Hiding Behind Colored Glasses

The talk of outfits does bring me to the next topic of conversation, my new favor towards the trend of colored glasses. This craze to fashion has been looming on my mind for quite a while now, maybe for the past two to three months or more or less, every since I’ve started working. There is an old adage that notes how glasses really do add a new dimension of confidence to one that is otherwise lacking. This adage holds truth as with the glasses on, I did feel a boost of confidence.

Despite the fact that the yellow lens glasses attracted people to look at me more, I felt a sense of security behind the glasses, as if my image was being detained from impurities that would otherwise come with a self-conscious attitude. Without the glasses I felt less like an individual but once those glasses were donned there was more of a sense that I could just reach out and do what normally wouldn’t be done of me. The glasses took away my sensitivity, as if I was almost hiding myself from scrutinizing eyes.

Therefore, my conclusion is that glasses are better for confidence but as this fashion statement also adds a touch of sex appeal, I feel that they are the easy way out of the hard sale. Glasses do subtract when they do add to such dimensions and as they are fashion I treat them so. However, just think of all the fashion accessories I will have created upon myself in the future. Starting with colored glasses, I will have braided hair, probable blonde streaks, contact lenses and I’ve already got a club chain, a beret and a bucket hat.

The Road To Club Clothes

For as far as I can remember back into my teens, ever since I was in the upper years of high school, I’ve always known I would eventually make the transition to clubbing apparel. There has always been an air about me that I think people see in which I was always dressed ragged but I looked as if I could fit the finest of trends. People could always see that inner strength in me, that will to succeed, to survive, to proceed.

These clothes that I have only started to wear now in which it all initially started from Lyssa helping me buy my first item of club clothing, it has been my aspiration for the latter part of my life. The reason it has taken me so long to make the transition is because I’ve lived with poverty for most of my life and it has always been daunting to think of the consequences. When I started thinking about the transition I kept getting put off by the fact that my drastic change away from the trend of the pack would cause controversy and sudden ridicule.

As much as I didn’t want people to talk about me enviously behind my back I also wanted to buy a bunch of clubbing clothes at once. If I was to make a transition I didn’t want it to be slow and I feared the first bold move to finally decide upon buying clothes. I guess my walks into Hound Dog with Lyssa back in the day enticed me to love those clothes and I gather those were the days that prepared me for the comfort I do sustain within these quarters.

Back in the day, when I started to put effort of thought into these ideas, it wasn’t a matter of “Will I fit into these trends” but indeed a matter of “When will I fit into these trends”. Thanks to Lyssa and Christmas, I was helped along to make the first bold step of buying club clothes and all of a sudden, heading out to clubs was all the more enjoyable. Now I could be much more comfortable in my new fashionable style than what clothes I was wearing, barely getting into joints.

However, my fear of overuse came true with my first outfit, deciding not to go out on occasions because I was self-conscious that people would keep thinking I wore the same outfit which was true. That is the reason why I wanted to first have money so I could buy a stream of club clothes but I am grateful for being started into this new fashionable trend that I so wanted to be a part of. And, I did get pestered and ridiculed for stepping away from the trend.

For a while I received cynical remarks of looking gay and receiving snide comments in such a manner but in time, they did die down. The rivalry had subsided within everyone’s envy and only recently with my new job has people’s thoughts changed. Buying these clothes did make me an outcast to normality and a butt of everyone gay jokes but stranger things have happened with my converting Shawn to such revelry. Now my buying women’s shoes that could possibly be unisex doesn’t even kick a fuss as people have learnt to accept my drastic change from pauper to prosperity.

A Stranger Needs Signing In

Making our journey to the Catholic Club after seven pages of homeward antics, I shall place description upon description. Beginning our night, as we stepped out of the car and headed towards the front doors we were pulled aside by a surfie looking guy pleading that we sign him in. Spinning a story that his friends were already in there and that he only needed a member to sign him in Tyler showed no care after his heeded few seconds.

Looking completely different to how Tyler and I were dressed, we walked together holding small conversation and not able to make it more obvious, he uttered “He’s signing me in”, looking at the bouncer and pointing at Tyler. To make matters more for this fruitcake, he headed over to the far book and as Tyler ushered him over our way so he could sign the same book he looked abstracted. “What an idiot”

I whispered to Tyler as we signed the books, urging me to hurry and skip some corners with my name. “Yeah I know” he responded, “Why didn’t he just come over here instead of looking suspicious heading over there”. Despite this little aversion to the night Tyler signed him in and as we were walking past the entry the guy told us his name and noted “I’ll buy you guys a drink later aye”. That was the last time we saw him in the night as we didn’t really care about free drinks.

Anders At The Bar

Being just me and Tyler at the Catholic Club but looking the fitting pair, we headed to ‘The Quiet Room’ up at the back near the pool tables hoping to find a seat. Taking a glance around at the whole of the Catholic Club we couldn’t find a decent place to sit outside of everyone and thought that to be the best option. First things were first though as we headed to the bar to buy drinks.

While there a surprise visitor graced both Tyler and I. Tapping me on the shoulder and sarcastically belching “Hey you, get out of the line” I turned around to find it was Anders. “What are you doing here” I asked, “You’re not eighteen yet are you”. “Not yet” Anders acknowledged as he stepped in line to grab himself a drink, “But I turn eighteen in three days”.

Around this time Tyler decided to head to the toilet and in the ten minutes that he disappeared to bury a log Anders and I got to chatting. In our gossip Anders did note how Jett has moved back with his mum as she couldn’t afford to live there by herself or something like that. Nevertheless, Jett is mostly living at Tamsen’s house now sleeping there some nights and some nights at home. Anders also said something about Jett eating them out of home which doesn’t sound too surprising a turnaround.

Drinks In The Quiet Room

Pausing around the bar for a couple of minutes as we allowed others to push in for a drink, we were preoccupied with conversation and getting accustomed to our surroundings. At no time did I feel uncomfortable at the Catholic Club and how it would be peculiar to note that I had a good time. This was probably because I was the one to plan it and therefore, I was feeling in the exact mood for the night as I felt the need to head out there. Anyway, after five minutes of chat and then Tyler heading back from the toilets he asked “Did you buy me my drink”.

Forgetting what alcohol he actually wanted I decided to wait for him to head back and as he slapped his head whilst advising me again the three of us waited in line and I bought the drinks. Buying myself an orange juice and watching Anders buy some blue tipped alcohol the three of us looked around for an available seating but couldn’t find one out in the general domain. This large area would have been great to look around at beautiful girls but we sought out ‘The Quiet Room’, still having an efficiency of bustling women.

Seating ourselves closest to the front entrance and to the right of the doors the three of us sat down ready for our laid back attitudes to unfold. Tyler sat himself back in his chair with his pretentious air about him, leaving a presumptuous look upon his face as he stared into oblivion. Anders was more relaxed and uncaring on the image he had to uphold and I was in the middle of both of them. In one area, I wanted to maintain a certain image of superiority in my mood, keeping that calm, stern and uncaring look on my unwavering face.
