An idea in the shower
When I finished at the gym I came home to have a shower, and while I was in there I remembered that my Fable 5 access was finishing up soon. I had an idea to run through it: I wanted it to create an HTML5 demonstration that showcased high-tech, advanced, cutting-edge HTML5 of polygons on a mobile phone.
The idea was that it would act like an ice sheet. When you put your finger on the phone screen, it would break up the polygon ice sheet wherever your finger touches it. When you lift your finger up really high off the phone, it would calculate physics like a water drop, as if you were dropping water onto the phone, depending on how long you delay the drop. If you hold your finger off the screen for two seconds, it assumes your hand is really high up before the water drops. If the double tap is very quick, the drop of water only falls a small distance.
“I want to see what Fable 5 can do. I’m testing Fable 5 now with different tests to see how close it can come to my vision.”
Burning through the compute
That night I had maybe 10% compute left when I asked Claude to make a Fable 5 version of the viscosity game. I maxed out and had to wait about an hour from around 4:00 a.m. onwards.
Around 5:20 a.m. I got my compute back for another four and a half hours, so straight away I hit up Fable 5 to build the viscosity in the bottle, and it was doing really well. After some time I hit another wall, and at about 7:00 a.m. I decided to get some sleep.
Showing Lance the new game
Then I took my phone out to show the new game to Lance. I walked him through what I’d built with AI, explaining concepts like gradients and a Bunsen burner mechanic that shifts the temperature in the glass container. Lance chimed in with reactions, questions and his own superpower ideas. He wanted to shake the bottle to make rocks pour out.
“Yeah, okay, let’s do that,” I said, and recorded us talking into the phone.
Game Rules Log: July 7, 2026
- New game concept: a polygon ice sheet sitting in water inside a glass bottle
- Touching the screen breaks the ice where your finger lands
- Water drop physics: the longer your finger is held off the screen, the higher the drop
- Bunsen burner mechanic shifts the temperature of the glass container
