Bopping in the Back Seat

The trip home was far less harmonious and more to the prediction of Keith. Because of our taking action over Ralf’s authority, I felt the aggravation in his thoughts. Shawn and I were trying to have an enjoyable ride home and as Ralf’s music was pumping we decided to bop to the music together.

Big old bothered Ralf decided to show his authority and turning off the music he put his foot down and asked us to stop jumping around in the back seat. The reason for this I couldn’t understand but to respect him we stopped jumping around. However, minutes later when Ralf’s music was pumping again Shawn and I started bopping our heads in no way to mock Ralf’s rules. Turning the system off again he sternly warned us a second time but I didn’t like the tone in his voice.

Ralf Explains the Physics

It sounded as if Ralf wanted me to obey exactly what he said when he bellowed, “This is my car and I want you to stop jumping around in the back.” Furthering my curiosity I asked him, “What’s wrong with us dancing in the back seat,” and his answer was, “Because the back of the car could sling out.” Seriously, how rare would it be for the back of the car to swing out by our bopping around when it wasn’t even raining and we were on a straight highway. Either this said something for Ralf’s driving or the stupidity in which he carries out his domination.

With a touch of laughter and sarcasm in my voice I told him we would jump around again and when I thought it was over he decided to babble on like he usually does. However, to show he was in command he raised his voice with each question despite me agreeing to what he was saying.

Ralf Crosses the Line

Ralf decided to cross the line when he started yelling how it was his car, how he would break us if we don’t listen and other bullshit. Not appreciative that he was yelling at me I started flinging abuse right back at him but in a more civilized tone. Ralf had pushed his own ego over the edge because he didn’t know when to stop and my speaking over his voice wasn’t helping his ego out at all. “Shut up or I’ll kill all of you,” he kept shouting out but in a disbelieving and mocking tone I would say back to him, “Oh shut up and just drive you idiot.”

The only words that then came out of Ralf’s mouth were fully screamed out and the only person that was flinging words back was me, the person in the confrontation. Keith was just sitting in the front seat minding his own business and despite Shawn also having been accused he wasn’t being questioned or making himself heard. Rather, I knew that Ralf was only trying to assert his authority because Keith and Shawn were in the car and he feels contention between the both of us. Yes, he’s driving the car and has control but he knows I speak out and don’t care of the consequences.

You Must Obey Me

Soon Ralf wasn’t the only one screaming in the car as I started screaming an aggressive tone right back at him. When Ralf started shouting out “You must obey me, you must obey what I say,” I snapped at the thought that I had to obey Ralf. Leaning forward and taking my seatbelt out I started yelling abuse right back at Ralf shouting “You don’t own me for me to obey you. I’ll listen to what you say but I’m not going to obey you like a dog.”

This further infuriated Ralf to the point where his voice broke because of how loud he was shouting. The aggressive tones caused him to shake the steering wheel from side to side a couple of times losing traction on the road and as I roared some more at him I yelled out, “Let me out here if you’re such a big man.”

Later in the night both Shawn and Keith told me that Ralf probably thought I meant stop so we could have a fight and that would have been half the reason he didn’t stop. All his life he’s been saying, “Wouldn’t you be scared if a big black guy like me started yelling at you,” and to have someone defy his principle unsteadied him a bit. Because of my actions, doubt would have been acting out his hesitation because he was now shocked and had a shred of doubt as to how he would fare if he did stop.

Ralf Is All Screams

“Do you really want to get out of the car,” he added and immediately I responded, “If you’re going to keep yelling at me and telling me that I have to obey you then let me out, see if I give a shit.” Ralf was hesitant to what I was putting forward and as soon as I challenged him, he answered, “Nope, I’m not letting you out.” Driving on he started to hamper his aggressive tone. He had been beaten. My voice had prevailed to what I believed in and Ralf knew I was stubborn and I would never bow down to obey him.

All Ralf had to do to save face from the end result was to calm down instead of beginning an argument when the embers had almost extinguished. Ralf thought I would shut my mouth with his constant screaming but I knew when to retaliate, when to assert and when to scream back. I’ve known Ralf and his ways long enough to know that he would never get down to action when it came to that. Ralf is all screams and worded anger, never action and even if he were going to start a fight I wouldn’t back down.

At times I felt like pulling up the handbrake and while the car was screeching to a halt begin hammering into Ralf from the side but he never pushed me over the edge for that sort of retaliation. In the end, I calmed Ralf down with my counterattack and finally saying, “Let’s both be quiet on the count of three,” we both quit the argument. At one stage, after I had advised Ralf that he shouldn’t have began yelling and he uttered, “Well shut up then,” we kept it circling as I responded, “No, you shut up.”

A Cackle From Shawn

Fortunately, our difference in opinion settled down and with Ralf beaten, conversation was bleak. The radio was put back on to a loud decibel range and immediately after the dispute Shawn had a little cackle to himself. Turning the radio back off Ralf shouted, “Don’t start laughing, don’t think this is funny.” I’m not sure if Shawn was trying to follow suit with me or just mock Ralf but he started yelling back at him to say, “I’m not.”

The Gangster Wannabe

What really made me shake my head is the context of words Ralf was using when he was trying to make his point. Every now and again he would use a quotation from rap and it would sound so put on and gay. For example, when I was telling him to let me out of the car he thought to add, “I’ll stop this car and you can bounce.”

Fortunately, I saved his weak attempt at trying to imitate the rap movie in his mind by saying, “We can either bounce in the back seat or you can let me bounce.” The best I can try to explain his put on phrases without actually printing them here is to say he was a gangster wannabe…

Silence at Shawn’s House

When we arrived in Campbelltown Keith was the first one to be dropped off and then I was staged to be next but I wanted to pick up the “Star Wars Trilogy” from Shawn’s house. Thinking it would be a bit too much to ask with Ralf being shitted with me I asked anyway and relentingly he accepted. While Shawn ducked inside to bring out my movies the silence was deafening.

Figuring I should try and say something, I kept quiet and seated in the back seat. The trip home wasn’t any lighter and as he dropped me off I thought to say, “Thanks” and “See you later.” All Ralf could muster up was “Aha” in a diminutive tone and as he sped off around the corner fast he done a screechy. How wonderful, deciding to be hard when it was all over.

Keith Rings Afterwards

When finally home I had myself a shower, something to eat and then I began watching television. The thought of beginning on my Diary wasn’t plaguing my mind, I just wanted to take it easy. Having a slight headache I didn’t think it to be appropriate mentality for my diary so I just lounged around instead. Minutes after getting home Keith gave me a call asking if Ralf gave me the big lecture on the way home but I told him of the grim silence.

“That was a bit crazy there for a while,” Keith added but I didn’t feel any need to brag or be bragged about so I didn’t say much about the matter. When I was arguing with Ralf I felt no fear of retaliation but just acted on impulse and didn’t care what eventuated. I wasn’t thinking of how good I would sound if I retaliated but I just thought it was wrong for Ralf to have me obey him. When 10:00 a.m. arrived I finally slept my tired eyes and troubled mind.
