In Line With Min-Su

Jett made his way to the food counter as I stood with Min-Su in line quite comfortably chatting away in my off-hand humor. Soon enough, Jett joined us as did Maddox and allowing Min-Su to buy her ticket first, I used my concession card for mine. Raising the topic of who paid for her ticket before Jett arrived she uttered “He hasn’t offered yet but I don’t care, when he does it’s good but when he doesn’t, it doesn’t matter”.

Obliging to her philosophy, we made our way into the cinema, scrubbing out the idea of heading back for a refund on the tickets as they were all ripped in half on the way up. Stubs were no good to us as we made our way past the lounging seats in the middle of the room where the walkway is. Traveling the length of that walkway to the other side of the room, the cinema was starting to pack in so we chose the seats on the left hand side.

Jett Pulls His Pranks

Awaiting the curtains to draw back, Jett headed downstairs to buy some more food to which I joked around with Min-Su and when it was Min-Su’s turn to head downstairs Jett pulled his usual prankster ploys. It’s good to know that Min-Su isn’t taming Jett considerably to which she’s still allowing him to unleash his boyish pranks. Jett wouldn’t be himself if he wasn’t out-there and unpredictable to his next caper. It’s also good to find that Jett doesn’t tie down Min-Su in any way to which she is herself.

You see, I didn’t down Lyssa at all but I ended up tying myself down when it came to Lyssa’s needs and pleads. I pushed myself out of my former charisma figuring that I needed the relationship more than I needed to hang onto my mettle and what made me who I was back then. Practically giving up my life and losing Lyssa’s interest in the process to the wake of relationship’s perfection, I’m glad Min-Su and Jett haven’t fallen into the same vile trap.

Two Spare Seats

As the curtains drew back and the lights for the movie began, my eyes were attuned to many another objects. Glancing down the causeway at the people who were still walking in, I noticed that there weren’t much seats left and a couple were eyeing our seats. Being five seats in our row on the left, Maddox sitting in the corner and me one seat away from the other side, there were two spaces between us to which we were hogging the whole five seats.

At first glance of the girl she looked decent and what’s more, she looked drawn to my direction as she pointed to the seats around us. Being with what seemed to be her boyfriend, from the onset, I felt like she chose the seats next to me not because they were readily available but because she was interested in me and this would have been her inconspicuous way of sitting next to me.

Seeing these laws of Murphy unfold before me, as the both of them headed over to our section I was polite enough to ask “Did you want me to move across one”. Granting them seats next to each other as I moved closer to Maddox’ direction, I decided onto to move one spot across to which I figured the girl would be grateful after all, she did maneuver around her boyfriend to sit next to me.

This girl’s boyfriend kind of reminded me of Pari but a surfer type. Showing the same passive gritting of his teeth as she sat next to me, you could see he was uncomfortable in his position, deciding to be cool with his attention seeking exploits. Placing his feet up on the seat, his comfort was to be an issue through the night as was his envious jealousy which played a vital role in her emotional outburst.

A Jealous Boyfriend

Unable to see the subliminal ways he was trying to put her straight, he ended up making a big mess of the situation because he couldn’t trust his girlfriend and he was jealous. From what I could see upon our onset of joining together, the guy looked like he was a two or three week old boyfriend. The reason I say this is because if she had been going out with him for a year or two, she wouldn’t have looked so obvious in my mind of choosing to sit next to me so I could steal all the limelight from her boyfriend.

I mean, what do you think in your mind when her boyfriend hesitates to put his hand on hers. I figured that it would have been because he’d just started going out with her or he was wary to do so, knowing that she probably had favorable intentions for me. What surprised me is when at most he did take the plunge, trying to coax her into holding his hand, she would usually just sit there still, pretending that his hand wasn’t even there.

This gave me the impression that she was thinking “Don’t touch me, this guy next to me might be looking and thinking we’re together or something”. Obviously, this made the guy uncomfortable with his situation and the situation of his girlfriend as she repeatedly tried to shy away his hand to which she would try fishing it back upon any signs that he was getting frustrated. The lass didn’t want me to lose interest but despite her having blonde hair and looking decent from what I could see, I had done just that.

Subliminal Moves

Figuring that I didn’t want to come in between the both of them, I stopped my subliminal heightening of awareness by paling off our touching shoulders and giving our aura some breathing space. When best on the train and in a place where I want a girl to wander curiously through her mind, I tend to purposefully try and space my legs or relax my shoulders so that part of my body would be touching the girls sitting next to me.

I am very aware of what part of my body touches someone else and in that same breath, I hope that the girl is noticing my subtle messages and thinking the same curious thoughts in her head. I keep thinking to myself “Alright, our legs are touching” trying to shift a touch more on the next bend so that our legs or arms could touch all the more.

It is with these subliminal moves that I try and create a further stir in a girl’s mind. Knowing that a girl would probably notice me when I decided to sit next to them or when a girl sits next to me, I believe that they sit there for the hope that something will be created and therefore, I set out to subliminally create it.

