Chevy’s Looks Good
As we made our way up the stairs we paid our debt to the cashier and getting our stamps, we grooved through the doors into the depth of dancing rivalry.
From the onset Chevy’s was looking pretty good despite there being a couple of empty gaps between people. It was past midnight and not everyone was making an effort to jump on the dancefloor. Our first point of contact was to head for the bar in which I was now able to finally buy myself a drink as I had money. Giving Keith my three dollars, I had him order me an orange juice and there the four of us sat having a drink looking upon the stage.
There were heaps of attractive girls but the one that plagued my mind throughout the night was this blonde that I know I have seen before. Now that I think about it, I know she is a twin and her sister looks nothing like her. One of them is blonde and another has black hair and they are totally different in their hairstyle.
I remember that one day I noticed her at Bradbury shops with her sister as I was down there with Keith who knew the both of them. They used to go to Airds High School. I remember them faintly and when looking through the thicket of people, she glanced on occasion at me. I should have let out a smile but it would have been lacking confidence or sincerity, so I just kept with my avid glancing.
Ace was chatting to some girl that walked up to him and through the start of the night he ended up talking to three girls who knew him and walked up to him. When our drinks were finished and we were getting tired of standing around we decided to find a seat in a part where Chevy’s wasn’t being renovated. Ace sat down on the enclosure as the rest of us found seats and as we looked around the room, we noticed a heap of beauty.
Another thing we noticed was this try-hard white guy with blonde hair, no meat at all and a white bonds singlet doing his little Shoo-Bop dancing. He looked so gay in the way he was dancing and the big smile on his face made me realize that he was enjoying himself thinking he was the best and hottest thing despite looking like an idiot. The four of us looked at him and we all hoped that we didn’t look as bad as him for the night.
How bad is that though, you look like a mummy’s boy with the cleanest bond singlet looking not old enough to grow whiskers. He looked as if he was by himself for the whole night giving me the impression that he either came by himself or his friends left him to his own devices as soon as he thought he was good enough to clad center stage.
Diamond Stands Behind Me
Making our way through the crowd with the intention of hitting the dancefloor, we made way past the bar towards the front doorway where we four stood, anticipating the next step. Walking past the bar I noticed Diamond, the girl I saw in Lyssa’s photos that I’ve always had a thing for. She looked hot with how she was wearing her hair but the only blemish was the fact that she was with some guy spotted with her before. I gather that the both of them are going out but it spun me out how somehow she found her way to stand a foot behind me and in my view.
Perchance she done it purposefully to stand around as we both shared an embrace of eyes and in that embrace, there was recognition. However, I wouldn’t have myself believe that she was standing next to me purposefully. Nevertheless, through the night she shared the same dance space with me in which she came on to dance with her male friend and as Shawn and I were facing towards each other next to the both of them, I could as well have been dancing with her. More on that later.
A Familiar Face From Work
Taking our first steps onto the dancefloor, I could see the eagerness for Shawn to get out there and test out the new clothing. On the way to Chevy’s I heard him state that he’d never worn black in his life and was thinking about investing in some black clothes for the nightclub scene. Friday night could have been the conversion period for Shawn when wearing some gear that had the potential to attract women to his whim. Anyway, jumping up onto the stage portion of the dancefloor, I was tapped on the shoulder and seeing a tall skinny guy with a shaved head, I knew him from somewhere but didn’t know where.
Then when we started talking it finally clicked that this was the same guy from work who lived in Panania, the one regarded as comical or out of place. He looked surprised to see me wearing what I did but I was surprised that he also knew that it was me despite the big change and the hair down. As we started chatting away I also realized that Sherry’s brother’s friend was also with him as I shook his hand and he uttered that it’s been a long time since he’s seen me.
I felt good now that someone had seen me out of work clothes being the real me. I felt somewhat liberated. Now I knew that we would have a bond when we saw each other at work with what some more friendships could be built. This work enterprise only gets better and to think I was even considering quitting. Nevertheless, I feel that it was only a thought and I would never have gone through with it because I stuck too much pride to get off the dole and into work.
Speaking of work, I’m so grateful to actually be working and to have that chance to finally build my life from what seems to be scratch. I have had jobs before but this I feel has been my first real job that has let me be myself and in such a short time my confidence has already gained to a degree that I can now build upon. I won’t say that I love my job but I do hold a high degree of respect and gratitude for it.
I enjoy its opportunity of freedom and it doesn’t come at any price because it gets me out amongst people everyday, it keeps me striving, keeps me happy, and mostly, it keeps me wanting to better myself at work. Hopefully this attitude can propel me into future promotions but as I consider my job a lucrative occupation, I wouldn’t mind being in the administration section for years. This job is like a hobby to me and to get more money or promotions is a bonus and inspiration to work more…
Back To The Dancefloor
Sunday 4:00 p.m.
Another interruption bade me stop literature beckoning another interlude to the saga of this long weekend. It feels like my constant scriptures will never cease but my saga will finish, if not tonight, by tomorrow night. Still, Friday night’s tale still keeps me hung up making for a lengthy read if we were to combine all these multiple entries for the same day. Anyway, no mucking around, no philosophy, just plain, clean chronology.
