Errands Around The City

The day’s game plan is not known to effective reason but I do remember the finer points of the day. The morning mail I believe was handled by Najla as I tried to get the fat chunks of David’s filing out of the way. When 11:15 a.m. arrived I had to head out for my first errand of the day. Basically, I had to handle the petty cash cheque as well as deliver an urgent brief to one of the barristers in the MLC Building.

Jana kept belting into my ear the importance of not losing the cheque and as I headed out that door for my little walk I rather relaxed in the fresh air. My job, I really love it. Not only do I get a great variety of people to talk to and call my family, I get to run errands in the nice weather, have one hour lunches in my most preferred places and I get paid for it all.

The fact that I’m working from 8:45 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. doesn’t phase me at all or take away from my sentiments. Walking with a bit of speed towards the MLC Building I headed upstairs to what I think was the 43rd floor and handed over the parcel. Heading back down with the same sense of passive urgency I headed to the nearest National Bank I could see. Walking into the large National Bank on George Street near Martin Place I headed in through the large wooden and brass doors.

Inside it was an exalted setting and as I waited in line I continually looked at my watch, knowing that midday and my possible heading out for lunch was vanishing. Patiently I waited until finally I was served by a Hindu woman and she prolonged my stay more as she slowly made her way to get more ten dollar bills. Because I had to get the exact amount I had to wait for her to come back and instead of taking it out of another till she trekked halfway around the world and then back.

When she finally asked me for identification I got a buzz out of taking out my wallet and handing it over to her for examination. Upon opening it up she looked almost as proud as the interior and the zipper for my change as I was and that made my stay worthwhile.

Plans With Linh And Aleka

With the money well in hand I headed back to work and made it with a couple of minutes to spare before midday. Najla however decided to have her lunch at midday but as it was raining and she had no plans until 12:30 p.m. Najla stayed inside. Heading out at 12:30 p.m. to meet with her boyfriend for lunch I got back to effortless bids to complete David’s filing needs. Within this time I chatted with Linh and I’m not sure of the true content but I do remember that I was at Legal’s printer.

Somehow we dished up conversation about what we do at lunch and then we made a plan to have lunch together on Thursday. It’s a good thing now that we didn’t plan it too well because I ended up having lunch with Shawn and Keith, fill you in later. Whilst Najla was still out Aleka came upstairs to hand me my mail but as usual, I have reason to believe that there were hidden agendas. The both of us chatted for a little while but we never got to asking each other about having lunch, shame…

Teriyaki At Circular Quay

When Najla came back from lunch and it was my turn to scoot off I was pondering on where to head. Heading out to Hyde Park’s evergreen was becoming a cliché so I made the attempt to head out to another adored area of the City, Circular Quay. Although it started to sprinkle as I headed out for lunch I bought Teriyaki from the sushi place in Wynyard and then caught myself a train to the wharves of Circular Quay.

Not sure on where to head I was going to walk up towards the opera house but then decided to sit on seats facing the harbor which was in the park area alongside the train bridge and near the rocks. Sitting myself down and brushing off the wetness of the bench I started digging into my Teriyaki, slowly. Noticing the aggravating seagulls preparing to bunch up I looked at the guy who was sitting on the next bench across. He looked intrigued by the birds that were swarming around me so I thought to make conversation and complain about the birds.

He seemed interested and all ears in which I later learnt that he was here from England on a working Visa. He came to Australia three weeks ago, basically when I started to work. He didn’t know too much about Australia and he didn’t have too much of an accent but it was enough for me to pick it. Basically, he’s down here now so he can work and when summer arrives he’ll just lay back and relax for a couple of months. The both of us chatted for a good ten minutes or more as I tried eating my Teriyaki through my intervals of making conversation with the foreign man.

Bumping Into Harley

With the lid having blown away whilst I had laid it on the ground I noticed it had flown under my seat and near the legs of some girl sitting in the opposite seat of mine, facing the other way. Deciding to jump up and retrieve my lid considering I wasn’t able to finish my Teriyaki I received a big shock and surprise when I noticed it to be Harley, more known as Harley. “Oh my God” she exclaimed, “Look at you, you look great”.

As she went on to comment my appearance she jumped up and asked me for a hug and kiss. Harley looked a little tattered by covered up pimples and other sorts but that didn’t stop me from thinking those little dirty thoughts about her and what it would have been like if we got together. Intrigued as we both were to have spotted each other I completely forgot about the English guy as he jumped up, politely said goodbye to me and headed back to work in a large insurance company.

As Harley and I continued to chat the topic of nightclubs came up as I decided to include my visits to the City in hopes it would alternate Harley’s previous images of me. Harley found it more susceptible to speak of her visits to Sublime and she felt proud when she noted that she was a member who could get in for free. Recalling how Lyssa told me a couple of nights before that she gets into Byblos for free because she is a member it didn’t phase me at all.

Harley got into a story about her buggy and how her mum sold it without her consent after I mentioned that she might know Kalinda. Through her story I tried to keep an observant face but I couldn’t help but to drop off and think to myself “When is she going to end and when can this fake smile disappear”.

