Home Early From Subway
Tonight isn’t as late as a usual night of literature but I give many thanks to my coming home early from ‘Subway’. Where I did get to see Briony again and hold open the door for her she seems to be falling into a pattern of having to leave when I arrive. Last time that we were at ‘Subway’ Briony left her shift minutes after I arrived and this time around it wasn’t that much different.
Today I could consider a bit of old and new events where within that boon of besotted chronology I might consider a bit of fate. However, in spite of a lacking in much ado in which I did not feel in passing, it was there and it makes for a good all-round storyline today.
A Mystery Call From the City
My waking up today came around 3:00 p.m. but as I was still resting on the ground and getting accustomed to my waking up I received a call. Still half dazed the girl on the phone answered “Hi Tony, how are you” and then paused for a little while. Groggy in the voice I wondered who she was but in the back of my mind her voice clicked.
“Do you know who I am,” she asked and as I still in a small daze told her no I asked her to enlighten me. “Remember, you gave me your number in the City a while ago and you told me to call you,” she uttered and as she did I realized her voice was as obnoxiously high and raw that it must have been Lorna from a little while back.
Going along with the flow for a couple more questions I finally remarked “This is Lorna or Isla isn’t it” and as she stumbled on her words to speak “Nope, who are they” I knew that it was one of them. Having a little giggle she quickly put the phone down and then someone else came on the phone. My hunch was right and as Isla got on the phone I knew that my hunch was correct.
Isla Gets Persuasive
When last I spoke to them we both made an agreement not to chat to each other but I just knew in my mind that they couldn’t resist and they would be trouble. However, when Isla started speaking to me she talked in a pleasant tone and she didn’t hesitate to label herself as the more subdued talker.
“You do like talking to me don’t you,” she uttered and favorably I did answer “I would rather talk to you than Lorna, you have more composure”. Still lying on the floor and relaxing myself Isla kept asking me little persuasive questions like ‘Do you still like me’ and ‘What would you do if I came over’.
From there sprout her bid to get my address so that she could come over my house but I was a bit smarter to believe someone who tried telling me she was 14 years old, she had just turned 15 three weeks ago and our last conversation was almost a month ago. Isla tried to make me believe that our last conversation was a couple of weeks ago and I was puzzled at first but when I checked my diary after the conversation it turned out to be ten nights ago.
There was a part in our conversation where Isla told me that she was going to ring up a guy called Rupert who had dogged her and that’s all she was saying. Lorna came back on the phone to be loud as usual and there was another girl there whom I think was called Annika. As usual they were listening on two phones throughout our conversation and when one phone was hung up I was just speaking with Isla.
However, someone walked to the phone and hung up on Isla but it did not hang up on me, it just went silent. Knowing that it would be ringing on their end because they didn’t hang up the phone properly I didn’t hang up but rather prepared myself for a nasty gag.
Pretending to Be Rupert
When Isla picked up after a couple of rings on her phone she yelled out “Hello, who’s this is it Tony”. When I told her that I wasn’t Tony and that I was Rupert she started going off at me, something I hadn’t heard until then. Playing the bad boy Rupert’s part was great and as she went off at me I had a go at her. The squabble only lasted for an escalated thirty seconds before I gave up my real identity but what’s so funny is that she couldn’t pick my voice from this Rupert guy.
Threats and a Trap
When we finally started speaking again and Isla’s blood pressure had gone down from thinking about Rupert she told me how my joke was cruel. “If you were here right now I would rip your balls off” she shouted and as I remarked “Well as long as everything else is fine” she uttered “Nah, I’d bite your dick off too”.
Isla as usual subdued herself and then they tried to tell me a whopper of a lie, that Isla was 14 years old and that she had just turned 15. “Pedophile” was the word continually screamed out by Annika on the other line but I shoved it right back at her as I haven’t touched any of them yet and I don’t know if I will ever want to.
Isla who was asking for my number earlier on obliged to come over to my house (First with friends and then alone) later in the night but I felt a trap looming and I done nothing. With Rupert fresh on her mind and my knowing that he didn’t go over to Lorna’s house when the both of them asked him to she wanted to get off the phone soon, to blow him up.
Our conversation must have lasted for a clean half an hour and when she hung up the phone she was polite enough to say “I’m going now but I might or might not call you back, I’m not sure yet”. Isla supposedly had to leave to baby-sit which would be plausible, as she didn’t call me back.
The day that Isla or Lorna call me back will only be around the corner since it didn’t even take them a fortnight to call again. Next time around if Isla who is decent looking wants to get a little more closer she’s going to have to give me her home number or call me when she is alone. Only then will I be able to talk my word with her and be without interruptions of people whispering in her ear or shrouding the phone for hushed tones.
