Last Day of Freedom
Today is my last opportunity to be expressive before I must move on to bigger and more demanding things. Commencing work tomorrow hasn’t struck me anxious or vexed me as I do look upon that opportunity favorably. Exactly how long I will remain with the company is unknown and despite my mind working overtime about how much things can go wrong to make me lose interest, I believe it will be at least more than three months.
It’s finally time for me to get out there and put those hard hours into my life so that not only I can benefit with what money can buy but what wealth I will receive with more twists to these pages. Right now I am calm with only the concerns of not knowing how to place the all-important knot in a tie and the documents I have to take with me on Monday regarding my bank details and so forth.
This weekend past for what care I care not to remember as there was nothing to remember. Friday night I was beset with self-conscious manner, Saturday I was disjoined from any plans and today there is nothing to do but await my awakening on Monday morning. In a way, I am lucky that I had a bad dream about waking up at midday on Monday and then worrying about whether to head to work or not. The scares are now behind me, time for the real action.
The time I did wake up today was at 10:00 a.m. which is a pretty lazy time to be waking up. However, I did achieve what I wanted this month and that was to wake up earlier and keep myself in that routine. I believe my waking up earlier this month has led me to this job because if I was in my lazier slumber, I would be tempted to forget interviews and schedules. Nope, today I woke up at 10:00 a.m. and immediately called Ralf to see if he could come over to my house and help me out with the tie dilemma.
The plan was for him to head around at midday but he is now half an hour overdue and knowing he loves taking his scenic route I thought to write in my diary. Other things done today were zilch apart from watching television and having mum buy me four bananas, two for each day leading to Wednesday. With the wrapping up the eventfulness or rather, the laid back approach of today, let me now to further chronology in antecedence of Saturday.
What I Missed After Leaving
The time I woke up on Saturday was around 10:30 a.m. and the events of that morning are fuzzy but I think that Keith gave me a call. Well, I’m sure we talked to each other and his first question was “What happened to you last night”. That’s right, still waking up from slumber when he called me I answered lazily and spun him my story of how I walked out for air and then they wouldn’t let me back in.
Swallowing that story easily he informed me of how everyone started going missing that night and it started with me. Next to disappear was Ralf when they all headed up to the nightclub in the Catholic Club (In which Binh bought me a ticket). Tyler was kicked out within seconds of entering because he was drunk and they thought he was going to start a fight, he didn’t get his money back. Binh’s brother came to drive his car home which meant that they were all walking unless Ace showed up in which he did.
When the night was over at 3:00 a.m. Binh walked because he was pissed off his head (Everyone was) and Keith decided to jump into Ace’s car. However, both of them being drunk, they drove to Ace’s house and then Keith called his mum to pick him up at that early hour. When that little history was concluded I asked Keith to come over later with his ties in which he agreed to and waking myself up, I had a shower.
Ties and a Weekly Ticket
Moving forward to a consummate hour for depiction, Keith arrived probably around 11:30 a.m., maybe a bit more. Bringing with him a couple of ties for me to wear I picked out one that I did like and brought down a couple from my brother’s old room. Neither of us knew how to create the knot in the ties so we called Ralf and Shawn but neither of them were home.
Therefore, we waited around my house for an hour while I brought in Keith’s CD back from his car and taped ‘No Scrubs’ onto my computer as an audio file. Watching some television and listening to some music later we left for Campbelltown Station so I could try and attain a weekly train ticket. Keith parked his car in an illegal spot up the top as he waited for me to run my errand.
Heading up to the machine I saw its usual response and thus, headed to the ticket window. Whilst there I asked the man for a weekly concession ticket but after some fart assing around he finally told me I could only get a daily pass, not a weekly on my concession. Therefore, we headed to Leumeah Station where I walked up to the ‘Open’ machine and took out my ticket, deciding not to take my chances with the ticket window man.
Off to Macarthur Square
On the roundabout heading out from Leumeah Station where the Road Pantry is we got stuck behind a lady in a red Commodore who just wouldn’t take a chance in traffic. There we sat for at least five minutes, waiting on her to find a break in the traffic (In which there were plenty) so she could off and go. There was a big line being created behind us due to her and me and Keith weren’t the only ones laughing and ridiculing her, the people behind us also had an jeering smile.