When the time arrived to 1:52 p.m. Harley decided it was time to head back to work and looking at my watch I noticed I would be real late. Before heading off I made it a note to ask for her work phone number so we could bump into each other again. Sifting through her bag we found a pen and she wrote her mobile phone number on the back of one of my cards. Giving her one last hug and kiss I called her back for another in which I really gave her a hug.

Late Back To Work

Smiling at me as she started to walk away I smiled back in appreciation and then headed with a fast pace back to work. Having only five minutes I had to decide on whether to risk waiting for a train or just rush quickly back to work. Tarrying around the train station I decided to walk furiously just as I was about to place my card in the station gates. This proved almost lethal as I had to jog most of the way back to work and as I arrived five minutes late I was noticed by Thalia.

Now Thalia wants to be that future Supervisor, I can see it on her face. For this reason she looked at her watch and waved her finger around as if to say “Bad thing, you’re late by a couple of minutes”. Wording out under my breath that I knew I headed back to my section and began the rest of my day’s work with Najla.

Doctor’s Report Run

When back from lunch I agreed to do the outgoing mail as it would be fair. However, before approaching this I completed some filing and then carried on with the mailing out for the day. The mail didn’t take me long at all as there was a small pile. Margot kept coming out and handing me outgoing mail as David just made a thousand trips to hand in his filing. The reason I finished the outgoing mail so quickly was because I had to head out for another errand regarding Jana. This time around I had to deliver a doctor’s report to Dr.

Lysander on Macquarie Street. Given the option to either walk or go by cab charge I knew it was way too far to walk so cab charge was more prevalent. With the time being 3:30 p.m. I left Najla in good hands and headed out for my second and last errand of the day. This time around I made it my job to get there as quick as possible and be back at work before anyone even knew I was gone. Efficiency was my main key to survival and as I scooted outside and hailed a Taxi immediately I jumped in and we were off.

Again it started to rain as we made our way to Macquarie Street. The driver was a talkative smoker who sounded like he’d spent too much nights living in Macquarie Fields and Claymore. Heading to the building on Macquarie Fields I came across a real old style lift and wondered whether I should bother with old technology or take the stairs. Pressing the weird button for the elevator it started to come down and what surprised me next was how someone was already in there.

What’s more, this guy opened up a cage and then the elevator door so that I could walk in and noticing a seat there I realized he was one of those lift guys I chatted to Najla about the night or two before. His chatting about my day seemed forwarded and pushed as it was in his job specification to be placid.

As he opened up the elevator for me I handed in the doctor’s reports and then contemplated whether I should leave him alone or face the uncomfortable feeling of being in his working space. I kept thinking how boring and lame a job that would be but I guess some people like feeling like they’re in a little box, as if jailed. Catching myself another taxi it proved to be efficient and I was back at work within half an hour, not even that.

Home Past Caprice’s Window

When back at work I completed some more filing for the end of the day as well as part of a brief. The day had passed without hardly any photocopying at all but on these occasions those days are detrimental to my widening of my relationships with people at work. When the day was over I headed to the station with Najla again. This time around I was more eager for conversation more myself and more jumpy.

Anyway, the train trip home was a fair remembrance of déjà vu so we need not speak it. Catching the bus and walking back home in a light sprinkle I done what I usually do just before heading into my house. Each time I arrive at my door I check out Caprice’s bedroom light and if it’s on I have a quick gander from my front door.

So far there have been no fundamental views of her nakedness but I am praised that I don’t let it get to that level. Whilst the ‘State of Origin’ was playing on television and before fully writing in my diary I gave Keith a call on his mobile phone. The question on my lips was to see if Keith would have liked to head out and see ‘The Mummy’ tonight but I guess there is no significance anymore as I no longer went.

State Of Origin Draw

The Football game for the first time in Origin history became a draw so Queensland retains the trophy for another year but neither of them are winners or losers. Queensland seemed to be celebrating quite well after the match and I just couldn’t get over how Tallis, O’ Davies, Hetherington, Lamb and Wendell Sailor played, enormous contributions. Just before the Football started I was mesmerized by a broadcast on Channel 2 regarding Gridiron.

When I heard that Australia had created a Gridiron team that would be playing against the world teams next fortnight the patriotic veins began to flow. If this works out Australians will have a chance at using the sport of Gridiron as a stepping stone to greatness. On Saturday morning they will begin to play Sweden but of course, I’ll be at Kangaroo Island. On Wednesday night I didn’t get to sleep again until 11:30 p.m. From there until this morning I had a good sleep which was capped off by a great day.

I am now up to date with my chronology except for the events of today but as usual, tomorrow will succeed today and there will be some chronology again to write of. Right now I have to leave these pages as it is almost 11:30 p.m. but fare me well for I shall fare well in these pages tomorrow night. What a great night of shopping it was, that’s all I can really say. Today there were some surprises at work but as I noted, in due time, they will be mentioned.

For now these eyes grow vague and tired because of the intensity of food I had eaten for tonight. Despite having a large meal today at work I had a larger appetite after such a great day of shopping and now I am ready to drop. Let me now depart and part with these words until tomorrow. Let the Gym be my sanctuary and then let me head out with this new wardrobe to meet many new people, amen…
