Ned’s Temper
When the tents and the conversation was complete Ned asked us to head out and look for wood or stools to sit on. A quick note about Ned’s personality now and how people decipher it. Ned loves to drink his grog and if there is anything he loves doing more is being choleric. You will find that Ned gets irritated easily and because of this many people don’t contest to his attitude as they don’t want to put up with his petulance. For example, while Ned was putting up Ace’s tent he got easily flustered for no apparent reason but the sprinkling of rain and because of that he decided to throw a metal peg that holds down the tent.
Tossing it purposefully at the tent nothing was said at the time but later in the day we found out that Ned created a hole. Keith began whinging about how Ace would now have his balls but trying to get sympathy from Ned was like squeezing blood from a stone. “Just tell him to come speak to me if he has any problems” Ned uttered and after he even thought that we should blame it on Tyler and bash him at night while we were at it.
Tyler and Rochelle Break Up
Speaking of Tyler, the latest news that I heard in our little discussions was that he wasn’t going out with his girlfriend anymore, Rochelle. They were going out for a month and one week when they decided to break up and Keith didn’t know the entirety of the story but from what he remembered, it sounded like she dumped him. However, he noted that it was a mutual decision for their break up and all I could think of was one of them didn’t like the other carnally anymore.
Tyler saw Rochelle everyday and I figure that he was either being too persistent, too cocky, too lustful or too one sided in the receiving department. Tyler is still a virgin and that would have been his best opportunity but we figured that if he kept talking as if he only wanted a root and didn’t care for her that much, he would end up losing her. I’m always good with assumptions and premonitions alike so I’m going to say that Rochelle decided to call it off and Tyler chose the honorable choice of making it a mutual decision.
Two reasons why Rochelle would have called of their relationship, he didn’t care for her to the level that she cared for him and after a while he just didn’t cut it for her in the looks department, she got tired of him. I can’t see why Tyler would want to break up with her because he was intent on getting down and dirty with her, they got pretty far.
Bins for Seats
Heading out in our search for wood or something to sit on we made our trek through the muddy roads laden with potholes and like blemishes. Our feet were brimful of slush as we persisted to our initial landing upon the parchment of land in which I called my fantasy garrison. Recalling how there were two Otto bins sitting there I notified Keith and figured that if they weren’t chained down we could wheel them to our camp and sit on them for the night.
That didn’t sound like too bad an idea to Keith as we headed over but doubt ran through our skeptical minds as we saw bars on either side of the bins holding them upright and together. Taking a closer look I became elated with surprise to the fact that the bars holding the bins weren’t holding the bins in place. Someone must have already tried vandalism with the bins as the handles were yanked from their supported holdings.
This meant we could take the two bins with us and before heading back Keith and I lifted up a log in which we dumped in Keith’s bin. Heading back to our set camp we placed the bins sideward on the ground to the shaking heads of Shawn and Ned and prepared for a long wait and the rest of our day.
Heading Into Town
After a little while trying to set up a campfire miserably the need for adventure outweighed boredom. Almost driven to the point of insanity having to listen to songs way before my dad’s time on the only AM Station we could find on Shawn’s dodgy little radio we decided it would be best to head into town. That would successfully notch off a couple of tedious hours waiting for Binh and the rest of the clan to arrive and it would also bring some life to an otherwise dull day out in the muddy sticks.
Ned was the only one that wasn’t keen on heading out because Keith wanted to have someone keep an eye on the whiskey he half paid for, he wanted me to stay behind. Feeling that my staying behind with Ned would be like two opposing magnets which are five meters away from each other anyway, I opted to head out. “I want to buy some food and watch the Football game on television at the pub” I remarked and not being able to lay any more claim to his bottle of whiskey being fully drunk by a young alcohol-loving Ned, we made our departure for town.
The first place we thought to visit was the pub and as Keith parked his car behind the premises in the muddy gravel we made our way to the front and inside. Priority was on calling Binh’s mobile phone as I had triggered Keith into doubting Binh’s arrival with my incessant cynicism. When it was found out that Binh was making his appearance we were all disconcerted by the fact that he wouldn’t be leaving until after 5:30 p.m. and he wouldn’t be in until 8:00 p.m.
