogus story of how we left Tamsen’s house because we were afraid Callum was going to try and bonk us he held some sympathy. “Man, don’t ask me to do this” he moaned, “Call Ralf up or something” but we weren’t having any of that. Agreeing to help us out Shawn gave him directions to where we would be and I was under the impression that he was coming to pick the three of us up and take us home.
Tamsen Comes to Collect Us
Twenty minutes of patient waiting and hearing our voices echo amongst the houses we began to get wary of Keith not coming yet. Giving me some more money I called Keith back up and then found that he was still at home and that he had sent Tamsen to come pick us up. Great, the great bitch of bitches had been woken up by Keith calling her mobile phone and then asked to come pick us up after one hour of sleep, talk about deprived.
Keith stooped that low as he told me that Tamsen was waiting for the three of us at Ingleburn service station but as I argued morality with him we told him to ring up Tamsen again and come to where we are. Finally after a minute she came to pick us up and the three of us knew we were in for some fireworks. Making a U-Turn on the main road to get to us she looked calmly furious behind her steering wheel but all we could do was hold our breath.
Shawn mumbled something as soon as we got in the car and later I found out it was “Sorry”. His apology struck a chord in Tamsen as she blurted out “Look, don’t even say anything, do you think I enjoy coming out here and picking you guys up”. Nothing more was said after that except for one more thing from me. Asking Tamsen out of curiosity if Keith had called her mobile phone and not her home phone she told me it was her mobile phone which made me somewhat relieved at his higher stooping than I thought.
Sleeping in the Party Room
Arriving back at Tamsen’s house she jumped out of the car without a worry about us and then headed quickly into the house. Closing the door fairly rapidly on her way in we were left not knowing what we should do now and with Shawn and Tatton blaming me for being Indiana Jones.
Heading into the party room where Tyler had been sleeping on the ground we decided to make our beds for the night right there. Taking our shoes and one socks off we tried our hardest to be appreciative and quiet. Seconds later we heard Tamsen’s dad come out and with a angered tone he asked if the gate was closed and as we said it was he slammed the door and stormed off to bed. The whole family was just trying some way to pick at us for being so tardy with our ways.
Giggling Over Tyler’s Hair
For the next half an hour that we tried to get to sleep without pillows I kept putting my hand through Tyler’s hair pretending I was Callum and in his sleep he started to moan and appreciate it. This made for fodder in our laughter and as much as I tried to hold myself back the humor was too much. For the next half an hour I was giggling and trying to contain my laughter but when I would stop I would start up again by myself or because Shawn was still laughing.
Then there was the time when Tyler turned around to get away from me touching his neck and hair and when he did he put his feet on my. Turning to face his feet I started tickling them and each time I did he let out a little kick. Thinking that it was Tatton he slapped him on the ass but I just slapped Tyler back, he didn’t know what was going on. Everyone got to sleep before me as I calmed down and 6:00 a.m. was around the time that I finally drifted off in my uncomfortable surroundings to get some sleep.
Sunday Morning Lift Home
Waking up at 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning with the rest of them I only had three hours of sleep but oddly it seemed enough. Shawn and Tyler were gearing to head home and knowing everyone else would be waking up in an hour and that we would get the heated debates of morality I thought it a wise idea to head home.
Grabbing some pieces of Pizza with me we headed to Tyler’s car and warming it up we were on our way home. Opening the front gate so I could have more time to my morning Pizza I dropped one on the ground as a result and although I was pissed off it didn’t matter as Tyler didn’t want me eating in his car. Tatton was the first one to be dropped off and although the night before we planned to stay up all night and head to my house to play the Play Station that plan seemed to be on ice for the moment.
Next was Shawn to head home but before we left he brought me the Play Station so I could practice Madden for his arrival on Sunday night, after he got some sleep of course. The last stop was my house and as it had started to sprinkle I said goodbye to Tyler and walked into my house.
A Sonnet at Dawn
You know, now as I take a break from chronology and as I have just finished concluding Saturday night I will speak of my Diary’s age of three years now. The time right now is 6:00 a.m. and as I am already into March 9th, this is only just over an hour away from my start in this Diary three years ago.
My first entry began at 4:45 a.m. March 9th so I have now lived to see and write about the day I first began my continual and flawless literature. As I am about to get to sleep for my night of nocturnal nature I will now publish a Sonnet that is only hours old and has come in my time of negativity. To be truthful, this Sonnet was confusing for me to establish a grounds of its workings but despite my constant cramming thoughts of what to write and how to express it I came up with something.
Now, the lost years Sonnets ask for a certain class and understanding to be deemed such and this is part of the lost years Sonnets so lets see if it will live up to its name. Tonight I will include the Sonnet but when I awaken I will speak of the meaning. Today chronology, tomorrow the world, and I will capture the hearts of people with my Sonnets.
The Lost Years Sonnet
Wherefore art thou, my love’s perilous greed,
(‘The Lost Years’ Sonnets)
Thou art love on earth but in heaven’s whole,
Such that I’th never graced thy confused boon,
That thou wast none more than my ember’s glow,
And spent was the sun, didst tether the moon,
That I’th learnt with meticulous discern,
A bird must be a bird to chirp at dawn,
Wherefore bid I run through love’s scornful yearn,
Plagued that if ‘twere a dove, thou shalt hast worn,
Love ‘twas a vulture that bethought me dead,
That it had plucked at my rightful living,
And this love betrothed, that ‘twas rightly fed,
Left in tatters, my trustful believing,
Am I to love not just a nimble reed,
And If thou prick yon hand doth not it bleed,
Fear Is a Vulture
Now before I exit my scriptures tonight let me just add two more earlier pieces of poetry where one of them just happens to be an aphorism. Firstly let me include the aphorism that dwells upon part of the ‘Vulture’ aspect of the other Sonnet. Let me also just note that the idea to depict Vultures for love came from reading my Encyclopedia Dictionary and then bang, a thought hit me when I did see the name ‘Vulture’.
Vultures depicted in love signify that I felt like love was eating away at me, it was breaking me down and wounding me emotionally. One more thing, the representation of ‘Chord’ simply means his spine, his backbone and he feels that fear is making him spineless. Anyway, here is that aphorism.
Fear is a vulture and it plucks my chord,
A Quatrain for Singing
Now to include one more piece of poetry and being a quatrain, let me just note something about it. Firstly, this came to me when I was trying to see if a Sonnet would be a good basis to create a song and thus, I began writing a Sonnet with words that I was singing to see if ten syllables for each lyrical line would be enough. With that I came across a formula of words that I have changed to now but the end result is just the same, only better.
Love is a sonnet when I speak my tongue,
Love is a hermit that can do no wrong,
Love is a harp and with hope is it strung,
For the tears and the blues, they come home strong,
Just picture this latest endearment of words as lyrics and sing them to yourself. This I tried and I came up with a fairly catchy bunch of lyrics and chords to go with it, see if you can do the same. Anyway, I best be off now for sleep but like I said, I will explain the Sonnet when I do approach these pages once again.

Diary Of A Mad Chaos is a daily diary written from March 1996 until today, of which individual books and book series have been created, namely “The Lost Years” an exploration of young, entwined love, the “Wubao In China (猎艳奇缘)” book series which provides an extensive comparative analysis of the cultural differences between Eastern and Western societies, and the book titled “Foreigner (华人)” an exploration of race relations in Australia.
