Getting the Mail Out
In the second portion of the day I continued with filing until 3:00 p.m. in which Najla and I were destined to get the mail out on time. For the past week or two the outgoing mail has always been late in which we had to take it downstairs. Disorderly would have been a great way to put it down but I’d rather think that we were swamped with a chaos of asks. Nevertheless, mail only took the both of us half an hour to complete as Najla used the typewriter to print out labels for the bigger envelopes.
Favored by a lack of piled up mail we were fortunate to finish at 3:30 p.m. in which the both of us concluded the day with a relaxing field day of filing. In the last hour of the day I actually began work on printing out the new brief lists. Looking off our other lists I separated David’s files to be briefed as well as adding Margot’s files to mine and Joselyn’s files for Najla’s list.
Unluckily, when Jana came over to my desk to note that I had to have an appraisal done I accidentally pressed the fast key that saved over my file. Small problem it was but I had created my list first, printed out the list and then on the same file I began with Najla’s file. When I pressed the save button I would have erased the previous save of my file which means I have to redo the list if ever there is an update which there will be.
A Call From Lyssa
To quickly notch up the appraisal in one paragraph as we are running low on time and patience in my sleepy mind, I have lost most of my will of creativity after my phone call with Lyssa tonight. You see, the time now is 11:10 p.m. and Lyssa called me at 9:45 p.m., just after ‘Ally Mcbeal’. We talked for an hour and from our argumentative conversation Lyssa quickly resigned to bed. It was a good hour of conversation in which I finally got to unleash the potency of my truth regarding Lyssa’s attitude on the phone.
In a nutshell, I think Lyssa to be a naïve pretentious when she talks of her having bouts with Naqi or heading to the movies with some guy she’s dating. Where she doesn’t actually mean to brag and doesn’t know it offends me and is naïve to the fact that I actually wouldn’t be the best person to ask about her guy troubles. The argument began when I asked if Naqi and Penelope were back together and instead of just saying yes, she decided to add some more color to a blemished picture.
Lyssa thought to note that Naqi and her were getting along fine now and there was no love lost between them nor any feeling of unease. Lyssa didn’t have to sidetrack to these little bonuses that created an envious spite in my mind and Lyssa should well have known that I hate hearing about Naqi but because she is naïve in her always telling tales, she was caught unaware. Anyway, I’ll speak more upon that subject when time permits for such chronology, until then, back to chronology.
Rating Myself
The appraisal was fairly straight forward as I relaxingly sat inside of Margot’s empty room for privacy reasons. Basically, Jana had a sheet in front of her that had a scale of one to twelve for different aspects of my work ability. Jana asked me how I should rate myself for each of the six different aspects of my work. “Don’t undervalue yourself” she added as I gave myself an eight for work performance, “Give yourself what you think you deserve”. Along with appearance, quality of work and a couple of others, I rated myself around an average of nine, giving myself seven for telephone and communication skills, noting that I wasn’t too confident yet.
There was a slight cough in my throat that would prove it from time to time and as much as I was comfortable with Jana and this appraisal, I was made uncomfortable by my building cough. There I would sit silent, wanting to cough but holding it back, making my sense of conscience all the more distraught when I have to let out a cough to clear my throat just before speaking. Anyway, the appraisal was finally completed by Jana who rated me with tens, superseding what I thought myself to be.
Hope of Extra Help
When all was done I headed back to have a chat with Najla who was next in line for an appraisal. “Watch out for her” sarcastically remarking, “She almost made me cry”. When Najla came back from her appraisal minutes later I was informed of a plan that would make our days at work more pleasant. Najla told me how she discussed with Jana the major workload we get and how the work for four Solicitors on two administration staff is just overbearing. “Yeah I’ve seen how you too are loaded with work”
Jana asked, promising that she will bring up the idea of hiring another person for administration duties. For the rest of our day at work Najla and I were excited about the new prospect, getting ahead of ourselves with sarcastic remarks. “We’ll give the person David’s filing” we joked but as the day ended and we headed to the station together we didn’t get ahead of ourselves. Heading home on the express train as per usual I decided to sit upon the first carriage, trying to totally avoid the presence of Xavier on the train.
Leaving Things Unfinished
That my friends is where I must again leave this entry tonight. If it hadn’t been for Lyssa calling me tonight I would have had an extra hour to spare but I must get myself some sleep now. Lucky I didn’t head to trivia tonight as I would have had no time at all to catch up on past events. All I have to do is get past the big lump of Saturday night at the Catholic Club and then at Chevy’s.
If I can do that tomorrow night then the rest of the weekend and my day at work should fall rightly into place. However, now with my conversation between Lyssa that took place tonight, that just might be another awkward uphill to face which won’t make my calibration of chronology any easier whence I start here tomorrow night. Always with the best of intentions, never with the best of results. That is the knowledge of these pages, to start with such expectancy but to finish with only a small portion of persistency complete…
