Games on the Grass

When the food was eaten we all sat around the bench where Keith was glum and pegged balls back and forth at Jett, Tatton and Shawn who were on the beach. From this escapade we moved to more finer sports where we began with Cricket and the tennis balls that Binh had bought ended up all splitting after one or two hits. Further to this we played soccer where I was goalie on one side and pulled off a great save but after that Tyler scored two points against me.

The next disastrous game in which I knew I shouldn’t have played was tackle football. I was going to sit this one out but decided to include myself into a team of four. Ralf and Keith were both on one team against us smaller components but despite the imbalance of power and size we managed to keep them on wrap and score some ourselves with witty speed. Nevertheless, you can’t stop Ralf when he tries to put the pace on but as I step out of his way I can’t help but to laugh at the determination and zealous expression on Ralf’s face.

Those two seconds where Ralf catches the ball, puts on the big front step and then pushes off to run slightly faster than a walk is payment enough against watching him score a try. Ralf feels so good when he scores a try and considering he’s always put down because he’s not good at Cricket but he wants to be the Captain he deserves his moment of dim-witted glory. Even if everything is oblivious to Ralf and he’s in his own little world for those two seconds of determination let him have his victory.

Making Up Gridiron Rules

From our rough game of touch football we ended up starting a game of Gridiron in which I think Shawn suggested it. Bringing back the atmosphere of Madden 99 that we heard and played so much we played with three people to a team. One was Quarterback, one was Center to snap the ball and then either be blocker or catcher and the other was wide receiver.

On the defensive team there was man against the center, cornerback and middle linebacker. In our games I had the guy marking the center usually push him and then fall back to follow whilst the middle linebacker went in for the Quarterback and the corner followed his man. If it looked like a run we would send the linebacker and corner in leaving the third man for wide play on two men.

After ten minutes of our game and a couple of people from across the park watching Tyler took out the camera and we started taping our game. Making it out as if it was Madden 99 Tyler done his little commentary, the coin toss, the field direction choice and then we were on our way. Our team was Binh, Anders and myself in which we never subbed off a player and even when they had Keith on their team we drove them back.

In fact, on Keith’s first play he didn’t intimidate us as we sacked him for a loss of ten yards with three of us pushing him back to his hopeless struggle to hit ground. There were so many foul calls like when I knocked the ball out for a fumble but they got the ball back and when there was a lateral past the line of scrimmage and it wasn’t awarded to us.

Nevertheless, it was a game and we thought it would be great when we took it home to see exactly what was right and wrong. The game went on for at least an hour where it started to get dark but in the end of it all our team without substitution won eight points to five. Ione and Rochelle were sitting on the sideline watching all the hard tackles and successful passes in which everyone scored a touchdown, maybe except for Keith.

Where Is the Golden T

There was a time in between our Gridiron game where we sat down for drinks and then feeling for my prized necklace something felt amiss. Feeling that it had broken from my neck I frantically searched down my top but in a humble repose, not really showing much care. Anders was sitting next to me as well as Jett and when I found my necklace broken around my neck but not the ‘Golden T’ we all started to get worried.

Jett and the rest of them knew what that chain meant to me as I took off my shirt behind Binh’s car to check if it was in me somewhere. Not being able to find it I knew that I would never be able to find it in the grass where we played but I gave it a try anyway. During our break there were a couple of us that went looking around for it with our heads down to the ground but we came out to no avail.

Therefore, to my lack of enthusiasm and reluctance we stood up and prepared for another Quarter of Gridiron. Anders never gave up looking for it with his eyes on the ground even when we were playing our game. Tyler and Rochelle helped me find it as I had her model the necklace for me as I took a picture of the both of them in his car. Ione also helped me look for it as I told her the story and the significance of my ‘Golden T’ in which everyone thought it was a sign for Taurus.

My luck and gratitude is all owed to Anders who through our game spotted the precious and minute item on the ground through the grass. Handing it to me I couldn’t help but to hug him with gratitude and then thank him every minute after that. Letting everyone know who found it and my gratitude for such great eagle eyes we continued on with the game to which we won with my new sense of spirit.

Home With Bruises

Ralf was the first to leave before any of us and Quillon also left with his girlfriend in which I chatted to him earlier on in the day and took a picture of the both of them. From that game of Gridiron I was bruised all over and my stretch mark on my left hand got worse almost instantly after a tackle where my arm was pulled on.

Still my stretch mark is the same consistency and I am now bruised on my right arm, have little scratches and my whole body feels the aches from my Gridiron workout. When the time reached near 6:00 p.m. we started to pack the cars in which I took some more pictures of the whole group together and then we headed home. Stopping off at Macdonald’s along the way I bought Ione a drink, we made our way to the car with everyone else and then it was back off to home.

Ione sat in the front as I gave her a preference but now I realize I should have seen to it that the both of us jumped in the back seat for some more conversation. I’m positive that if I did sit in the backseat with Ione something might have happened stemming from my bid to try something, who cares what anyone thinks. Dropping Ione off we talked the rest of the way home about our trip, Binh, Shawn and myself.

Shawn was the first to get dropped off and I was thinking of inviting him over with the camera but I never would have had the chance to type in my diary. Nevertheless, upon getting home I started to get tired early and ended up sleeping at 10:00 a.m. That led to no avail as I didn’t set my alarm properly and I had to rely on mum to wake me up at 6:30 a.m. but more on that in my next diary entry.

Last Words of the Month

This is the end of this month and the start of this new sophisticated era of bettering. Next month I will not hope to get a job and I will not hope to keep one because I know I will have this job for a fair while of my own accord. Nope, all I hope for is good expenditure of my money, maybe a girl to keep me company and some good weekends, especially the long weekend coming up. Let June not be the time to remember my first kiss with Lyssa or my going out with her two years ago.

Let me not travel down the same remorseful road of remembrance as I did with Jewell, which led me to catastrophe. Nope, let me just meet new people, be it from work or from friends, just new people and new adventures. The past has almost slid from me, the worst of it anyway and with this forgetfulness I want to bring back who I was when I was eighteen years of age. This is my new challenge, for now, let me see you on the other side tomorrow…
