Waking Early for Once
Thursday 2:19 p.m.
The last intermission was brought to you by Keith Incorporated… The excitement of waking up early and seeing the sun in my veins, I wanted to head out and enjoy what I was seeing. Thus, I gave Keith a cal while I was writing in my Diary and soon later he came over. From there we headed to the link to send a fax and from there we headed to Macarthur Square to check out some pants and then it was time to come home.
Keith and the Free Money
What I think was funny and selfish was how Tamsen took Keith’s Keycard from him so that he wouldn’t be persuaded to take money out from work but Keith knows ways around it. Tamsen was smart to take his card from him as he’s going over the top with taking free money out but when he asked me for my card so that he could keep doing it I granted it to him on one condition.
“Seeming I’m giving you my card to do your dirty work get me out some money as well and you can have it” I said in an influential way. His reaction was “I knew you would say that” and I knew that he would turn down my offer because he’s so greedy. Go figure that someone can take out $600 of free money without feeling guilty and then when I ask for some service payment he doesn’t want anything to do with it.
Shawn told me last night when he rang up that Keith was getting the dole as well as working at his job but he got busted by the Taxation Office and now he has to pay it back. How selfish can Keith get where he gets $500 from work, he takes an average of $300 a week from the Eftpos machine, $300 a fortnight on dole, over $200,000 in the bank and yet he scabs most of his money from Tamsen, he doesn’t like driving his car around to save on petrol and he’s always forceful on others to get him the best deal so he can get the better of them.
Keith the Stingy God
If Keith were a God he would be the one that taketh from all that giveth. His belly would be the world’s economy, his hands would be the interest, his eyes the self-seeking and he, the fat boy starved for parsimonious deeds. When you ask this God for Godly favors his stingy mind would forbid it and his greedy appetite would cast it off as it would endear his name, God of Self-worship.
Back to the Wednesday Alarm
Getting back now to my chronology we are up to the part where my alarm bell rings at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning and it is my painstaking job to get out of bed. When that alarm did ring I felt relieved but then, like a burden had been lifted from my shoulders I was able to drift off and get some proper sleep. It’s as if I kept myself awake all night because I was afraid the alarm wouldn’t work and then when it finally did I felt sleepy.
However, before I started to doze off I got myself up and jumped into the shower, ready for my day. In the contemplating stages of waking up I was disposed not to get up but the better of me arose and so did it enter the shower. With some time passing and my putting on some suitable clothes I asked dad if he would give me a lift to the station, he was fine with that. Once at the station I thanked dad for the lift and then jumped out with my suit on and Resume in hand.
A Silent Train Ride
The whole trip to the City was rather silenced and dormant as I was in that non-talkative mood. The train trip there was rather silent anyway where there was no one to really look at. There was a girl that jumped on at Campbelltown that looked fine but she jumped on the carriage next to mine and I was a bit down because of that.
However, stopping at Wynyard in the City I jumped out and made my way to the offices on Hunter Street where I supposedly had been before. For the whole night before I was trying to remember which of the three better places I had visited was ‘IPA’ the one that I was seeing for Wednesday. Even when I walked to the building and up to my floor I didn’t realize which one it would be but finally making it to the office it all came back to me.
IPA wasn’t a temping agency that I actually talked to anyone with, it was just one where I handed in my Resume and they said they would call back, well they did. Dormancy was now a thing of the past as I had to put on a face but it seemed that the feeling of the agency brought out my well-known anxiety.
Rehearsing My Answer
Taking a seat as the Receptionist called out my interviewer I glanced around hoping that I would be able to find my courage in words when we were in there. All the way to the City I was thinking about that one question they were going to ask me “What did you do between the time of your last job and now”. The best I came to receiving an answer was to explain that I quit work because there wasn’t enough of it there and from there I took up an interest in arts and literature, independent studies, musicology and poetry.
As my lady interviewer came out and showed her face I shook her hand but I think that my hands were a bit moist from my anxiety. Making our way to the interviewing room I was more anxious when the room was all wooden and thus, it had an echo within it. This hearing my voice echo made me all the more uncomfortable and for most of my speaking I was in one tone but there were some savoring parts about it.
The interviewing lady asked me all the questions including what I would want out of a job, what is more important to me, what kind of job do I want and then all the history questions about myself. Within all these questions I didn’t choke but rather answered them fairly and to the best that I could offer. Always having moderate answers, not too short, not too long. This would probably explain why she decided to hand me a bunch of paper work for me to fill out including my bank details and the employee form for when you start work.
Scoring Well on the Tests
Once this was all filled out she told me that it would probably be a week or two before I start getting work and she doesn’t know the frequency of it until I do my tests. These were two tests, one that I had done ages ago which consists of 40 questions based on the Microsoft Word Package and the other was just an Alphanumeric typing test. Edith (Which is my interviewer) placed me on the computer and then had to attend another interview but it didn’t bother me as I got started.
Handing my work to the Receptionist at the end of it all we were both surprised at my performance. With the Microsoft Word test I scored 78 % overall and out of the 40 questions only 9 of them were wrong. For my Alphanumeric test I achieved 13000 Keystrokes per hour and that to me was fairly astonishing. Taking a copy for myself to show future employers I thanked the Receptionist and headed out. While leaving I remembered that Edith told me she was going to ring the two Referees that I had labeled on my Resume and she warned me that it was best if I give them both a call to inform them on what is happening.