The rest of the day thus far was unknown but as I suggested we go watch a movie at Macarthur Square Keith had that same thought in his mind. With that we parked near the side entrance and we decided to watch ‘Ed TV’ which we started at 1:00 p.m. and we were 15 minutes late for. Keith decided he wanted to get something to eat so we headed to the ATM machine so he could get some money out and then he shouted me to a thick-shake at Macdonald’s.
Cinema Tricks With Keith
Whilst there I noticed Tiffany’s little sister again and I’m not sure if she was just in a trance but our eyes caught for a split second. Moving it right along, Keith and I headed to Cinema One in which the movie was playing, by far the easiest to get into. However, Keith thought it would be best if we just walked straight across despite the guy on the other side of the hall watching us instead of heading down the stairs and covertly walking upstairs and in.
Just as we were approaching the doors a ticket collector walked out and instead of walking down the stairs Keith thought to utter confidently “One of my friends are in there, can one of us go in and see if he’s there”. The guy allowed it but I thought it was a big mistake because he knew we were lying and now, he knew our faces. Keith walked back out seconds later uttering “Yep, he’s in there” as we walked over to the tables and in their clear view sat down again.
This was another mistake of Keith’s as now they could keep an eye on us but after ten minutes I suggested we head down the stairs while they were out of our sight and walk into the movie. This sounded appealing to Keith and so we walked in and had no hassles about it.
The movie was fairly good, nice storyline but somehow, I would never pay to go watch it, not my kind of movie. Nearing the end of the movie I heard the guy right behind me being asked for his ticket and kicking Keith’s chair in front of me I readied him for an excuse. When his ticket was shown the guy walked past me and as if inadvertently turned around, spotted me and giving the expression that shouts out “Oh, I didn’t see you there, I might as well check you” her asked for my ticket.
I knew their main reason and only reason in asking for tickets was so they could bust both Keith and me and it was a bit lame how they tiptoed around getting to us. Nevertheless, I told him I didn’t have it, Keith done the same and then we were shown the door without their reprisal. The next place on our agenda was to head for Binh’s shop.
Coins at Binh’s Shop
Making this so evermore quicker in explanation, there wasn’t much happening. The only action the three of us had seen was to try and hit a road sign in the parking area with a twenty cent piece. After a couple of attempts Binh walked into his shop and brought out another twenty cent piece because it was hard to find the other one up the path.
Keith and I took turns in regaining the thrown money and after a couple more throws the edges were getting all jagged. No one ended up hitting the sign but Binh was the closest out of all our shots. There was chat about the night between Binh and Keith in which it sounded like they wanted to head up to the Catholic Club or watch a movie at Binh’s house.
No Plans for the Night
Beforehand I had personally told Keith that I wanted to go out to a nightclub or somewhere where my last day of freedom could be spent righteously. Nevertheless, Keith only thinks of himself and because Binh and Tyler dominate the reigns of his decisions he thought heading to the Catholic Club to watch the soccer game (Although he’s not much into soccer) would be the best choice. Will there ever be a day when I can visit a nightclub again or will those days be exhausted by indecisiveness, time will tell.
From Binh’s shop I was virtually dropped off home and Keith hesitantly uttered “I’ll give you a call later today to tell you what’s happening”, I knew it wouldn’t include me. Time did pass in which Shawn called me to ask me what I was doing but we didn’t make any plans for ourselves. I told him that I might be headed for the Catholic Club if Keith was to ring me for the night but apart from that, I had no clue.
Patient I was for a little while until I called Keith later in the night in which he told me “Yeah, we might be headed up to the Catholic Club”. Showing my lack of interest I asked him to call me back later in the night with more details but he never did. Therefore, I spent the hours typing away on my computer, watching television and preparing for a good night’s sleep.
Last night I did get myself to sleep at 2:00 a.m. in which I have already noted the time I went to sleep today. The time has come now for me to head off these scriptures so I can figure out something to do for today instead of having had a totally useless weekend, as it usually is nowadays…
