Squashed Keyboard Morning
Today my day began again at 5:45 a.m. but this time while I was jumping out of bed to quickly turn off the alarm I squashed my keyboard. Nevertheless, it hasn’t damaged any of the buttons so I fare well still. Having a shower and something small to eat I dressed myself and put on the tie that mum had done up nicely the night before and walked out of my warmed up room from half an hour of heating into the wintry morning dew. Today I was deciding whether or not to wear a jacket but I decided against it because I don’t have the shoes for it yet.
Therefore, with only seconds to spare I rushed out of the house and made my way for the bus stop with a minute or two left. Taking along the bag from ‘Blue’ again (As I will be until it breaks or I buy a proper bag) I headed to Campbelltown Station, jumped on the second carriage and headed for the City. That beautiful blonde wasn’t on the train, in fact, I haven’t seen her since Monday and I hope it wasn’t just a one off.
Evivocal Penelope
When reaching St. James I jumped to the other windows to see if Lyssa was jumping off and heading for the stairwell but all I could see was evivocal Penelope. – There you have another word created by me, evivocal. This new word was created for Penelope and simply means, fake and showy but in a gloating manner. In basis of speaking, a vocal person in a characteristic sense, showing off to no one but to make oneself feel haughty.
To simply explain my gesture of the word evivocal I shall explain Penelope’s actions. Usually, when people are jumping off the train in the morning they are tired and without animation. They walk straight and aimlessly just to get from A to B. However, here was Penelope that was walking with her shoulders swaying like she was showing off to herself and had to maintain her image of being a hard Lebanese woman even if she was a woman.
The way in which she was all bouncy at that time of the morning and in the way she lifted up her drink in such an egotistical ‘I love myself’ sort of attitude grants her the characteristic of being evivocal, vocal in character. What’s more, Lyssa wasn’t with her, she was by herself and yet she was acting out her macho and contemptuously overbearing haughtiness and yet, she is no one.
Part of the Group
Making my entry into the building around 8:30 a.m. I was early again and feel that I will be for some time more, maybe for the rest of my time with that company. First thing was first as I started with sorting out the mail. Whilst the mail was being done Tarni and I had some more bonding conversation and Fitzroy finally digressed from his disowning attributes to finally treat me more as a counterpart. No longer did I feel like the odd toe out, I was part of the group and elaborated upon such ascendancy.
Lunch arrived for me after I finished a brief all by myself, the whole shebang. Leaving at 12:30 p.m. I bought myself some Macdonald’s and headed again to Hyde Park where I enjoyed the exuberant sun and had a gloating time of extended freedom. It takes me twenty minutes to buy lunch and walk to Hyde Park, twenty minutes to eat with rest and then it takes me another twenty minutes to head back to work. If only that forty minutes could be better spent.
Befriending Kelsey
Heading back to work I got to talk to one of the blondes that works very close and in eye’s view of the administration section I am placed in. Her name was Kelsey and she reminded me of someone I knew from Campbelltown and probably is someone from that area as I think I’ve seen her before. When catching the lift upstairs I said hello to her downstairs and we sparked up a friendly conversation which carried on into the office. Deciding to head to the toilet I decided to befriend her again to ask her for her pass key which opens the doors.
This cemented some sort of work-relationship between the both of us, a couple down, a couple more to go. There are also a couple of other girls I’ve befriended at work as most of the Secretarial jobs are filled by women. There was Livia in whom her mum also works with us next to Kelsey’s desk and the three I work with are Tarni, Esme and Fitzroy. Then there’s the blonde girl near one of the photocopiers I like using, the blonde that I think has a thing for me (And Fitzroy tries to keep her away from me) and another girl around my age in which I borrowed a staple remover from.
In that she made the attempt to introduce herself to me and I used that same learning of her words to introduce myself to Kelsey downstairs at the elevators. There was also Joselyn whom I talked to near the end of the day and was one of the Solicitors. I misjudged her for a Secretary in which I felt like a dimwit but there was no harm done.
Fitzroy Steps In
The office is now not confided to one mutual area where I feel safe but now I feel safe to roam our part of the office which is HIH. I use most of the photocopiers now and soon I won’t be fearless to walk from one side of the office to the other where FAI are situated. In the day I even got to ring up the printers and do some Reception work (One call) for our administration department in which we have our own number.
However, to the jealousy part of Fitzroy and that blonde whom I think has a thing for me but is probably 24 years old. Today she came up to my office while it was only me and Fitzroy there, he was in the next booth on his desk. She bent down behind me and told me she was looking for some A4 envelopes without a plastic see through panel and just as I was about to comment on where they were Fitzroy shoved his way in and took over the situation.
As if he was inadvertently protecting his lustful deliberation he uttered “What are you looking for” and as she briefed him he found her the envelopes and she was on her way. From his mouth it almost sounded as if he was trying to usher her off quickly, not in haste but because he didn’t want her to spend too much time around me. It felt like he had a thing for her and started to get envious when she was around me so he decided to step in and be the man.
I’ve got nothing against Fitzroy when I say this because in truth, he is the crack of the office and to be honest I don’t even think the blonde has a thing for me but for chronologies sake, I have to write these things.
Home and the Centrelink Problem
Work finished at the normal time of 5:00 p.m. and leaving for Wynyard before the others I caught the second express train to Campbelltown and arrived to wait fifteen minutes for my bus. Heading home at 6:45 p.m. I started to work on some database produce. Until now I haven’t yet had a shower but I don’t really think I need one or have enough time to do so. The time is now 10:23 p.m. in which I will get to sleep very soon because today I tried to lightly nap on the train to the City.
My eyes weren’t tired once at work and I wasn’t too tired upon waking up but a good night’s sleep tonight won’t go astray. Who cares if tomorrow is Friday and the last working day before the weekend, I’m going to get a beneficial rest. Today I was finally called by ‘Mission Employment’ in which my mum told them I was in the City but not to what extent. They asked for me to ring tomorrow so I’m going to give them a call from the City and inform them that I am doing temp work, see if they bite the bait.
Mum told me she can’t lie to Centrelink and against my best constraints she told me that if they called tomorrow she had to tell them that I was working. Therefore, my job at lunchtime tomorrow will be so mightily important if I am to get one more worthy payment. I’m not cheating the system as I haven’t been paid yet so go figure…
Laid Back Philosophy
Just before I leave these pages now some more philosophy and thought for my enterprise. Firstly, my work atmosphere is laid back and more of a tight knit family without the tight knit. There is no ‘Constrictive’ in my work and there isn’t really anyone who can record and keep an eye on how much time I go out for lunch, how late I am in the mornings, how late I stay back or even how early I get there in the mornings.
The people are friendly which makes it all the more pleasing and it’s the fact that I can be laid back and still have a full day’s amount of work to do and to do it because I want to do it which gives me the strive. To add with some digression, my parents are now being more considerate financially, almost to a subliminal degree. It seems that every time I do something good for my life like get a girlfriend, go for a job interview or get a job, my parents are always there to support me financially.
This could just be their inadvertent way of paying me pocket money for doing my errands and congratulating me but I feel it has more to do with my parents always being there to support me in a financial rut, even if not so. Thirdly and lastly, if I had a band, be it alternative or jazz fusion, I would call it ‘Tiny Tom and the Happy Seals’, don’t ask me why…
