Worms On The Playstation And A Cinema Door (Part 1) – Mad Chaos: December 11, 1998

Close Call Night

Tonight was a close call for action and a direct hit for suspense. There was all the workings of fate, time, involvement, scandal and girlies but so close is too far away. If I had my own car I would not be speaking these words as the possibilities to meet people on my own terms and to the places I chose would greatly increase.

Tonight I went out with Keith and Shawn because they informed me that Ingleburn High School’s after formal party was on and pumping with over 200 people there. This of course excited me but in the stressed out mood I was in with the game I was playing I didn’t want to head out anywhere. Keith finally persuaded me to head out of the house and the rest of the night eventuated until now from 12:30 p.m. so you can tell it was pretty much a bomb.

Pausing The Diary

Last when I was writing in my Diary I abruptly stopped but believe me, it wasn’t so abrupt. The reason I stopped was for the pressure to use the Play Station that Jett had lent to me until Saturday so we can get together and play ‘Worms’. The other reason is because my fingers were once again straining and I had to give them a stretch and a rest. Therefor in this space I shall continue with telling the rest of Wednesday and then tonight’s expeditions.

After my workout on Wednesday I had myself something to eat and ringing Greater Union I found out what time the movie played. Giving Keith a call he told me he would be over at 6:30 p.m. which was half an hour after I had called him. In that time I heard once again a motorbike roaring out the front and knew of only one person who would own such a street machine.

Worms On The Playstation

Walking into my room Jett asked what I was doing and when I informed him that I was leaving in an half an hour his timing was unattended as he had brought his Play Station with him. Despite our drawback we set up the Play Station anyway and started playing the game ‘Worms’ which he brought it over for in the first place. Halfway through our second game Keith came down the street beeping his horn as he usually does and as I walked outside to talk to him I told him we’d go to the later session which was at 8:45 p.m. to watch ‘Saving Private Ryan’.

Keith didn’t want to hang around, he just wanted to head out for a drive but he told me he would be back. Jett showed me how to play ‘Worms’ and learning quickly we were soon on the verge of ultimate power while blowing each other up. Asking Jett if he wanted to come to the movies I was surprised that he said yes.

Chatting With Min-Su

While we waited for Keith to come back and still playing our game Jett called up Min-Su so he could talk to her. Still concentrating on the game and speaking at the same time it got a bit hard for him after a while so he handed the phone to me because Min-Su wanted to talk with me.

I myself found it extremely hard to concentrate on Min-Su while playing the game and wondering what Jett was thinking knowing that he would be conjuring her conversation with me in his head. There were times of some silence and I felt rude and probably looked rude but I didn’t like the idea that I was having a conversation with Jett’s girlfriend even though I did have hearty talks with her before.

When Keith came back Jett took his time hanging up the phone and as I had half packed the Play Station he told me that I could borrow it until Saturday so I could learn to be good competition on Saturday with ‘Worms’.

Jett rode his motorbike to Macarthur Square and as we were trailing him he squeezed through two cars where one was in front of the other in opposing lanes giving Jett just enough room to squeeze through. At Macarthur Square we found out that the movie wasn’t starting until 8:45 p.m. so giving us half an hour we headed to Fun n Games where all these boy scouts were having a party playing all the coin-op games.

Pinball Shaking

Keith played his share of pinball games and as the machine didn’t have a tilt function Shawn and I sat there shaking the fuck out of the machine, no one came to check it out. Simon was also at Fun n Games with some guy and girl (With Blonde hair, good looking but had a boyfriend and is a Westie sort of make-up girl) playing the pinball machines. They were all there to watch ‘Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’.

Waiting Outside The Cinema

When the time arrived the three of us headed down the stairs and with some old lady guarding the doors we sat down on the side tables where there are mirrors to the roof of the walls. Bringing this up at this moment might sound vain of me but I dressed my hair up Wednesday night. Rather, I smoothed Bryl-Cream through my hair the night before and because it’s so oily and refreshing it stayed in my hair after a wash and maintained a certain bounce.

That let my hair fall down my face without bothering me at the front and that’s how I wore my hair out Wednesday night. There on the tables we sat for at least fifteen minutes waiting for her to leave and as she didn’t Keith decided to jump up and make his way for the entrance. The reason I didn’t get up was because there was a girl from the Reception desk still standing at the door waiting for the other lady to come back. As Keith walked in she asked if he had been in there before and as he said yes she let him in.

Jett and myself were surprised as to how he got in but straight after that the lady came back to the door and sat there for a couple more minutes. When she left and some other door guy came along to talk to her Jett decided to walk in but I was still uncertain. It’s not that I didn’t have faith in myself but I just didn’t feel like watching a movie for the night, it was beyond me.

With just me outside I sat looking for a break and I did see one or two but I just didn’t want to head into the Cinema’s and I knew they would come back out for me soon enough. Walking back up to Fun n Games I met up with Manson again who works there and was talking to me about my hair being longer than hers.

The need to talk to her wasn’t there and I don’t know what it is about the Goon Girls and Manson especially but I just don’t like talking to her and it looks as if I’m snobbing her off. Maybe it’s because she’s more snobby than I appear to be that we keep walking off on each other but it’s no skin off my back. Janice also showed up looking pretty nice, you could say good looking.

Heading Home

While playing a coin-op game Jett and Keith made their way back up to greet me and it was here that they told me the movie would have been great if I had come in, like I didn’t know that. It was time to head home anyway and as we headed for the cars Jett told me he was also heading home so we said goodbye and made plans for Saturday, using the Play Station all day at my house.

Walking to Keith’s car I noticed Constantine, her boyfriend and Nikita standing at their car and feeling obliged and willing I said hello to them and the usual ‘What are you doing tonight’ chit chat. Jumping in the car Keith took me home after that and the rest of the night I spent typing away on my computer and then being overrun by playing the Play Station.

Sleep And Job Hunting

Wednesday night (Or rather should we say early morning) I didn’t get to sleep way until 7:30 a.m. but the peculiar thing about this once more is that I woke up at 2:15 p.m. which only gave me almost seven hours of sleep time but I still woke up earlier than my usual time. Slowly my afternoon sleeps will disappear and I will only be nocturnal to some degree, maybe weekends. I’m not sure if I mentioned this before but yesterday or the day before I called up Meco & McCallum wanting to know if any night shift positions were available.

The person I talked to was there after hours so he told me to ring back at a more appropriate time. I still hadn’t done that so I’ll probably get it done tomorrow. Just being in Keith’s car tonight and knowing that if I had a car I would have stopped and probably had a chat with girls tonight gives me enough reason to get a job and start saving for my all important first step, wheels.