Music and Friday Plans
With the conclusion of our phone call I had myself a shower and then coming back I started listening to some good old music. When the clock reached 4:00 p.m. I gave Jett a ring so to see what time and day we were headed but as he was still working he asked me to ring back later. Calling back at 4:45 p.m. after some more calming music he was on the train.
The only thing he told me before the line cut off was that we were leaving at 8:30 p.m. on Friday night. For the next couple of hours I listened to more music and then watched television and the news for Kosovo. Grabbing the Advertiser and the Chronicle that weren’t delivered last week I perused through them for jobs. Some time later at 6:00 p.m. Jett called me back just to make clear the gossip for Friday night and to whom was going.
Oh man, I’ve got everyone as pumped as I am for Friday night and for the hopes that I might see Saskia, that will be the surprise of the night. Having a scrape of money left I was thinking of buying film for the camera and getting it developed when money starts flowing back in but I’m not sure if I want to take the camera with me.
What should I wear for the night strikes another question in my mind. Should I wear casually as we won’t be doing anything else or should I dress up incase we head to a nightclub. All this I gather will be sorted out on Friday night.
Thinking of Lyssa
When my night was truly slowing down in terms of getting ready for this Diary I received a call at 9:15 p.m. Back before Lyssa and I had our big argument I would have gathered it was her calling me but since we have stopped talking I held her up to her word. I gather that my leaving her to fend for herself in Campbelltown really pissed her off but I don’t think her anger was as great as mine for being used and then abused later on.
It has been a fair time that Lyssa has called me now and I can imagine two possible scenarios for her as mine hasn’t changed. Either she’s looking at those old photos more frequently or she has completely turned off from me as shown by her phone calls. No more have we an erratic relationship of sparse sexuality but what we should have had once we broke up, peace of mind.
There has not been a day gone by where I have missed our conversations but tonight I did remember a good deed of Lyssa’s from the past. When Lyssa actually done things for me without a string attached I remember the cake she baked for my birthday and thinking upon what it would have meant to make that cake for me, I show great pride and gratitude for her gift.
It makes me feel proud to look back upon that moment but then when I realize that those moments are so far and few, I am brought back to harsh realities. As lost as these years, time has with our breaking up diminished Lyssa’s worth piecemeal. Indeed, I would have been this stubborn not to call Lyssa in the past but I would have felt the desire to call for faith’s sake.
Now the only remorse I feel is the pity I show in her mistreatment. That it doesn’t have to be so but despite the commotion, the promises and words, we are just a passive wind that does not care to blow in each other’s direction.
Off to Subway With Simon
Getting back now to my phone call, it turned out to be Keith. “Do you want to head out to Subway” he asked and having nothing to do at the time I obliged. Within minutes I was dressed and he made his way to my house, Simon was driving.
Jumping in the back seat with Shawn and bringing along my cards I asked Simon to drive to Tatton’s house so that I could get my jacket from his car. It was another cold night and I didn’t want to be stuck without it despite not needing it. As I gathered when Keith and I got out and chatted with Tatton he didn’t want to come out so I just took my jacket and off we were. Heading straight to ‘Subway’ after that Simon was driving like a maniac again, almost clipping corners and going around bends fairly fast. When we finally arrived there was Briony doing the bins and for the first time in a while I noticed that little skinny guy.
Two Gaytimes and a Budget
Having ourselves a seat everyone bought themselves something to eat before we began playing and feeling hungry myself I bought two ice-creams later on in the night. Having a taste frenzy when I eat a ‘Gaytime’ ice-cream I thought to buy two, they filled me up. Considering I’m on a tighter budget now that money has been taken from my Credit Card for yearly arrears I should be tighter still but I was hungry, I am human.
Seeing that I had money Keith tried once more to have me buy chips for the group but as I persistently said no he confessed that he only wanted to see me do it. Out of the blue Keith also decided to inform me that he no longer gets money from the Eftpos at his work because a guy has fixed the problem. That I feel is because I keep putting shit on Keith whenever I can, now he wants it all dropped I guess.
Black Bitch Tempers
Our night was considerable at ‘Subway’ and when we started playing ‘Black Bitch’ I knew tempers were going to flare. The way it usually happens is that Simon gets upset when he’s losing and Keith gets upset because he’s in the middle and the both of them have an argument. ‘Black Bitch’ is the game we now play to get everyone excitable and rowdy but I don’t argue, I only tease and mock.
Shawn on the other hand just mocks with his card antics and laughs at my teasing while the other two just pack the brunt of it all. Being President for a couple of rounds I was only in dunce once and Keith never got to be President. Our night ended just after midnight because Keith was whinging about wanting to head home to get some sleep.
