Studying Rhetorical Devices

Not much to report on today except that Simon came over for a couple of minutes but as I have created another Sonnet in these triple negative days of my Biorhythm Cycle it leads me to be somewhat cynical. Once again I turned my computer on at around 10:00 p.m. hoping to begin my days chronology but since there was none I thought to give my mind a working out.

Reading through the ‘Lost Play’ of ‘Edmund Ironside’ I wrote down plenty of rhetorical devises from the annotation, made examples for them and created a new file with this list. Now, when I create a Sonnet I will have better understanding of what each phrase, word, syllable, stress or expression means.

What I have used in my time but have only learnt the rhetorical name recently I shall be using more often now, it is antithesis. I have grown a great interest to puns and play on words in these newer days of the month so expect to see much black punning, vile comedy mixed with drama and an array of play on words.

Waking Up at Three Again

To speak now of my day, I woke up at 3:00 p.m. but considering that I have started writing late again tonight my getting to sleep will once again lead me to waking up late. Having set the alarm an hour and a half before waking up I had no hope of waking from the great sleep I was having.

When I did actually wake up I was amazed to find that I was dreaming of writing poetry and what’s more, the two lines in my dream were amazing. Shame it was that I didn’t remember the two lines but I did remember the key pun involving the words mettle and metal. To my knowledge it had something to do with wounding one’s mettle with metal but it doesn’t matter as I used a play on words regarding this same pun in my latest Sonnet.

Credit Card Trouble

Having a list of things to do in the morning I called up the Library to rebook what was due and when that was done I fixed my business with paying the telephone via the phone. Calling up the Credit Card Company I asked them what the problem was with lesser money in my account and they told me that my annual fee was due. How bad a time this did fall upon me.

Now I have to take money from my heading to the Gym and buying FHM for this month so I had better hope that this little flick with Keith giving me a separation certificate works. The last thing I tried to do was to ring my old work ‘Meco and McCallum’ to ask for some nightshift work but I couldn’t get through on the old number.

A Sonnet Without Zest

When the sudden business was finished at the start of my day I had something quick to eat and then made my way outside to collect some sun. However, I again felt the need to sleep and so I did waking myself up at 5:30 p.m. For the rest of the night I did watch television, have something to eat and have myself a shower where after that the remnants of my poetry began to sprout.

After some collective reading I began to write the newest Sonnet in these here pages. Let me just note that it was a hard Sonnet to complete and although it sounds great and means much I do not throw much zest towards it but towards the wind. It lacks the depth that I wish out of my Sonnets despite it being full of new depth. It lacks structure although it is finely structured. I feel that I lack in enthusiasm for this Sonnet because the last couplet was so hard attained but enthusiasm overall I do show for this Sonnet.

A Whisper at the Door

Nearing the completion of my Sonnet I heard a car out the front and as the engine turned off as quickly as it arrived I knew it wasn’t Keith. Hoping that it was just someone across the street I waited with patience and in silence. Knowing that I couldn’t escape the truth of someone coming for me I began to jump up and as I did I heard Simon’s voice whispering my name. Making my way to the door my first words were “You don’t want me to go out do you” in a puzzled way but his trip to my house was wholly just to visit.

For the short ten minutes that he was over my house we talked rather sporadically and on much topics but Jett’s Eros Theatre night sprouted up as our main topic of conversation. Simon now thinks he can make it on Saturday night and I just hope that Jett won’t be upset if he is invited. Tomorrow I will call Jett to see when it is all going down and tomorrow night Simon told me that he would be coming over for the news. Knowing that he had caught me in the middle of writing a Sonnet he upped and left and with that I was back to my thoughts.

Why I Hide My Poetry

The actual Sonnet that I was writing was left in fragments on the computer screen because I don’t see Simon as a threat of mockery. Anyone else apart from Jett I would consider them to look at my poetry and mock it or think obtrusive thoughts in their minds because they just can’t grasp the fact that I am a poet.

As people would make fun of guys who shave and call them gay because they don’t understand, so to will my friends mock me because they do not understand or appreciate poetry. You do mock one that ruffles its feathers but when they are still so to is your tongue.

Awkward Around Women

Now with that short chronology out of the way I will in the next paragraph consider depicting the Sonnet before this newest design. However, I am compelled to speak about my uncomfortable nature around women.

When it comes to cracking onto girls I don’t feel comfortable doing so around my friends. Well, the same people that would tend to mock my poetical flair are the same people that I would not feel comfortable around, my acquaintances. The fear that they will mock me or scorn me in some way keeps me from doing so and on top of that, I don’t to reap rejection in front of them.

Yet, give me a night where there is a girl and just myself and I will be just as insecure as any other circumstance. This would be so because I would not have the same confidence building effect of my friends being around. With friends I have a mental boost and I know she won’t think me some loser for being a loner while talking to her. To sooner be asked places price on asking as confidence comes last and never lasting,
