Boiled Chicken and Tennis

Shawn and Tatton finally came over around 9:30 p.m. and when they did I finished eating my dinner being boiled chicken and watching a great game of Tennis between Tod Philippoussis and Everett Chang. As for the boiled chicken, I’ve decided in the last week or two that I’m going to eat less food made completely in oils and fats. Clogged arteries isn’t the fashion I want my body to invest in so for the past couple of days I’ve been eating boiled chicken instead of fried.

Keith Wants a Jigsaw

When the tennis game was over we set up the Nintendo to play and as we did we received a call. Thinking that it would be Lyssa ringing me to say goodnight I was surprised to find it was Keith asking for Tatton. Putting Tatton on the phone he only talked for a couple of seconds and hung up. Basically, Keith wanted Tatton to lend him his jig-saw and he also mysteriously wanted Tatton to head over to his house.

So for some stupid reason Keith wanted Tatton’s help and later on in the night we found out the reason. Keith was installing some new speakers and two amplifiers for his car and he needed that jig-saw. On top of that Keith bought himself a CD player so now he’s half way to a good system, half of the money spent.

Lyssa Says Goodnight

Getting into our game of Gridiron and just watching Shawn and Tatton play their first game I received another call but this time it was from Lyssa. Hearing the Nintendo noise in the background she said “They’re there are they” and with that she just said “Alright, I just rang you to say goodnight” and with that I said goodnight and our night of conversation was finished, at least for another night.

Keith Shows Off His Speakers

Soon after we started playing John Madden Football 97 we heard a car out the front and who do you know it is, Keith. As Shawn went out to see what he wanted the two of them walked in with Binh tailing along. As we all sat in my room it started to remind me like old days but this time we had something to do, play games. While Shawn and I played a game Keith took Tatton outside to show him his system but now that I’ve heard the splits that he has bought I think they are fairly ordinary but with a fair bit of clarity.

Marathon Games of Gridiron

Getting into the story of playing Gridiron everyone had a game and I found that my games took longer. The timer was set for three minutes a quarter and a usual game would take 20 minutes but mine would just keep going on and on. For example, I gave Keith a game when he learnt how to control the game as I had. Every second play without fail we would score a touchdown and this would drag on the time ever so long. The game easily took over an hour to play and as the points accumulated we started reaching low basketball numbers.

At the end of it I beat Keith with a score line like 80 points to 60. When Keith and Binh had left (Who fell asleep because he was so tired around midnight) I gave Shawn a good match up game. Tatton watched on as we once again took ages to finish the game and although there weren’t as much points involved in this game it certainly took near to an hour or over to complete. Shawn would do a double combo where he would hand off to a running back and then the next play he would pass to the left where it would be totally free and score.

When it was my turn to score Shawn would give me constant shallow kicks to try and recover the ball himself. One running play or two I will try and then with my San Francisco 49ers team I will pass to the Wide Receiver with a Hail Mary and get in goal all the time.

Shawn would be better at kick return where he would bring it back almost 50 yards but there was this one time where I brought it straight to the line from kick return. In the end I beat Shawn by 10 points where my score was around 35 and Tatton was glad we had finally completed our duel.

Dawn Creeps Closer

The games with Tatton were very quick as both Shawn and I would continually sack him and the time would keep ticking. Alas, time kept ticking and before we knew it our start of the night being 11:00 p.m. had evolved a couple of hours. The time was nearing 5:00 a.m. and Tatton wanted to head home. Shawn and I protested as we were playing a season and each of us wanted to make it to the play-offs. Simulating the rest of our games to play-off season we were debating whether to play or not and I got my chance to play against Washington or some other good team.

Beating the Computer at Last

This was to be the last game and as everyone was getting beaten by the computer all night I finally won one over the damn thing. It was intense from the start as they scored 7 points and I thought there was no chance I would score back. Then they scored once more on my ass and I thought I was totally out. It wasn’t until I kept pushing on with continual runs that I pushed my way up to their line and finally with my star receiver I caught the ball in the end zone.

Fired up with this and having kicked I tried to keep them out of scoring another try so they wouldn’t topple me over when I kicked to them again in second half. That I did manage to do and scoring a field goal out of their errors I went on to gain a further 7 points seconds from half time. Now with a chance sown in my mind I urged myself on and exchanged goals between us.

The last two minutes of the game arrived and behind by 4 or so points I had to score a touchdown. Creeping up ever so slowly with my running plays I finally managed to run one in within the last minute of play. My objective now was to keep them from scoring in the dying seconds of the game and they had three chances but I kept them out all three times.

Tatton Calls It a Night

Finishing and beating the other team in Gridiron for a chance beyond the play-offs Tatton got shitty because he was tired and bawled “I don’t care what anyone says, I’m tired and I’m going home.” Turning off his Nintendo I didn’t really care because I had beaten the computer and gathering it could just as well have been the Super Bowl I was happy with my victory.

The time was almost 6:00 a.m. when I had seen Tatton and Shawn off and with real tired eyes I started my computer and began typing in there as to remember some chronology now in my computer. Alas, the time has once again reached 5:25 a.m. and I can no longer stay on the computer as I have overstayed myself so I must be off. There is now only Thursday to write about having been the day just gone and since that brought no real adventures I shouldn’t have too much to emphasize tonight.
