Mum Fears the Worst

Speaking now of today, I woke up without being bothered, that happened around 2:00 p.m. Once awake I heard that my mum was heading to the hospital to check out some X-Rays. Having a pain in her breast she was afraid that the doctors would find breast cancer and the night before she was fairly worried about her visit. Knowing that there would be a possibility that mum would have a breast removed in an extreme case I had to think about having to live with that, it wouldn’t be easy. However mum had nothing wrong with her as she noted to me an hour or two later when she returned.

Ambition and a Confusing Poem

For most of my day I kept myself within the house, having a shower here and there, preparing myself for tonight’s entry. There was a time when I walked outside to sop my skin with the sun’s rays and in that time I thought of my laptop and how I will be able to be so creative when those days arrive. Ambition is the better part of my creativeness and along with my great hands, it makes the whole of me.

As you all probably know by now, if I have something in my mind, I will do it, I will try my best to achieve it. When I stick to something, ambition tells me to keep myself there and that’s why I’ve started weight lifting, I’m eating boiled chicken, my poetry has increased and I’ve started skipping to name a few. Today I did not feel very poetically motivated except for a bleak line or two in these last few hours.

The poem I wrote last night, it was a pretty good poem but it is confusing without explanation, even when I read it over and over. Maybe it’s because I can’t think properly in my negative state which is usually the case.

Lyssa Wants a Loan

When 7:30 p.m. arrived I received my first call of the day, Lyssa. Firstly she told me that I was supposed to call her and completely forgetting I said that to her in our last conversation I blamed it on our insisting to watch television and my forgetting. The first thing that Lyssa mentioned to me was the whole of our conversation and the start of our argument of words. “I’m taking out a ten thousand dollar loan to buy that car my dad has waiting for me in Melbourne” is what she told me and taking it in, I knew her motivated intentions were all wrong.

Lyssa reminded of me when I was trying to get my first car and how naïve I was to anyone’s advice. I didn’t care what anyone said, I wanted a car and the first one I saw was the first one I fell in love with.

A Festiva From Melbourne

Now Lyssa’s dad told her that he had a Ford Festiva that he thought would greatly benefit Lyssa and because he knew the dealer at Melbourne he was told a great deal could be made for her. Right now Lyssa has no clue about what type of car she wants and if she did she would have taken that ten thousand dollar idea and put it on a Mirage, a car she really wants. The difference between Lyssa now and me back then is that I tried to look into things while still rushing to get money from a loan where Lyssa is just rushing into things with both eyes closed and her heart open.

Lyssa has no clue what this car in Melbourne looks like, all she knows is that it’s a 1997 Ford Festiva worth eight thousand dollars. That’s when I started to tell Lyssa that her idea to try for ten thousand dollars was not that smart an idea since I knew she wouldn’t be able to handle her money with a five year plan.

Why the Loan Worries Me

The first problem I see with Lyssa taking out a ten thousand dollar loan over five years is the obvious, Lyssa isn’t assured a job in all that time. Employed for only another six months at her current job what assures Lyssa that she will have a job despite her desire to look and take anything. Secondly, I know how Lyssa spends her money, she is greedy with it and spends it on shit. Just to run a short checklist, Lyssa spends her money on a ticket to work, her food for work, taxi’s to and fro destinations and weekend money to head out to clubs which are all wasting forms of her money.

Despite her taking taxi money away from the list she’ll have to add that to petrol money or car repairs if the loan comes through. Now, the money that isn’t squandered by Lyssa each week is then spent on clothes. That is the next problem on the list, instead of paying off her weekly bill of credit she won’t be able to resist the newest fad of clothing that will be thrown in with the rest of the closet full of fad.

All the clothes that Lyssa buys, all the shoes, all the perfume and makeup, that’s useless buying and useless money. What does a person need one hundred different items of clothing for, why such a spending binge.

Telling Lyssa What I Think

To add to these problems, I kept trying to tell Lyssa that it was a bad idea but she kept saying “What’s it your business anyway” and naïve sayings like that simply because she didn’t like my detesting attitude towards her conception. Noting that her buying a car from Melbourne was a bad idea, she didn’t know what she was getting into.