From last count on leaving these pages, the story had me making my way to dancefloor issues, passing, low and behold, one of the guys from HIH, and now shall we begin off that tidal step to the rest of Friday night. One thing though. I forgot an important (it has significance) part of that night at Chevy’s just before heading up onto the stage.
Parking My Sweater
Wearing my polo neck sweater, I knew I wasn’t going to dance around with it so I headed to the cloak room at the front where we paid to get in but when disappointed to find out that there was no availability, it forced me to make my way to Keith, borrow his keys and then head outside into the freezing cold to park my sweater in his car.
On the way through came a tap on the shoulder by Arnold. Being somewhat of a surprise, he mentioned over the top of the music and the crowd that I looked muscular in what I was wearing. Trying to downplay with modesty the significance of someone like him from my past paying a compliment, I just laughed on how it was the stretch of the fabric, as we chatted for a couple and then I was off to put away my jumper.
Through some more of the crowd I noticed Diamond again standing with the same guy, spotting her from the corner of my eye taking a gander. Quickly running outside and jogging down the street I heard someone from the crowd yell out my name and then wave to me. I have no idea who it was but I’m pretty sure it could have been Sherry’s brother’s friend, or was it that guy with blonde hair that hangs out with Ignatius (Naqi’s friend).
Anyway, I beeped Keith’s car open, threw in my sweater and then jogged back to the line in which I didn’t have to wait because I already had a stamp. It made me feel a cut above the rest, like I knew the bouncers and I was renowned, a cool high.
Own The Place Says Ace
When the four of us started dancing, I stuck next to Ace, who like the rest of us was trying to find his rhythm and groove. Unfortunately we couldn’t get into it straight away because they weren’t playing great music but like everyone else, we were just going through the motions. Ace kept telling me that we had to move into a bigger mass of people and when noting my lack of looking confident, he remarked, “You have to look like you own the place.”
Like I have noted before, for some strange reason it seemed like every time I would walk near some girls they would end up leaving. I’m not sure if it was me or if it was just my mind playing tricks on me but each time they left I felt like I was the reason. Led to believe that I was dancing too hard or girly, I just kept at exactly what I was doing, having fun. Ace on the other hand despite saying encouraging words left the floor early to head for the toilet. However, he only came on for a little longer and then jumped back off the floor.
To me this seemed unlike the outgoing Ace with a huge smile on his face. At the start of the night Ace called me a “Sick Cunt” which put me in a better mood so I wasn’t sure why he wasn’t dancing. He also commented on Shawn noting that he looked good. Shawn replied, “Yeah, they’re all Tony’s clothes.”
Later on in the night I found out that Ace wasn’t comfortable with what he was wearing. He underdressed himself because he thought Westies would outweigh the city folk but he was wrong. Nevertheless, he had good jeans on, a black shirt and a jacket top on that so he never looked underdressed to me. He looked just as good as he normally does but I guess even Ace gets self-esteem problems.
The Blonde Twin
In the whole night we danced on all parts of the floor, top, bottom, middle and sides. For most of the night it was just me and Shawn on the floor because Keith stepped off looking for Ace and Ace was roaming around. To comment on the people I noticed however, which made it such a good night, let me begin with my first encounter, when dancing with Shawn on the bottom part of the dancefloor to sift through to a bunch of good looking chicks dancing in their little team.
One of those girls was the blonde twin that looks nothing like her other. While dancing and facing them, one of her friends backed up and danced right in front of me. Alls I had to do was push my body forward three centimeters and she would have been right on me but chicken being I, my two hands never wandered far, keeping tame as my feet tapped with zest behind. I really wanted to turn her around and dance with her or place my arms on her hips and create that gusto but her friends turned me off with mixed looks.
I’m pretty sure now that they were giving her looks as if to say, “He’s about to dance up on you now” but as they noticed me keep my distance, their confused looks must have been wondering, “Gees, what’s wrong with him?” They probably figured me gay with my choice of clothes but still, even without an accidental bumping into, I was awarded when she turned her head and let out a smile, in which I smiled back. Ah, how lovely.
A Girl Who Knows Me
There were other girls all over the dancefloor but as we jumped back up to dance a girl actually tapped me on the shoulder and shouted “I know you don’t I.” Not too sure if this was a come-on, I could see some significance in who she was so I went along with it. There we stood chatting to each other for a couple of minutes as she told me she knew me through Miroslav.
This girl wasn’t attractive at all but one of her friends who had long brown hair tickled my fancy. I asked if she could have her friends turn around for a dance but she mentioned that the girl I liked had a boyfriend. Therefore, I started dancing again with Shawn and the rest of the crowd. The girls danced a step or two behind, the taken one right behind me but there was never any eye-contact between us despite my looking over on occasion.
She was probably shy as well as intrigued, dancing near and never straying, but her friend probably just mentioned that I liked her. A lot of old ass action through my skin-tight pants would swerve into motion because she was behind me. I’m not sure if it done anything for her but you can bet the girl that approached me in the first place was enjoying the show.
