First Night at the Catholic Club (Part 1) – Mad Chaos: October 10, 1998

So bleak did my day look, so alone would it have been if none had happened eventful. For most of my day I sat at home, playing the computer. Waking up at 11:30 a.m. from another late night and late sleep in I had my usual shower, something to eat and then it was an unusual routine. Having nothing to do for my boring day and gathering that I wasn’t going out for the night I spent my day playing computer games. Time passed and when the clock ticked past 6:30 p.m. and the daylight was almost as visible as the air that I breathe I thought to give Jett a call. At first I gathered that Jett would dog it tomorrow and would be off somewhere with Min-Su but I called him regardless. Picking up the phone was Jett’s brother and that’s when I found out he was going to the movies, probably with Min-Su for the night.

From there I Figured to call Keith on his mobile phone because word was that Jett was with Tamsen in her car. Ringing Keith up I asked what was happening for the night and he told me that him and Ralf were going to the Catholic Club in an hour or two and Keith was going to ask me to go along. That sounded inviting but I figured to myself that I would be too out of place there. Then again I thought that it was far too long for me to be putting off the Catholic Club and I had nothing else better to do. I told Keith I would think about it.

Next, it was time to give Lyssa a call since I told her I would from yesterday. Taking six rings I didn’t think Lyssa would be there but her brother answered the phone. As he asked for Lyssa he asked my name and a bit clued out I answered, “Okay” but then when I told him my name he was like “Ooh, alright” in a cool way. Lyssa jumped on the phone and sounded pretty sad. Knowing the exact reason why Lyssa was so sad I kept at it until she confessed that she was upset for the reason that she hadn’t once again had her periods. Those words cut a little deeper but I still firmly believe that Lyssa can’t be pregnant. How long will I wait until I believe it, too long… Lyssa realized that she needed to get her tests done as soon as possible so tomorrow Lyssa is going to the doctors and taking a home pregnancy test. If Lyssa is pregnant, in a way it will be good knowing that I’m not a blank shooting kind of guy. Tomorrow I will know my answer and although I am not nervous right now, I know I will be when the phone rings tomorrow.

Lyssa had to get off the phone early because she was preparing for her night. I didn’t ask what she was doing but I figured she was off to a nightclub. Letting Lyssa go after a couple minutes more of conversation I went back to the errands I was doing for the night, playing the computer. Turning my computer off I heard a motorbike out the front and figured that Jett had come over my house. Walking out the front I realized that it wasn’t just Jett but also his brother who brought his own motorbike. That’s the shit I’m going to be riding around on one day. One or the other, a car or a motorbike I will have for my first vehicle but I just don’t know which one. It’s a hard decision but I will probably go for the car first and then buy myself a motorbike during to be cost effective and for joy rides.

Jett and his brother were on their way to watch ‘Blade’ at Macarthur Square at 9:30 p.m. Figuring that Jett wasn’t going with Min-Su we played my computer, played ‘Sim Copter’ for about an hour and spoke a couple of words. Halfway through Jett’s stay I asked if we were still up for the beach tomorrow but dreaded was his answer as he told me that he couldn’t, he was taking Min-Su to work tomorrow. That was a bit of a disappointment, she has always made it to work without his help but I guess now that he’s tied down he needs to be with Min-Su more often. Keith rang me while Jett and Fred were over my house and asking if I wanted to come I was sort of backed into a corner to go along so I agreed. Placing some clothes on I told Jett that I was leaving in twenty minutes for the Catholic Club, he was cool with that. Needing a collared shirt I put on my black shirt, denim pants and sneakers, had my hair back in a ponytail (Which is starting to lose it’s fashion sense, at least in my mind) and then splashed some cologne on. Jett and his brother left before I did and as they were leaving I splashed some more cologne on and when Keith beeped at my house I was prepared.

None was in Keith’s car but himself so jumping in the front seat I figured we would pick up Ralf. This is when Keith told me that Shawn was also coming with us and I realized that Shawn wasn’t going into the City with Tatton to watch ‘Blade’. Rocking up to Ralf’s house I learnt that his parents bought a brand new Commodore and as I always knew, their parents old car was going to him. Keith showed me the boot and back of his car that he got replaced and when that was done I knocked on Ralf’s door. Lit up was his room so we figured he hadn’t heard the car and as his mum greeted me politely at the door and let me in I patted the dog (Which I made drastic fun of later) and made my way to Ralf’s room. Greeting me at the door I noticed Ralf putting on his shoes and cologne and the response from Ralf seeing me was of shock and surprise. Ralf never thought he would see the day that I would accompany them to the Catholic Club and he sat there uttering “Man, I can’t believe I’ve lived to see this day, I’m in shock.” Somewhat impatient at how long he was taking I made my way outside as Keith and I talked about driving to Lucas’s house later in the night. Trying to ease my worries about the Catholic Club and trying to tell me I would be fine we noticed Keith finally step out of his house.

Jumping back into the car, me into the back as Ralf wouldn’t fit we made our venture to pick up Shawn. This would be a good time to note that Keith was wearing his Hawaii shirt for another night and even though we didn’t start bagging him yet, he got his just deserts later in the night. Straight out of his house, Shawn wasn’t wasting much time as he jumped into the back with me. Greeting each other Shawn tried to use his belt but for the whole trip to Ingleburn he couldn’t get it from behind the seat. Keith almost hit a car that was already on a roundabout but it was lucky that he stopped in time. That would have been a bit ironic for Shawn, couldn’t get the seatbelt on and crashed.

Yes, our mission was to head for where Simon worked. Keith wanted to see him, to see if he wanted to come out for the night, Shawn had a demoniacal plan, something more sinister. “Shawn, it’s now one week and six days until you fuck Simon up,” I said and as we all laughed Shawn kept cussing. Sinister was his plans and all of us had something to do when we arrived at Pizza Hut in Ingleburn. Simon was on till close but he was out on a delivery so we all had fun. Daffa was at the doors of Pizza Hut on his mobile phone and Shawn pointed out the latest guy that’s been going out and fucking Phoenix, like I care. While all of us were whispering simultaneously and repeatedly one after the other we grabbed everyone’s attention that was walking past. Daffa was looking our way and deciding to be cheeky Ralf got out his red laser light and shun it at Daffa’s face and the guy that’s going out with Phoenix, or was. They got pissed off but seeing meaty Ralf in the front seat and the rest of us huddled closely in the back, none of them lifted a finger.

Simon showed up in his car and parked right in front of us a couple of minutes after our fun. Shining the light at him he walked over to our car and as we talked to him, once again everyone had a part to play. Keith and Ralf were going to try and get Simon to bring out some free Pizza and I was sitting there as I usually do, mimicking everyone. Shawn was pissed off and repeatedly asked Simon when he was going to pay and if he had talked to his dad yet. Simon kept saying “Ask my dad, he’ll sort it out” but Shawn kept noting that Simon crashed the bike therefore he should be asking Simon. With a grinning smile on his face Simon just got out of his crouching position and walked over to his car. That was the dogs way to leave his entrance, knowing he was wrong and he owed Shawn $2000 for crashing his bike. Shawn was pissed off and made us laugh by saying “The day count has gone down by six days now, it’s now one week and then he’s gone.” Suggesting that he beats into Simon, one dollar for every punch he endured from Shawn’s fist, Shawn insisted that money was the best alternative and if that didn’t happen, Simon’s downfall would be the next.
