The twelfth tester saw nothing
A guy downloaded the app, and that gave me the required twelfth tester. I saw that he just went through it, didn’t do any onboarding, and ended up on a blank personal best screen. I thought, that’s not good enough. They’re just going to see a screen with nothing on it.
I checked, and the personal best tab doesn’t have any way to add to it. You have to go to the Train tab, and that feeds the personal best tab. There must be a better design.
The nutrition tab
Around 9:45 a.m. I started on the nutrition tab. The free tier gets a search box, cuisine and diet type drill-down, a meal detail view with a full macro breakdown, a portion picker, a small confidence badge, and beverages as their own view. The next phase is the premium builder: ingredient search across the entire catalog, live running totals, and saving custom meals.
By the evening it was on my phone. There are two tabs, one for meals and one for beverages. The custom meal builder gives you a name box and an ingredient search. You keep adding ingredients and amounts, save it, and it shows you calories, potassium and all the micronutrients. It’s pretty cool.
But a meal does nothing by itself
What would be useful is putting those meals together as a meal plan. You search, tap a meal or a beverage, and it drops into a one day plan. You pick the date with whatever date method the app already uses, and record it.
The calendar is the better place to view it. There would be a little pill for meal plans next to the ones for programs and sessions. Photos should work the same way, as a toggle on the calendar. I talked all this out in the shower and copied my instructions into Claude.
A sour note
It still cuts me a bit that the people closest to me didn’t want to be closed testers. I had to go out and find them myself.
On the brighter side, the scheduled posts for BeStreak are doing okay. It’s only about ten people per day, but someone reposted one.
