A Spider Web Trap
Now the time we spent at Tatton’s house (Despite it being nothing to add in remarking conversation) does have an element worth reciting. Making our way to his house I noticed a spider web hanging off a tree connecting to the ground. It was fairly large and right in the middle was a fairly large spider with a huge backside. It seemed as if the web was connected to the curb of the road and a branch in a relatively tall tree that was also very close to the curb. Directing Ralf to park right next to the spider web where the front passenger window would be within inches of reach, he done just that.
Tatton made his way out and turning off the car lights we hoped we could pull the same practical joke on him as we did to Keith. The good part was that Tatton walked right up towards the car not noticing the web at all. The hilarious part was when Tatton went to kneel down next to the car and when poking his head forward towards the window, he got precariously closer and closer to the spider in the middle of the web.
Tatton’s nose was escalating closer and closer to the spider and if he didn’t notice the web in the last second and pull out in a frenzied panic the spider would have been crawling up his nose and stinging his eyelid. Tatton barreled over backwards as he just touched the spider web and as he regained his composure the spider’s web was diminished and the spider had disappeared. It was seconds before we spotted the spider once again and as he climbed back up the tree, Jett continued to spit at it getting brutally close.
Racing Cars to Wollongong
Once all the laughter was over and Tatton humbly kept to himself, Keith was upon us. As he arrived I jumped back in the car and Tatton walked over into Keith’s car. From there we drove to Shawn’s house and Keith was acting shifty in his driving style as if he didn’t want to pick up Shawn but Shawn eventually jumped in his car. Once everyone was accounted for the trip was equipped and destined for Wollongong. The trip there was wrought (for lack of a better word) with frustration and comedic actions.
For one, Keith loved being the one in the front and every time Ralf would put his foot down slightly and get in front of him by a length or two he would have to show his authority and gun it a couple of hundred meters. The three of us were cackling in the car as Ralf kept provoking him time and time again. Ralf was rather talkative in the car and as Jett was sitting in the front and me in the back I noticed a look of sudden relief on Jett’s face when the music came on. It’s either Ralf talking or the music doing it for him. I’d rather the music.
Silent Standoff at the Car Park
Making our way into the heart of Wollongong where the Novotel and North Beach are, we made our way to the car park there. Keith was still in the front and the battle for control between the two was funny to watch. Keith kept driving as Ralf pulled into the car park and parked his car. Up the street you would hear Keith beeping his anger but all we could do was laugh with Ralf. As we parked I couldn’t wait to relieve myself.
Soon after Keith made his way to park the car and as he did there was a dimming silence that encompassed the all of which we were. This I believe was for the reason that we were all playing ‘I wanna be first’ on the road and there was no doubt that Keith, Shawn and Tatton were bitching as much about us as we were about them. For that reason there was an animosity towards the people from the other car and they felt the same about us.
There was something that they talked about that we didn’t know and that’s what made the eerie silence and contented keeping to themselves and their car groups, like mental standoffs. Later in the night I realized what it was as we all sat around doing nothing near the entrance to Novotel and Splashes. It became evident when Keith informed us that they were thinking of heading to the City and it was probably also a bid to get the three of us jealous on top of the fact that they wanted us to break faith with Ralf, but that didn’t work.
Keith was trying to take leadership into his own hands but of course, that didn’t happen because for one, he doesn’t like driving his car and another, Keith didn’t want to go alone as he had no night makers. By that I mean that neither Tatton nor Shawn (Although he would have been the better alternative) would have come up with much to do that includes excitement. Their night would be doomed without the three thinkers and the three party animals that we had been made out to be.
Hotel Corridor Mischief
Jett and I decided to make our own fun in Wollongong as everyone was just sitting around plotting separating thoughts and thinking baneful actions to make our night the opposite of what we wanted it to be. Heading into the Novotel we done what always has to be done when in Wollongong, which is to cause havoc in hotel room corridors. Making our way past the front reception and noticing the swarm of lovely looking and sexily clad females eating their divine meals, we calmly walked to the elevators.
Now I think this was Jett’s first time with me in Novotel and despite it only being us two, we made a deal of it. The first floor we approached with hotel rooms wasn’t that much of a deal, as Jett held the elevator doors open for me to just knock on a door. The second level was pretty much the same but this time I put a chair on the door, you know, old school stuff. Then for our finale we made our way to the second most highest floor where the both of us jumped out.
My plan was for Jett to head down one section of the corridor and I in the opposite direction and the first person to reach the end starts screaming, knocking and running down the corridor. I was the first person to hear my voice and also the one that had to walk the farthest and as I made my way back Jett was already there pressing the buttons which opened the elevator instantaneously. Jett either didn’t go all the way or he was a very fast runner, either way his heart was pumping just as much as mine was. That was basically it, until we made our way downstairs and then back out to where everyone was sitting.
A Ledge Above the Beach
The only people left sitting were Keith and Ralf. The other two got something to eat. As they came back Jett and I decided to go on another adventure where everyone decided to follow us this time. Now if you’ve been to North Beach around the time that I wrote this or even years after (The place never changes) then you will know that there is a little shop right on the beach and then the toilet area on the other side of that little park.
Jett and I found this part very interesting as it had a round ledge about three meters or more up the rounded toilet area, which would have been great to walk upon. That’s what Jett and I did as the rest of them walked below us. The ledge was big enough to fit one and a half of my feet lengthwise and it was a pretty safe fall also. The great thing about this wall was that it practically went around the whole of the toilet area and it was pretty big.
Jett and I being the adventurers who make things happen walked around the area towards the part of the ledge facing the beach. The wall on which we had our back to upon this ledge high off the ground was high enough for me to stretch my hands and get onto and I was curious as to what was on the other side.
Coming to an area where there was a lowering wall by one meter columns Jett and I decided to walk upon them despite the danger of losing grip and falling a couple of meters to the ground. It was a windy night but that didn’t bother us and us two cutthroats managed to climb into the toilet area, not taking into heed the possibility that it would be locked up or we couldn’t get back out. Jett was game enough so I also gave it a go and once inside we noticed we were in the guys’ toilet area.
Playing Decoy in the Toilet Block
The toilets were open so we had no hassles getting back out and as the rest of them also realized this in due time, the both of us decided to play a game called decoy, simply meaning, the both of us were as stealthy as could be climbing upon the roofs of the toilet and onto different areas away from the rest of them. Climbing from the men’s toilets across a large roof and to the women’s section we were pretty much in the clear but wanted to scare the rest of them.
For that we made our way back into the men’s toilet area and hid in some toilets where you could hear in the next corridor everyone walking in. Trying to be quiet we let out a whisper or two of caution and as we heard people coming in Keith screamed out while peeping his head around the corner and there Jett was jumping in fearful surprise, we were found.