Snooker at the Pub
This brought down my perception of how esteemed my weekend would be held and as we had plenty of time to spare we decided to stick around at the pub. The pub itself was just like a big house separated into different sections of small rooms. There was also an upstairs but I figured by the barrier that someone either lived up there when the bar was closed or it was some sort of brothel for the inquisitive. Making our way to the snooker room Keith decided it would be best to kill some time playing snooker on the smaller tables and not feeling intimidated I thought to give it a go.
Placing two dollars in the table we racked up the balls but soon found there was one missing. Checking all the holes I found there to be a ball stuck and as I just tapped it the ball sunk fully into the hole. “Great, now we’re playing with one less ball” Keith uttered as the ball wasn’t spat out for us but as I broke that was the least of my problems.
It did feel awkward playing with one less ball but that didn’t really affect my game as I only sunk three of four. Keith on the other hand was more matured in his game than I and as he sunk with accuracy I decided to even up the game by not letting one of his balls drop and placing it back on the table. Despite this late equilibrium to our game Keith seemed to win with relative ease but I wasn’t flustered, I enjoyed my casual training at snooker.
As we ended our game two guys and two girls jumped onto the table and as Keith and Shawn wanted to have another game we all sat down and collected our thoughts for a little while. One of the women was blonde and judging by her facial features and face shape, she looked to either be Croatian or from any neighboring country of Macedonia. She was good looking but like most people up at the put she could have done with some improvement.
Pub Prices and Pool Players
Her breasts weren’t the divine shape but rather, with a bra, they looked like they were free-floating. Another turnoff was the fact that she was wearing loose pants with a brown belt, not the look I was going for. It might work for all the country bumpkins up there but I can be sure that if she was wearing a little black dress she would clean up much more resplendently.
Right through their game, she showed a touch of class and professionalism in all her shots as so did the other two guys. One of them looked to be the chef at the pub and later in the night I found that to be true. I also found that the blonde woman who looked to be 23 years of age worked at the bar as well, behind the counter. That would explain her victorious fledging on the pool table and her tasteful mannerism of proficient pool playing.
Shawn and Keith had their game of pool as I sat and watched and in that time the lady with the blonde hair coaxed her younger twelve year old friend to play the arcade game in the same area. As the little girl jumped on the ‘Cruising USA’ game the blonde forked out $2 so she could have a game. Let me just say, for a put out in the middle of nowhere, it sure was keeping up with ridiculous prices on all amenities.
The aged pool table and old arcade games cost $2 per game and later in the night I worked out that if I wanted to have some sort of dinner, the cheapest dish would be eight dollars. This pissed me off to a degree but I figure that the locals don’t know any better as they never really taste outside luxuries. Nevertheless, drinks at the bar were cheap which is the benchmark of any successful pub so I must give it some credit on that front.
Salami and Giant Mushrooms
With our lingering relaxation in the pub we decided to skittle off after Keith’s game with Shawn and before heading to the cars we decided to head to the shops. The time must have been around 4:00 p.m. when we headed out of the pub, all I remember is that the shops were closing up. Making our way just down the street to a small grocery shop I was coaxed into buying some food for our stay that night. Keith bought some orange juice from the newsagent just up the road so I figured that buying some slices of salami wouldn’t go astray.
Looking around the shop I also noticed a box with normal small mushrooms and then an emptier box next to it with gigantic mushrooms. There were only three mushrooms in this box but as I picked one of them out surprised at its immensity I asked the lady behind the counter if it was for sale. Nodding her head in approval I couldn’t believe how large a mushroom cold grow, it was the size of a dinner plate. Deciding to buy it with the salami altogether it only cost me $3.50 and with that we headed back to Keith’s car.
Sprinkling again as we jumped back into the car we showed our quiet contempt for being out in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do but buy food and watch mushrooms grow. Not too far from that truth I started eating the huge mushroom in the backseat of Keith’s car, peeling the sides of it and then munching away for what proved to be a good meal. Mushrooms are my favorite algae or whatever you’d like to call them, I love mushrooms.