Rather, I feel that Lyssa should go buy a car that she knows she will fall in love with, not someone else’s conception of Lyssa’s love for the automobile. Traveling to Melbourne and back, paying for the fare and then the trouble of driving it back home, that’s too much for one car. If Lyssa had control of her life and wasn’t such a princess acting upon other’s thoughts and never on her own accord she would have gotten off her butt and looked for a car herself.

But, Lyssa’s persuasion is phenomenal and scaring at time’s. How she could be persuaded into doing something and not be able to get herself out because she’s too sincere and timid to do so.

Checking the Trading Post

Lyssa was upset and it sounded like she was on the verge of tears at all the detestable words I was speaking about Lyssa’s idea. In truth, it wasn’t even Lyssa’s idea and that’s why I was so against it. Noting that her dad could have been getting some sort of deal out of the bargain bottom price deal he was getting for Lyssa, I set out to prove myself right.

Having the Trading Post in front of me from a visit to Bradbury shops hours ago I looked up cars around eight thousand dollars in order to prove that Lyssa could get the same deal on a Festiva up in Campbelltown. Doubtful that I would find one to a certain extend I was surprised to find all of the cars selling in car yards and privately to be an average of eight thousand dollars, some less than that.

Reading them all out to Lyssa I made sure she heard all the little details so it would sink into her head that buying a car from Melbourne would just be a hassle. “Are you getting a warranty with the car” I asked Lyssa and not even knowing that much I just presumed she was. “What happens when something in the car breaks down and you want to cash in on your warranty” I asked, “Are you going to drive the car all the way back to Melbourne”.

Knowing that Lyssa wouldn’t do that I pushed and urged for Lyssa to consider buying a car down here if she was so intent on getting a loan, not because her dad said he had this great deal that Lyssa knows nothing about.

Loans Versus Credit Cards

Regarding a loan, Lyssa told me she had done some research on NRMA’s lending of loans but when I asked her some simple questions like how much is the percentage rate she didn’t know the answers. The truth was that Lyssa was so eager to get a loan that she wasn’t even worrying about details that could cost her thousands in the long run. This is close to what I was back in the day when I was trying to get a loan but I checked all the fine print, I just didn’t look around thoroughly enough.

With my continually exposing Lyssa’s quest to get a loan for what it was she started trying to take pot shots at me and my having a Credit Card. Getting her right back, I explained that I’m still in debt for my Credit Card for a starters but it’s a completely different principle to a loan. With a loan, you have to pay a certain amount monthly and keep paying until you have paid the amount fully. With a Credit Card, you can pay off how much you want and you can keep the Credit Card at a considerable debt and still not get hassled for the money.

With my Credit Card, I’ve taken the money out and had it on the borderline of nothing for over a year now and no one has cared or should they. As long as I pay the minimal due amount each month I can take it all back out and repeat it all again.

The Only One Who Objects

Everyone of Lyssa’s friends and her family have been accepting rather than discriminating about Lyssa’s idea but because I care for her, I am the only one that detests the idea. I don’t want to see Lyssa make a big mistake and taking out ten thousand dollars on a loan is a big mistake as I know Lyssa doesn’t have the capability to pay that kind of debt off over time.

The reason Lyssa is buying a newer car is because older cars break down and that is true but why does Lyssa really need a new car. Beggars are not choosers just as I just dream of buying a $5000 dollar laptop when a slower and cheaper product will do the same job. Lyssa is placing too much trust on this one ambitious dream and really, she has to ask herself does she really want this car and the hassles that will come with it.

Our conversation lasted for an hour’s length and it ended abruptly as Lyssa and I couldn’t stand each other anymore. Lyssa didn’t want to listen to reason and even though I yielded somewhat to her ambitious idea I did not falter to stamp my authoritative foot.

The conversation that I had with Lyssa was staged while I was writing in my Diary which I had to cease for an hour. No one apart from Lyssa called me today and that would have been better utilized if so much chronology wasn’t at hand. Nevertheless, I didn’t feel very poetical tonight and I am waiting for a better day this month so my poetry can begin its avalanche of inspiration.
