Restless After the Film

Saturday 9:34 p.m.

Could this be a sign of things to come, relaxed weekends that makes my curb to buy fashionable clothes seem passé. The movie that I viewed finished a good hour ago and for the last hour I’ve been piss farting around. Not having even turned on my television, once home from a decent movie that left too much unfinished and out in the open, I had a slight longing for additional entertainment. Somehow, just watching a movie and being around good friends wasn’t going to cut it for the rest of my night.

Even though I know I have much to write about as the clock ticks over into a new day, a new month and a new beginning, I still needed something additional, to preoccupy my mind into thinking “Yeah, I have to do all this for my memoirs but yeah, I have this to fall back on if I get bored”. Therefore, for the first pass of my night, memoirs it is and then when all is done, the reward is to watch the movie I hired tonight from Bradbury Shops.

Choosing a Video at Video Ezy

Being the second week in a row that I’ve sat at home alone with nothing to do but watch a rented movie, reverie finally caught up with my curiosity. There was some sort of stigma disillusioning such abstracted thoughts. This stigma of past, although hardly regarded as a blemish, had a thought in my mind. Whilst walking down to the shops the only thoughts that popped into my mind was about Lyssa, our conversation and my thoughts upon that.

When at Video Ezy I even asked the lady behind the counter if she could hand me a pen and paper in which I wrote down that one thought, soon to be mobilized to these pages. Even when I was looking around for a movie, the idea for the movie I came home with wasn’t even in my mind. ‘Saving Private Ralf’ was foremost on my mind but as they didn’t have that, I looked around for another blockbuster movie.

Seeing ‘Elizabeth’ and then thinking about the movie ‘Shakespeare in Love’ I felt a smooth roll to the uncanny dilemma I was about to face. ‘Romeo and Juliet’ seemed now to be the preferred movie on my mind but the only thing stopping me from watching this movie is the fact that Jewell and I never got to watch it together. There has been some strange field of submission when it comes to renting out this movie in the past, hoping that one day, Jewell and I will finally get our golden day to watch it together.

Although Jewell has seen it a dozen times, that day where she invited me over to her house just after our breaking up to watch Romeo and Juliet still sticks in my mind and until today, I have never broken that silent vow of watching this movie alone or with someone else. It would have almost seemed blasphemous to watch Romeo and Juliet with another woman but finally, from within my whim, I decided to rent it out tonight.

When I think of Romeo and Juliet, I think upon what Jewell and I could have had with the reality of our being so right for each other. We had poetry, amity of mind, our love for the same things, a connection between our thought, senses and our touch, like the silk of a thousand threads, woven with the spark of confused love. There is so much to these impartial pages that would shine verily unto the harmonious accord of our compatible lives, even till death in silence do us part.

Verdict on the Sequel

Jumping off a subject where I could unleash such tethered emotions to run rampant, let me firstly talk of the movie tonight. Being the much awaited sequel, I found there to be much contrast in the storyline between the soft Jake and bad Jake. The characters weren’t exploited fully and apart from a bad ending, everyone was left there trying to fill in the blanks themselves.

You’re supposed to start an epic movie like you’re already in the middle of the action but it seemed like they were back the front in causing all the chaos and questions at the end of the movie. They should have tied all ends at the end of the movie instead of keeping myself guessing or asking myself “Why did this have to happen, it had no point other than to fill a couple of minutes”.

Seats Down the Front

Apart from that, as Jett and Min-Su headed into the movies oblivious to Adam and I, we headed to ‘Fun n Games’ where Adam got two free games on a skateboarding simulation. Riding this around for a couple of minutes, we headed back to the movies and finding Jett sitting near the back with Min-Su, we also sat ourselves down in front of them. Walking straight in without having our tickets ripped, I advised the three of them that there was a chance we could get our money back but I didn’t want to be the one to pull it off.

Adam showed the interest and desire to head downstairs with all our tickets, figuring he had some sort of problem after a couple of minutes. However, as the movie just started he made his way back in and came up with the goods. Handing Jett his money, I didn’t think I was going to get mine but at the end of the night, he noted that he had my $10 and figuring I would go halves with him, he ended up trading in his ticket as well, good man…

Heading back out of the movies after an uncomfortable seating, we were rather pleased with the movie but more pleased to the fact that we didn’t have to pay our way in. Again, Jett the promiscuous darted off as he normally does in his charged walk down the stairs as soon as the movie was complete. Leaving Adam and I confused as to where he was when we headed down the stairs, we looked for him and Min-Su but couldn’t see them.

Figuring that Jett had already made haste to the car, we walked out there only to find our hunch correct. Min-Su was actually in the toilet as we all made our way to the car and from there, I was dropped off at home first. Adam was noting on our way home how he was buying a new car tomorrow from his friend’s dad’s cousin or something like that. Apparently, he buys cars cheaply, repairs them and then sells them off for a higher price.

Adam is actually buying this 84 model car for $700 in which I told him to head over my house tomorrow so I could take a picture of him with his new car. Trying to advise Jett who inadvertently changed the subject, Adam carried on with my conversation until Jett clicked on the storyline. Now that I’ve been dropped off and I’ve basically told the whole story of my Saturday and night, I shall begin with chronology.
