June 16, 2026. Late night into the next morning.
The idea
I had a new idea for an audio recorder to run alongside the speech to text recognition in the voice set pop-up. I ran that through Claude and it said it was possible, so I asked it to help build that out.
Any time I go to the gym and speak into my phone, it will save that audio temporarily for a day, stitch it into one file, and I’ll be able to download it. That will be super cool if it works.
One works, then the other
Before sleep I was trying to get the audio to save to MP3 alongside the speech to text. The speech to text would work but the audio would not. It would show the box where the audio is supposed to appear, with no audio being saved.
Claude AI coded in some toasts to show exactly what was happening, and the toasts showed the audio feature was failing to load. It then added a delay so recording would start after you’d pressed the button.
After three or four updates I installed the APK, and it worked. The audio worked. But now the speech to text recognition was not working. I could record my voice, but no text showed up to log my gym session. I need both of them to work alongside each other, and that’s what I’m going to keep working on.
App Features Log: June 16, 2026
- Voice memo recorder added to the voice set pop-up
- Diagnostic toasts for microphone capture errors
- Still open: audio recording and speech to text block each other