The same scenario was in place at the movies where I would nudge my shoulder around with the premise that I am getting comfortable but in reality, to stir the already stirring thoughts of the girl. However, as I could see they were having trouble, my inadvertently flirtatious ways stopped. Don’t get me wrong though, I was only creating that flirtatious friction because she was abiding by it but after I had sensed too much uncomfortable vibes from her partner, I pause and stopped.

Maltesers All Round

Apart from her making the obvious ploy to sit next to us, the other reason I thought she started to get interested in me is by the attitude she perceived me to have, the attitude I yearn to create. Being polite enough to move over for them, as Maddox was sharing out the Maltesers I turned to her and asked if she would like some. Smiling with laughter at my request she said she was alright.

Noting that it was National Kindness week much to more of her smiles, I included her boyfriend in the frame as I made her ask him if he wanted some Maltesers. Obviously he would have been spitefully intrigued as to what we were talking about and seeing a chuckle of anxiety spread across his face, he knew that I was trying to place the obvious smooth moves over his girlfriend, he just couldn’t do anything about it without creating tension.

Trying to look as unique as possible, when most I watched the movie I loosely wove my fingers together as if in prayer, my elbows affixed upon the hand parts. Trying my best to keep my eyes on the screen and make it seem like I wasn’t interested, I could sense her eyes wandering, looking at me from their corners in intrigue. However, I kept with my charade despite my interest and if she didn’t have a man by her side, conversation would have definitely sparked.

She Storms Out

There came the turning point of their night that was building for some more than an hour. You could see that he was trying to grab her hand on occasion so that she would place it on his leg or something but she kept pulling it back and just giggling. Unfortunately, he probably kept getting frustrated to which he was always whispering to her to which she finally just jumped up exclaiming “Oh God, you’re horrible” and rushing out. Trying to coax her into staying in those biding seconds, he looked lowly and defeated as she ran to the exit, looking like she had just started to cry.

It was one of those runs where you’re at your formal and your dress falls down, you’re obviously shattered. Figuring that he would follow after her any second, he done the exact opposite and stuck around. Figuring that he was probably thinking she would eventually come back because she always does, I ruled out the idea of heading down there and cheering her up myself because seeing me leave would make him inanely jealous. Therefore, I stuck around and watched the movie with this eerie discomforting air about us.

Thinking he was being slack, within a couple of minutes she walked back in and plumped herself down next to him, looking beaten at her game. I’d love to know what he’d said that was so horrible but I figured that he obviously referred to me in some way, maybe saying “Look, if you want to hold his hand just do it”. That would explain his trying to keep it all on the down-low, wishing that she’d never jumped up and made a public interest out of him.

From this moment forth, the girl looked over at me frequently. I kept thinking that at any second she was going to ask me for my number out of spite, hoping that she could walk out of there under my arm instead of his. However, there was no such circumstance and the both of them sat relatively at ease for the rest of the movie. Somehow I don’t think they enjoyed their movie though as they would have had too much constant thought to even realize the storyline.

Walking Back to the Car

When the movie had concluded we all headed out and as we were just about to leave, Maddox noted to Jett how the girl next to me was showing more interest in me than her boyfriend. Therefore, I wasn’t alone on my assumption and it was so obvious that even Maddox could see the turnout of events from his little corner of elaboration. Heading straight for the car, I noticed the girl heading to their car up the far end of the carpark and as she kept looking back, I knew that she was looking around to see what I looked like in light.

My aspirations were somewhat put in place as I realized that one last long glance at each other as we were standing up wasn’t the telling truth of her figure. Being a touch shorter than me, you could say she would have been fine had she not have had a different lower body. You see, she was skinny in the top half but she had a rump and fattened legs down the bottom which made her look like Estella in her bad days of fighting the fat.

Again, she looked like she wanted to be around me instead of her boyfriend but as I was rushed into Jett’s car, that whole idea was left with the dust of the car’s tracks. The only other remembrance on our quick drive home is Jett winding down the window as we exited the carpark to mock some Indian security guy with one of those mops on his head. “Go catch a taxi and grab me some curry” he barked as he wound down the window, well something like that.

Twelve Pages Later

The rest of my Friday night you already know as I headed back home around 11:00 p.m. to which I started writing amongst these pages. Sadly, as my night is now over and the time itself is 11:15 p.m., I shall get myself some sleep and rest these lethargic eyelids. Having no chance on recreating the events of late Saturday, I can only hope that tomorrow will yield that episode as well as at least half of Sunday’s durable day of skirmish.

Twelve pages on the conclusion of Friday after work, what a depiction. Give me time and I shall grant you greater knowledge on those hands. Give me such a deadline and I shall always exceed such an expectancy. These are the woes of my memoirs, the perils of these pages and the solvency owed to the debt of my life…
